![]() Author has written 15 stories for Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden, Gundam Seed, Super Robot Wars, Persona Series, Bleach, Star Ocean, and Legend of Heroes. It's been some time since I last updated this profile, and much has changed. No, I'm not dead, my writing is just on hold due to my life getting repeatedly turned inside-out over the last couple of years. I'll try to fix that when things settle down. Favorite anime/manga: Gundam SEED, Gundam Wing, Bleach (parts of it, anyway), Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, Space Knight Tekkaman Blade Favorite video games: Too many for a comprehensive list, but at the top would be Final Fantasy VIII, Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden II, Persona 4, the Street Fighter series, the Mega Man X series, Super Robot Wars, Fate/Extra, and perhaps a couple others. Favorite anime/manga characters: Kira Yamato (Gundam SEED). My favorite Gundam protagonist, one who gets a lot of unmerited flack from American fans. Easy to relate to despite his genemods, and not one to trifle with. His character was butchered in Destiny. Cagalli Yula Athha (Gundam SEED). Another who was butchered in the second show (she'd never agree to marry someone like Yuna, and making her Chief Representative is criminally stupid). A hot pilot in the few cases she gets to fly (save for the obviously-contrived Phase-23 incident), and generally nice despite her hotheaded disposition. Athrun Zala (Gundam SEED). A third who was ruined in Destiny (notice a pattern here?); the idea that he would join forces with Durandal is patent nonsense. Anyway, in addition to being a superb pilot, he's as loyal a friend as one could ask for. Shinn Asuka (Gundam SEED Destiny). While I do not want him as the star (I wanted to see more adventures of Kira and company), and I scoff at the outcome of Operation Angel Down, I'm still quite fond of him. He deserved better; should have defected to Terminal, with Stellar along for the ride. Kurosaki Ichigo (Bleach). The main hero is more intelligent than his personality would suggest, and fiercely loyal. Not to mention his fights are great to watch. Kuchiki Rukia (Bleach). Ichigo's pintsized friend is a lot more dangerous than she appears (just ask the Ninth Espada), and (usually) fun to be around. Kuchiki Byakuya (Bleach). A good heart despite his cold exterior, and I must admit I've always liked the outwardly-stoic types. Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist). Yeah, his temper is even shorter than he is, but it's mostly played for laughs. Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist). The Flame Colonel is amazing to watch. Yeah, he's a womanizer, but there's more than meets the eye. Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha). Yeah, she has some temper issues, and has a tendency to abuse the Beads of Subjugation, but she nonetheless has a good heart. Sango (Inuyasha). Action Girl, nice unless you're foolish enough to make her mad (something that scares even Inuyasha), 'nuff said. Deserved better than she got in the romance department (more on that in a moment). Tohsaka Rin (Fate/Stay Night). Attractive, smart, occasionally amusing, and dangerous, a very appealing combination. Kirigaya Kazuto/Kirito (Sword Art Online). No Gary-Stu, contrary to a vocal minority, and he's got style. Yuuki Asuna (Sword Art Online). The main girl is no Faux Action Girl, and makes a sweet and sometimes humorous couple with Kirito. Kirigaya Suguha/Leafa (Sword Art Online). Nice girl, stronger than we really get to see. Asada Shino/Sinon (Sword Art Online). This young lady defines awesome as far as the latter stages of SAO are concerned. Favorite game characters: Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy VIII). My favorite RPG protagonist (like I said, I like the outwardly-stoic types). Actually a bit of a woobie deep down. Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII). I cannot comprehend the sort of hate she gets. Yeah, she does some dumb things, but she's over that by the end of the first disc. What happens later isn't exactly her fault. Souji Seta (Persona 4). Evaluating a silent protagonist is difficult, but his dialogue options do provide some insight. Naoto Shirogane (Persona 4). The Detective Prince(ess) is a fascinating character. What I do not understand is pairing her with Kanji; he seems interested, but she's clearly oblivious. Moreover, Naoto is a highbrow type, while Kanji...isn't. Albert Wesker (Resident Evil series). A bad guy, true, but a fascinating one. Gilliam Yeager (Super Robot Wars). Possibly the most stylish of the OG pilots, and smart. Kusuha Mizuha (Super Robot Wars). Attractive, sweet, intelligent, and more skilled than the American fanbase gives her credit for. Elzam von Branstein/Ratsel Feinschmecker (Super Robot Wars). One of the best pilots in the setting, and a match for Gilliam in terms of style. With a great theme; "Trombe Override!" Nero Saber (Fate/Extra and Fate/Extella). My absolute favorite Servant, beautiful, strong, warmhearted, and fiercely loyal. Can't ask for much more than that. Disliked characters: Gilbert Durandal (Gundam SEED Destiny). I cannot for the life of me understand why some defend him. The issue is clear cut: attempting to murder Lacus (he's the only possible suspect), the Meer Campbell fraud, framing Athrun for treason and trying have him murdered, the whole Destiny Plan business, evil beyond question. Rey Za Burrel (Gundam SEED Destiny). Ladies and gentlemen, meet the in-universe reason Shinn finished the war a raving lunatic. Kira should have gone for the jugular the way he did with Le Creuset. Meer Campbell (Gundam SEED Destiny). Let's face it, folks, this girl is quite possibly the Cosmic Era's biggest idiot. At best someone to be pitied. Ali al-Saachez (Gundam 00). Contrary to what some have claimed, there is nothing "badass" about this piece of human debris. He's a two-bit terrorist in a mobile suit, nothing more. Ribbons Almark (Gundam 00). A combination of the God complex and the way he messes with Tieria. Aizen Sousuke (Bleach). Boring Invincible Villain, refuses to be surprised by anything (until Ichigo delivers a long-overdue curbstomp, at least), and has a baffling fandom who think he's somehow in the right. What's not to hate? Inoue Orihime (Bleach). Took me a while to reach such a conclusion, but at this point I can only see her as a one-dimensional piece of decorative fluff. The story, IMO, would have been better had she been marginalized early on; she adds almost nothing of value, and that constant "Kurosaki-kun" sets my teeth on edge. Her friend Arisawa Tatsuki would have been a superior choice in every conceivable way. Ichigo deserved better. Miroku (Inuyasha). There are times I can overlook a bit of womanizing (Roy Mustang, FF8's Irvine Kinneas), but really, this is ridiculous. Sure, he has his good points; problem is, you have to did really deep to find them. Sango deserved better than this lecherous con artist. Favorite pairings: Kira/Cagalli non-sibling (Gundam SEED). I have always believed making them siblings to be a serious mistake. They fit together better than either does with their respective canon love interests. (It should be noted I consider Kira/Lacus boring, and Athrun/Cagalli ridiculous.) Kira/Flay (Gundam SEED). My second choice if Kira and Cagalli have to be siblings. Athrun/Meyrin (Gundam SEED Destiny). Athrun needs someone down-to-earth. Shinn/Stellar (Gundam SEED Destiny). I have no use for Shinn/Luna, and these two should have had a happy ending. Ichigo/Rukia (Bleach). They fit together very well, and I cannot fathom Ichigo/Orihime. Minato/Yukari (Peresona 3). Their relationship strikes me as more natural than any other (especially Minato/Aigis), and Yukari is my favorite character from that game. Souji/Naoto (Persona 4). I see Naoto as an ideal partner for Souji; smart, loyal, and calm. Sango/Michiru Kururugi (male player character from Secret of the Cursed Mask). They should have made this guy a Canon Immigrant. Much better than Miroku could ever be. Shirou/Saber (Fate/Stay Night). They have a special connection far beyond the normal Master/Servant bond. I was highly irritated that they didn't get a happy ending. Shirou/Rin (Fate/Stay Night). Rin is by far my favorite character in the series, making this one a close runner-up to the above. Kirito/Asuna (Sword Art Online). Main pairing, contrary to the series' detractors works quite well. Kirito/Sinon (Sword Art Online). The best "alternate" IMO, and Sinon is overall my favorite character in the series. Hakuno/Nero (Fate/Extra and Extella). Truly a perfect match. (Nothing against Tamamo; I just think Nero fits much better.) Pairings we could do with a lot less of: These I admit to being something of a pet peeve of mine. Any yaoi/yuri/whatever. Regardless of one's views on homosexuality, approximately ninety-nine percent of the time a pairing of this sort involves one or (usually) both characters massively out of character. Yes, this includes Gundam Wing; sorry, fangirls, but Quatre and Trowa aren't gay. Deal with it. Athrun/Cagalli (Gundam SEED/Destiny). Canon, yes, but it has never made any sense to me. They never seem particularly comfortable with each other. Besides, looking at the SEED section here you'd think that pairing was the whole point of the series, which is absurd. Sesshomaru/Kagome (Inuyasha). ...What? Despite them barely interacting throughout the series, and neither showing anything remotely resembling interest in the other, this pairing is inexplicably commonplace. I just don't get it. Miroku/Sango (Inuyasha). Yes, it's canon. Doesn't change the fact that Miroku is a lecherous con man. Kanji/Naoto (Persona 4). Another one that makes me say, "What?" Another one totally without basis, inasmuch as Naoto is completely unaware of Kanji's interest, and they have roughly as much chemistry as oil and water. Rin/Archer (Fate/Stay Night). Never could see this one. Archer is, in my view, an empty, burned-out shell of a man, one who really has nothing to give. Not exactly the best foundation for a relationship. Ichigo/Orihime (Bleach). Ichigo barely acknowledges Orihime's existence when she's not actively in danger, and she clearly doesn't see him for who he really is. And now, with the manga basically finished, the worst-written official pairing I have ever encountered. Kubo (who said he wasn't interested in writing such to begin with) has shown himself incapable of doing so plausibly. Current and future fics: Knights of the Moon. AU novelization of Super Robot Wars Judgment. The Third Generation. Effectively dead; I've not had any inspiration for it in years. Edge of Chaos. Same as above, and it never got far anyway. Destiny Awaits. Now dead. Bow and Sword in Accord. An American exchange student is caught up in the Sword Art Online death game. Now as the swordsman Flik, he meets a certain young archer, and they explore the mysteries of Aincrad together. Kirito/Asuna, OC/Sinon. Persona: Beyond the Fog. Novelization of Persona 4, with heavy emphasis on Souji's relationship with Naoto Shirogane. Tentatively formulating ideas for, among others, Muv-Luv, Fate/Stay Night, and the Universal Century Gundam. |
