I have been a fan of Phantom of the Opera for at least 25 years--since I first saw the musical on Broadway, and actually even before that, when news of the London production was finding its way over to the States. For my 15th birthday, my mother gifted me with 2nd row seats to see Phantom while Michael Crawford was still performing the role, and still, 25 years later, it was the best birthday present I've ever received.
