 Author has written 2 stories for Mass Effect. Who? BJ Hanssen is my actual name. What? Computer technician, teacher, education technology specialist, linguist, language teacher, technical writer, business analyst, and gamification specialist. Jack of all trades, master of none. Mostly on purpose, it makes my life more interesting. And, unfortunately, significantly busier. Sorry about that. How? I have been a writer, mostly on a hobby basis, since at least 2006. In 2009 I had a scifi story optioned by an American upstart TV production studio, and was hired by them as a writer and technical adviser. Unfortunately, the company folded before it really got started and thus ended my dream of making writing a profession. Where? I'm a Norwegian, currently residing in London, England. Until about 2015, I only used my account here for keeping track of the Mass Effect fanfics I read (of which there are quite a few now). However, for a long time I'd had this idea for a fic rolling around in my head, and I finally decided to throw it out there. Mass Intelligence: Close Call is the first in what I had hoped - and still do hope - would become a series of stories following one Aaron Close as he is reborn into the future by his own AI creation, after the AI realises that the future matches that of some games its creator used to be obsessed by... That series was rather well received, and in mid September 2016 I published a codex-type companion piece titled "The Gunsmith Apprentice's Introduction to Mass Effect weaponry". In 2018, the first book in the MedSci Missions series - titled Earth and Beyond - by a Canadian author (and friend of mine) was released, and I was given co-author credit. The book is based on a television series concept I worked on together with Wendy and several others back in the 2000s. I'm rather fond of the story and the universe we built around it, and though I haven't had any real direct involvement with the novel Wendy has written I would love for it to do well. I'm told there's a chance I might be allowed a go at a story for a future MediSci Missions anthology, and I would relish that opportunity. More importantly, I wish nothing but the best for Wendy here. |
