Author has written 16 stories for Fullmetal Alchemist. About Me: Formerly NoukaKatsumi. I'm just a humble aspiring writer that is trying to hone her craft via fanfic. I'm currently obsessed with FMA in all its forms. I was born in the '80s and my favorite color is purple. Currently in college, so my prolific-ness may come in waves as opposed to a constant stream. LiveJournal: This link will take you right to my archive: http:///2509.html , which has the explicit versions of stories I can't post here such as: Adder Solstice and My hair is always on his neck, as well as some hard to classify stories that don't fit into 's system. Sorry! Icon: My icon is Cutter and Timmain from Wendy Pini's Elfquest series. Read online here: http:///gallery/OnlineComics3.html Thank you to everyone who has ever favorited, alerted, and/or reviewed one of my stories. You all are awesome and inspire me to keep writing! WIP: Black and Gold: 03/28/2012- Wow...there is really no excuse for the hiatus, but I really have been very busy with school and family, etc. I still think about this story just about every day and am continually writing snippets here and there. I'm hoping to put in a more concerted effort this summer. Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore: 3/28/2012 - This hasn't been abandoned! I currently have FOUR other stories I'm actively working on (and another three that I'm not), so unfortunately this has been left on the back-burner in favor of satisfying my muses. Scarred Wanting: 03/28/2012 - A new series of drabbles that is hosted on my LJ that detail the lives of Edward, Riza, and Roy ten years after the Promised Day. I would post it here but polyamory stories are hard to categorize on this system. Upcoming: The Problem of the Boy: Post-Brotherhood AU. Ed/Roy. A multi-chaptered fic about forbidden love through the ages that starts in Ancient Hellas and ends in 1920s Amestris. Or does it? Can a slave and his master really feel for each other as equals? A project on Ishballan mysticism bring Ed and Roy together begrudgingly, but an alchemic accident shows them what lies beyond the Gate. Past and present and future swirl together and Ed, an advocate of free will, isn't so sure he can accept what he learns. The Heavy Sound of Your Silence (working title): Brotherhood AT. Long one-shot. Ed/Roy, Al. Shortly after defeating Father, Ed finally restores Al to his rightful body, but loses his voice in payment. After a stint in the hospital, the Elric brothers are broke and in need of protection from prying military-- and civilian--eyes. With no way to walk away from his contract, Ed finds himself at the mercy of Roy Mustang and learns about the man--and about himself. (Untitled as of yet): CoS AU. A series of one-shots. Ed/Roy, Al, Winry, Pinako, Team Mustang, OCs. Ed restores Al and goes through the Gate, only to return five minutes later. But for Ed, twelve years have passed. Was this part of his payment? But there's no time to question anything, not even Al's amnesiac and physical regression to his 10 year-old self, while Team Mustang is still in danger. Writers I recommend: Rainjoyous probably my queen when it comes to RoyEd fandom in FMA. Seriously, the sheer level of detail, characterization, and emotional depth is just astounding. Very much attuned to every day life narratives. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed (in a good way!) by all the emotion--it just feels so real. Also, she wrote the only mpreg I'll ever read. Ever. Go. Read. Now. The infamous Sky-Dark. Funny and lots of action and her sex scenes make me laugh almost as much as they make me fan myself. Her multi-chaptered work tends (with the great big exception of The Adventures of Roy Mustang: Sex-Ed Teacher) to focus on adult!RoyEd relationships post-series, but she does write for a variety of pairings and I find her Alfons Heiderich particularly endearing. Zakai is who I turn to when I want something deliciously dark (not that there isn't fluff and humor in this writer's body of work) that shows a great deal of insight into the human psyche. The Sound of Silence is, to me at least, the 'masterpiece', but I don't recommend it to everyone given the subject matter. I had to pause sometimes mid-chapter to keep from losing my lunch that is how visceral a reaction I got just from such good writing. Bob-Fish. Awkward, funny, compromising situations are her specialty as well as plot. She weaves some damn good political intrigue. I love all of her LingxEd (had me laughing so hard) and her RoyEd in No Small Injury is probably the least romantic (not angsty and not fluffy either), but most realistic take (given who's involved) I've ever read before on this pairing. BeautifulFiction. Crazy awesome alchemy, lots of action, and a dash of RoyEd romance. The Saffron Soul and Babylon specifically come to mind. Her romance in more of an undercurrent and is usually in the developing relationship stage and tends towards the beautifully romantic, which is just nice sometimes. There are so many others that aren't coming to mind, but I highly recommend going through my fav'ed stories and authors below. Almost all of them are complete and most of it is RoyEd (although I clearly have a soft spot for HeiEd too.) Also check out Scimitar Smile (an FMA fanfic archive), Steel and Sparks (a RoyEd fanfic community), and Touka Koukan (another FMA fic archive). There's a new one out, Archive of Our Own, which is multi-fandom and you'll see a lot of big names there that are still writing. I have yet to have any issues regarding cross-posting (meaning these archives aren't carbon-copies of each other), so there are scores of good stories here and I've found some amazing authors like Branch, Mikkeneko, Velvet Mace, Kaltia, Cryogenia, Nyagosstar, seatbeltdrivein, a big apple, Binary Alchemist, Harukami, Tir-synni, dragonimp, NoChick_Fic. and I could keep going, but you get the picture. Anime I love and highly recommend : Fullmetal Alchemist - both series (2003 and Brotherhood) and the manga. Action-packed, wonderful characters and complicated plots that have secrets behind secrets and dark in all the right places. Oh and Edward Elric. You'll love him. Black Butler - really speaks to my inner Victorian English lady and her need for pretty men (demons) that have dubious (Faustian) relationships with preteen boys. Could've skipped the second season though. Fruits Basket - Sometimes the fluff makes go into sugar shock, but it's fun, mostly light hearted. Lots of UST and love triangles and dark, angsty pasts. Still stupidly cute and will remain in my heart. Saiyuki - Oh Saiyuki. I think between the original series and Saiyuki Reloaded there are some 100 episodes. Anyways classic shounen series. Lots of action, foul-mouthed priests and demons, and cute, if perenially hungry, monkeys. Oh and the heavy references to the classical Chinese novel, Journey to the West is just killer. Gundam Wing - First love. That's pretty much all there is to it, but I actually really do like mecha shows. Again shounen series, re:action, blowing stuff up, lots of teen male angst. Junjou Romantica - my first BL series. I love it for the tropes (resistant ukes and over sexed semes are wanted!). Funny with easy-to-relate-to characters and lots of romance and some angst on the side. I actually think the relationships between the couples are more nuanced than in a stereotypical BL series, especially Nowaki and Hiroki. Mushishi - Not a whole lot going on in terms of over arching plot because it is set-up like a series of fairy tales or fables, if you will. But just breathtaking art and lovely mystical feeling to the series. I also happen to really like Ginko, the main character, he makes me laugh and I can appreciate his pragmatic, yet compassionate, personality. Oh and he's voiced by Travis Willingham. Darker Than Black - There is a lot happening in this show. Political intrigue, pseudo-human weapons, a little bit of the paranormal at work here. Plus talking cats and a protagonist without the gift of gab, but able to consume huge amounts of food. A little dark, a little funny at times, interesting characters who deal with existentialist questions, quality action scenes...all the makings of a good show. xxxHolic - I really, really recommend that you only watch this in Japanese. I realize as an English speaker, I can't fully appreciate the subtle vocal inflections or word choices, but it's too good to pass up. Lots of Japanese mythology here and an overarching plot that links up with Tsubasa Chronicles. On its own it's comical and dark (I'm noticing a theme here) with well-developed characters that stand on their own as distinct personalities, each with their own purpose in the story. Ghost in the Shell - All the series (I believe there are four in all and an OVA). Basically, a cop show set in futuristic Japan. People can have robots for bodies and cyber crime in this show is intelligent and scary and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Personally, I love cop shows and the main character, the Major, while not 'likeable' per se, you'll admire her for her strength, balls, and intelligence. I don't know what else to put here, so that's it. Thanks for stopping by! |
