Hey there! If you're reading this then you are probably here for one of two reasons. You either 1.) accidentally clicked/ tapped on my username by mistake, or 2.) are a writer and for some bizarre reason feel the need to satisfy some unprecedented curiosity to read the bio of a reviewer who has absolutely zero fanfics written or uploaded. Honestly, I'm just an average fan who loves to read well written and rich fanfiction. Despite the age of this account, I've actually been prowling around this site since the early 2000s . I only decided to make an account after I started having a really hard time keeping track of all my favorite fics. Consider this a personal virtual library, for your reading pleasure. Maybe one day I'll upload a fic of my own , that's if I ever actually get to sit down and write. Until then, feel free to browse my favorites, maybe you'll find your next favorite fanfiction . ( Or maybe you hate what I like, which is fine too, whatever floats your boat.) Fun Facts About Me ( as a reader ) 1.) I started reading fan fiction much for the same reasons I still read today, which is to read stories about my favorite ships. As I got older and started reading more, it's morphed more into a desire to read stories in general, but my ships still take a lot of the focus. 2.) I have a tendency to read fics of fandoms where the original canon has little to no romance . Usually they're action series where romance may be implied but never really expanded on, or properly developed. It helps me with closure . 3.) The vast majority of the fanfics that I read are based on Anime, Manga or JRPGs . You may find something that doesn't fit into that category, but the bulk of it does. 4.) I love me some action and romance . 5.) I love slow burn romance. 6.) My favorite stories are ones that are written with canon in mind. These are stories that feel like they belong to the series and feel as if they can seamlessly weeve themselves into the plot. These are also stories where characters are portrayed in a way that is believable to their actual canon personalities. 7.) With that being said, I'm not the biggest fan of AU fics. Occasionally I'll find an AU fic that's written really well. I'm usually pretty impressed with those for even getting me to read, let alone favorite. This does not however, apply to fics that are AU only in the sense that they deviate from the canon plot. For example, maybe the fic is written as a what if the antagonist survived scenario, but the rules and everything that has transpired before the deviation still exists and plays a factor in the new fan version of the plot as well as in the characterization. 8.) Because I read a lot of fanfics based on Japanese media, I believe a lot in two things: research and consistency. There are a lot of cultural differences between Japan and the west. If the fic that's being written takes place in a Japanese high school , then it wouldn't make sense to incorporate something like prom into the plot. Prom isn't really a thing in Japan, nor are any other kind of school dances. One of my greatest pet peeves is seeing a major cultural inaccuracy in the plot . Creative liberties are okay, but I think it's always important to be mindful of major cultural differences that when ignored can alter the entire plot. Conversely, even if the series is Japanese, if the characters are not explicitly Japanese or especially if the are canonically NOT Japanese , there is no reason for the characters to speak in honorifics or for the characters to have random Japanese sprinkled into their dialogue . These things can really affect the consistency of a story. 9.) I don't usually read fics based on shoujo or other romance series because either I'm to involved in the actual canon of the series if it's still running and if the series is over then I'll feel like the story is too conclusive for me to want it to be expanded upon. 10.) Lastly, I make it a goal to try and review every story I read . I don't always succeed the first time around because I usually read fics late at night , and tend to knock out when I finish. However, I do often re-read , so when I can I try and review then. My goal is to eventually review all of my favorites. It just might take me a while , but trust me, I'm trying. I know that reviews are a great way at giving back to the writer, especially in fanfiction where writing is often a thankless labor of love. |
