The More Things Change...

It's been the better part of two years since I've last logged on here. My life has gone through several major changes, not the least of which being a new job, becoming single again, and applying for college.

And I still can't find time to work on my stories!

I was never very consistent when I did have time, and for that I cannot apologize enough. That being said, I hope that I can finally get clear of this involuntary hiatus and get back to writing. It is something I do enjoy immensely, and remains one of the few artistic leanings that truly gets my blood pumping.

My current works are as follows:

The End of The War: Balbane's Legacy (FFT)

This was the brainchild of my fifteen year old self, the better part of eight years ago. I was intrigued by the character Balbanes, and strove to give this individual a chance to tell his story. However, my notes regarding this yarn are mislaid and most likely destroyed, and I cannot remember where I had felt compelled to take this tale. So, barring the reappearance of the idea that birthed this story, I'll have to let it lie as is.

Status: Dead.

Escape from Edcatraz

K, basic premise: I got the idea for this one while watching Cool Hand Ed on Cartoon Network (back when it was Cartoon Network, I mean). It came as such an "ah-ha!" moment, that I scrambled to find whatever bits of writing material I could to take it down. I managed to get two chapters in before Life, that cruel yet necessary waylayer of mortal plans, decided things in my personal time needed shaking up. I had since regained some semblance of order, and began to dedicate time to continue this.

Then the Big Picture Show happened.

I was blown away. I rejoiced as Antonnici's world came alive one final time. I came away feeling better then I had in years. That being said, I did (and still do) have a bone or two to pick about how it ended:

Eddy's Brother being a complete Jerkass: No problems here. Hey, if the dude can inspire that much fear in Kevin, of all people...

Eddy becoming a better person: Hell, he did it at the end of the fifth season. Might not have been earth-shattering, but remember who we're talking about, here. Baby steps.

The Culdesacians' wholehearted acceptance and forgiveness of the Eds: ...say again? After spending most of the movie raring for blood, and hunting the Eds so relentlessly that their own relationships became strained, it all became handwaved at the end in a rousing chorus of the Friendship song? Yeah, sorry, not buying it. Especially given that the pain Eddy's Brother was dishing out held very little difference from the beatings that the other kids lay down on a regular basis. And Johnny's Exile made very little sense as well, turning someone who might've been the first of the "regular" kids to openly befriend the Eds into a butt-monkey at the eleventh hour.

And Double D's hat. Seriously, what the hell, Danny?

Now, I'm just venting here, and don't get me wrong, I am still over the moon that it happened at all. I just feel, on a personal level, that the ending could have been done better. All that aside, much of my show-related views while I was working on this fic have been skewed to hell and gone, and as a result I will have to re-evaluate much of the plot I planned to implement.

Digimon: Road Trip

This one was just something I whipped up while I was in a particularly good mood one day. I had no designs on whether or not it would go much farther than it has. As to what happens to the fic, I'm open to suggestions.

Status: Up in the Air

Right Place, Right Time

I feel the best personally regarding this story, in that there seems to be a chance to show, if not how it should have gone, then at least how one person can upend many situations, and as a result may draw the series in an entirely different direction.

I don't intend to rewrite it as Every Episode Starring The Winchesters Plus Jo; that would get really stale, REALLY quick. That being said, there will be some plot-essential eps that will have to be looped in, because I personally lack the skill to diverge into an entirely new vein where the show is concerned. I will try, at the utmost, to stave off the Trauma Conga line the brothers were staring down at this point in the show.

This one's going to require the most elbow grease on my part. I really am looking forward to it.

K, that about sums my progress up. I do have a few more story ideas, but I won't mention them here. No point in jinxing it, after all.
