Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter. About my fics: I wrote 'Magic Knows No Boundaries' when I was a teenager, and honestly I think both the plot and the quality of the writing reflect that. For now it's discontinued. I do have some ideas for future chapters, but I'd first want to redo what I've already posted, which is something I can't really be bothered with. I'm sorry to disappoint any readers out there. 'A Necessary Gift' is the story I'm currently in the process of writing. I have the whole plot already mapped out and, barring the apocalypse or being run over by a bus, I expect to finish it. It's quite slow moving, focusing more on exploring wizarding society than on battles and other action scenes. This might not suit some readers, but it's what I'm interested in. The basic premise of the story is that Harry is sent to another universe where he pretends to be Sirius' ten year old son (yes it's cliché, but I don't care), and together they try to influence society for the better, preventing Voldemort from gaining as many supporters and hopefully stopping any future Dark Lord from rising. The way they go about 'fixing' the wizarding world, however, is not without its own problems, nor is the overall effect necessarily positive. I have done my best to keep all characters realistic, basing their personalities on J.K.Rowling's own portrayal of them and not on the accepted personas that have evolved within fanfiction. How successful I am at that, I don't know. I dislike extreme 'bashing' of any kind, and try to avoid it myself. Characters may be (very very very) dislikeable, but I don't believe they can be without any redeeming qualities whatsoever. Well, I make an exception for Voldemort, but that's it. I very much enjoy reading reviews of my stories, and I welcome criticism if it's both constructive and politely worded. I try to reply to any readers who have questions or concerns, or simply want to discuss the fic. Every comment, no matter how banal, is appreciated - a simple 'nice story' is enough to make me very happy. So please review! Pairings: I don't particularly support any one ship, though I usually don't read (and refuse to write) relationships involving a child and an adult, even if the author excuses it by timetravel or reincarnation or soul-bonds or whatever. This means that in my story 'A Necessary Gift', Harry will not be in a romantic relationship with anybody until he's much older (if at all). Warning: the following is an author’s rant concerning the plot for 'A Necessary Gift'. I’ve had some people ask me why I haven’t made Harry learn martial arts or assassinate Death Eaters or just generally be more kick-ass. My answer is: 1) I don’t want to make Harry overly powerful, and 2) What would that actually achieve? The Wizarding World is basically on the brink of civil war – one small kid with Aikido skills won’t change that, since the situation is much too complex. I firmly believe that collective action is necessary to achieve lasting social change. Though of course, feel free to disagree. It just won’t make me change my plans for my fic. |
