Shirou should have realize that Alaya wouldn't take rejection kindly. Even if he wouldn't be her Counter Guardian, she still had plans for him. Dropped into the middle of a war game, Shirou has to figure out what is going on and why Alaya sent him there in the first place. He just knew Archer was somehow in on this sick joke.
