Like fanfic, like writing. Exploring Smallville and Buffy fic. The favorite story 'Runaway' is actually one of my co-authored fic. Actually, the first I ever wrote. But lots of people liked it, so I recommend it highly (instead of hiding it somewhere, anyway)

Personal Pet-Peeves found in fan-fiction fics:

A1. My new major peeve: teen pregnancy fics where the baby repairs the relationship or turns a party hook-up into a life-long healthy relationship. That is so messed up: people don't react that way to unexpected consequences to recreational sex. The failure rate of teen relationships after 3 years is well over 95%. Baby-daddy is usually long gone, no matter what he's promised. Yeah, he hangs out for a year or a little more, but you'll be lucky to get a faceless check in the mail by the time kiddo hits kindergarden.

A.Pedo fics. Any fic that includes sex, making out, or thoughts of lust in a child under the age of 12. If someone hasn't gone through puberty they actually CAN'T experience lust, they don't have the hormones necessary. Children today may have been trained to realize someone is 'hot' and they may want affection (such as hugs and kisses), but it isn't actually sexual. They may wrap it up in sexual words, but think back to when you were 9- did you actually think about intercourse? Or were your fantasies all about having that hot guy/girl on your arm, and the popularity it ment? Occasionally, an older person can recognize that so-and-so will grow up to be desirable, but if you talk about two 6 year olds finding a future lover because they hug on the playground? Or that those same 6 year olds have a sex drive? Get counseling.

B. Pregnancy fics where the woman is always sick as a dog. Or faints. I've had four kids, and I NEVER got morning sickness. Ok, maybe there were two days in there where I wasn't so hungry, but... no throwing up. Most women are only sick for one, two, maybe three months, and usually, if they eat something small frequently, they can keep it under control. If you haven't been pregnant, or married to a pregnant woman, you might want to steer clear of this plot line.

C. Fics where everyone is OOC, even the universe itself is changed around. Why don't you just admit that you wrote an original story? Take this simple test, if you changed the boy's name from 'Harry Potter' to 'Joe Smith' would anyone know it was him? If not, you wrote an original story, you just copied the names.

D. Fics that are basically a 'Cliff Notes' version of the original story. Why bother reading? This makes an especially bad story if you have inserted another character (For example, a Jedi in a Lord of the Rings fic) and nothing changes. If you are going to completely follow cannon storyline with an extra character added, why did you bother? The exception- where you write a single (or very few) scenes out to show what a character is feeling or thinking, especially where it is not explained- like in a movie.

E. Fics where everyone loves everyone else, no one fights, and its just a bunch of party-like meetings with pithy remarks throw in.

E1. Extra points for poor writing if there are speeches by the 'wronged hero' followed by the begging of forgiveness of 'traitorous friends' .

E2. Double extra points if the 'wronged hero' is ridiculously young, but still pulls one over on a bunch of adults- without any help.

F. Authors that keep their fics hostage for more reviews. Us readers are rude, bad people. We don't review- get over it!

F1. Authors who have disabled unsigned reviews. This is especially true of authors who have slipped in pedo fics, slash fics, or lemon saturated fics without warning.

G. Fics where someone is abused beyond all recognition- and then they look and act completely normal, they just have a deep dark secret. Um, folks, that's one reason why abuse is so horrible- it twists people's perceptions of themselves and others such that they have difficulty interacting normally!

G1. Along those lines- corporal punishment fics (spanking, etc.) where the abused child hero is spanked and therefore greatly respects the one who did it. Um. NO. I've known real, live, abused children. One of the ways their perceptions are warped is that since they know the abuse was undeserved, therefore ALL punishment is undeserved. They can't tell the difference between really deserving discipline and the irrational reactions of abusive authority, and to protect their own self worth it all becomes bad. Spanking someone who had really been abused would make them loose all respect for you. (NOTE: I am not against spanking, in fact, I have spanked my own kids. But what I am saying, is you can't treat an abused kid normally. They have issues.)

H. There's more, but one of my peeves is enormously long bios. You can recognize this by if your bio is longer than your story list, you have either only written four stories, or you need to trim you bio- otherwise, people will never read your bio!
