Hello everyone,

just a few words about why Im here...

Ive been writing fanfiction since I was 13, not even knowing that there was a name to it back then as the internet did not really exist yet (can you believe it)... my favorite TV-Series at that time were Airwolf and The Young Riders, so it was all about helicopters and horses, and it was all written in pencil.

Well, time has changed and now its all The Lord of the Rings (preferably Aragorn), though Ive only just started writing stories about it myself, not wanting to trivialize Tolkiens work.

Ive been in New Zealand for some time and yes, if you squint (actually, you dont even have to) you can see Middle Earth. I remember most vividly how Ive been riding on a bus and suddenly Rohan flew by outside. But I think you can also find those landscapes elsewhere, its all due to your imagination; although I really like the movies, I think theres room for ideas. As Ive finally decided that the same holds true for the story itself, and as there are so many blank spots very similar to those on old maps ("here may be dragons"), its too tempting not to. So I went looking if there are any (dragons, that is)...

Im no native English speaker, so please excuse my mistakes; maybe Ill find a beta-reader so as not to strain anyones nerves too much.

Apart from my LotR-stories on fanfiction.net Ive posted only one other fanfic about Temeraire (which is one of my all-time favorite books), which you can find under

http:///temeraire_fic - again, I wrote it to fill a blank spot (where I knew there definitely would be a dragon).

Aragorn and Elrond:

Watching the movies, you get the feeling that Elrond and Aragorn are quite alienated, for there does not seem to be any particular warmth or closeness between them, and Elrond acts like a pouting teenager when it comes to his daughter.

In the first appendix of the books, however, it is made clear that Elrond considered Aragorn as his son and that there was a great fondness between them even though Arwen "interfered".

Elrond says: "My son, years come when hope will fade, and beyond them little is clear to me. And now a shadow lies between us. Maybe, it has been appointed so, that by my loss the kingship of Men may be restored. Therefore, though I love you, I say to you: Arwen Undómiel shall not diminish her lifes grace for less cause. She shall not be the bride of any Man less than the King of both Gondor and Arnor. To me then even our victory can bring only sorrow and parting- but to you hope of joy for a while. Alas, my son! I fear that to Arwen the Doom of Men may seem hard at the ending."

These are no harsh words. Elrond is merely being honest, but what he actually does is to fortify Aragorns determination, because he can only marry Arwen if he claims the throne.

Aragorns destiny:

In the movies, Aragorn is reluctant and says that he does not want the burden that comes with his heritage, whereas in the books he is much more self-confident and can hardly seem to wait to get started.

There is the moment when the Fellowship sets out from Rivendell: "Aragorn sat with his head bowed to his knees; only Elrond knew fully what this hour meant to him."

This is a moment of silent contemplation, and Aragorn is aware that his time has finally come. It does not necessarily imply negative thoughts and feelings.

Elladan and Elrohir:

Due to horrible circumstances they have lost their mother, one of the most important persons in most peoples lives.

I do like to think of them as Middle-Earths Weasley Twins as well, and it can be very funny when they are constantly pulling pranks and being ludicrous, but I actually do not think that they are as lighthearted and careless as many of us wish.

I do love them and am sorry that they have only short appearances in the books and none in the movies (or has anyone seen them anywhere?).

Legolas:

He is beautiful and graceful, and I am very fond of him. There is one funny quote from him in "The Two Towers", concerning Fangorn Forest: "It is old, very old," said the Elf. "So old that almost I feel young again, as I have not felt since I journeyed with you children. (...)"

Legolas and Aragorn:

We do not get to know when Legolas and Aragorn meet for the first time, but I like to believe that they have known each other before the Council of Elrond.

Appears in several of my stories and is an invention of mine: a stuffed horse which belongs to little Estel and survives throughout the years.
