![]() Author has written 25 stories for Coraline, Bible, Chronicles of Narnia, Twilight, Divergent Trilogy, Across the Universe, Beth Revis, Misc. Books, and Inkheart. Greetings. I'm Calyn. This is the only name I've ever had on FF. I sometimes review fics as a guest named "Calyn" due to my primary internet browser being incompatible with reCaptcha. As regards myself, I am an American female older than Miley Cyrus and younger than Taylor Swift. I am also Catholic; what I do and do not write and read will reflect this. I love music and Latin. As regards my fandom opinions, I believe adaptations of media should change not an iota of material more than absolutely necessary, and that "canon" is strictly limited to the original source material. Any supplemental material or authorial statement is fanon, with the exception of the Narnia timeline. Should it be of interest to anyone, a basic list of pairings I ship and anti-ship can be found on my LJ at post 28864. As regards the LJ: "on my LJ at post 28864" or "LJ 28864" or somesuch means to plug the numbers in place of the Xs in this link: cal-yn livejournal com/XXXXX html. (Due to FF's new even-more-draconian link policies as of Feb 2020, you'll also need to add periods in place of spaces.) It is quite messy, much of it is outdated, and I have yet to decide on a better method of archiving extra information, so I recommend you not explore it beyond the pages I specifically link to. I use the ampersand (Alice&Bob) to indicate platonic relationships, as opposed to the slash (Alice/Bob) which is universally accepted to indicate a romantic pairing. The abbreviation "DU" stands for my personal and primary Narnian universe, the Darkness Universe. For most intents and purposes, it is functionally identical to bookverse, despite the presence of Ailena. MY FANDOMS B=book, M=movie Major: Minor: Anti: SOME INCOMPLETE-FIC PLANS The Muse persists. It goes on living, though neglected, waiting for you to give it air or die without giving it utterance. Top priority at the moment: FIF/CCDE (I'm pretty stubborn about never declaring fics dead, especially when I had specific plans for them.) Azure and Azure Expanse: no particular priority, as they have no defined end or overarching plot and will never be "complete". Further chapters will be added if and when I complete them. Call Me Katie: low priority. Might include some revisions of Chapters 1-11 to make them...better. (I was a noob. I am no longer a noob.) May be rewritten and reposted. Dear Authors: may possibly be continued in the future, but highly unlikely. For all practical purposes, consider it complete. Sunshine: low priority. Under revision, due to the whole Sun Series universe changing and expanding significantly since I first wrote it. (Think "virtually none of the events in the books happen" kind of "significantly".) Next update will be something like "have revised, posting soon, here's the incomplete sequel written before the universe changed." The Road I'm On: low priority. untitled: at least one chapter planned, or an addition to the current one, mostly because I'd like to describe the character more. In addition to that, it needs a title before I declare it done. THE FIX-IT FILES (FIF) The Fix-it Files are fics of varying lengths for varying fandoms that were written not out of love, but out of anger, sometimes with a side dish of hate or spite, hence "spitefics". They are exactly what they say on the tin—an attempt to fix something in a story that really cheesed me off. As they were originally intended as a venting mechanism, the writing may be of lower quality. Some of the fic/chapter titles are directly based on the book title. FIF 1: Less Than Three, AU scene (Across the Universe, Beth Revis) THE CCDE The CCDE fics were originally a subset of the Fix-it Files, but I thought it prudent to separate them into their own series. Essentially, they are the same sort of thing as the FIF, but where the FIF occur entirely in-universe, the CCDE fics involve a good deal of fourth-wall breaking and a connected backstory. The CCDE, or the Confederation of Crappy Denouement Eliminators, is the sister organization of the CCD, the Coalition of Canon Defenders. The CCD are my own brand of Sue Hunters that deal with issues in fanfic. The CCDE, by contrast, deal with similar issues in published fiction. They share many similarities with each other, and officers may cross over from time to time. CCDE fics occur chronologically in the indicated order and may contain references to installments that are not yet posted. CCDE 1: Venient Vengeance, WIP, AU scene/sequel (Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn) THE NARNIAN CREED (c. Paul Ford, 1980) I believe in the Emperor-beyond-the-Sea who has put within time the Deep Magic, and, before all time, the Deeper Magic. I believe in his Son Aslan who sang into being all the worlds and all that they contain: Talking Beasts and humans, dumb animals and shining spirits. And I believe that Aslan was a true beast, the king of beasts, a Lion; that for Edmund, a traitor because of his desire for Turkish Delight, he gave himself into the power of the White Witch, who satisfied the requirements of the Deep Magic by killing him most horribly. At the dawn following that darkest, coldest night, he was restored to full life by the Deeper Magic, cracking the Stone Table and, from that moment, setting death to work backwards. He exulted in his new life and went off to rescue all those who had been turned into stone by the Witch's wand and to deliver the whole land from everlasting winter. He will be behind all the stories of our lives; and, when it is time, he will appear again in our world to wind it up, calling all of his creatures whose hearts' desire it is to live "farther in and farther up" in his country which contains all real countries. I believe that upon us all falls the breath of Aslan and that ours are the sweet waters of the Last Sea which enable us to look steadily at the sun. I believe that all who have thrilled or will thrill at the sound of Aslan's name are now our fellow voyagers and our fellow kings and queens; that all of us can be for ever free of our dragonish thoughts and actions; and that one day we will pass through the door of death into "Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read; which goes on for ever; in which every chapter is better than the one before." Father of Aslan, lead me ~Calyn |
