He pulled himself onto the mount and wheeled it around, the three men moving away to give him room. Without a backward glance, he kicked the horse into motion, making his way out of the woods and on his way to being a fugitive.

He manages to hook a finger in d'Artagnan's shirtsleeve, finding it stiff with crusted salt and rusted blood. 'Athos,' he rasps. 'And Porthos.' D'Artagnan's eyes darken. 'I'll find them,' he swears, and is gone.

A mind meld is the most intimate of any possible connection – to know and be known, wholly and completely. Usually, melds are advocated for leading to increased understanding and empathy. Spock wonders what it means, then, that everyone he melds with is so repulsed by his mind... Until he meets James Kirk, anyway.

d'Artagnan is a patchwork of people and he knows it. The ache does not come from knowing that he has taken others into himself – there is no one there he recognises who he does not love and admire – but instead is born of a sense of knowing that he can never be as great as the shadows he stands in.

When a certain winter spirit is missing from the Guardian meeting, the other Guardians find Jack severely injured. It immediately becomes apparent that Jack cannot talk. Who did it and how is Jack going to heal from this trauma? Follow the journey as this family tries to put their winter spirit back together and a threat re-emerges. Sorry for the terrible summary.
