I'm a longtime reader of fan fic, which I discovered when my obsession with Eric Christian Olsen and Marty Deeks of NCIS: Los Angeles began. Commenting on others' stories led to real life friendships, not to mention my first efforts at writing for pleasure, which came in the form of assignments for wikiDeeks, a website dedicated to said obsession. I had never in my life found writing enjoyable, but working on the site really was great fun. I'm still not a great writer, but I think I'm better than when I started. Thanks to everyone who's ever commented on my work there. I've enjoyed being able to discuss Deeks and the show with you all.

I only just recently wrote my first fan fic, the first story I've written since grade school. It came to me almost fully formed, so I figured rather than posting a theory about a Season 11 teaser to Tumblr, I might as well write it out in the form of a story. I enjoyed the experience of channeling the characters and started a second story. That one quickly spiraled out of control into an 80,000-word novella. I have very much appreciated getting feedback on these stories. I'm still figuring out the mechanics of storytelling so hearing people's thoughts about my attempts has been both helpful and encouraging.
