A supernatural being feeds from sadness, and it's found a recent victim. Sam, with the help of Castiel and others along the way, will have to help Dean realize he is important and at the same time, solve a long running case.

The mark of Cain has left Dean feverish, delusional, and full of uncontrollable rage, Sam must deal with his sick, homicidal, older brother.

Dad and Sam's arguments have become pretty much a regular occurrence these days, but neither notice the illness Dean's been trying to cover up, not wanting to worry Sam, or disappoint his father, until it may be too late. Sick!Dean, Wee!Chesters and the realization that Sam may need to watch out for his brother for a change, rather than the other way around.

One day after 'The Purge' Sam decides that he really couldn't care less about Dean this time, but should he leave Dean just yet? Dean forces him into making a decision they both might regret...again.

Seconds after 9X23, Sam discovers the consequences to all of their actions.

Dean comes down with something non-supernatural for a change. Can Sam deal with his anger at his brother in time to save him? Set in season 9, just after "Captives".

The Mark of Cain is affecting Dean in some pretty screwy ways. Unknowingly, he calls out, and a certain angel is there to answer him. Set mid-late season 9.

(season 9 - spoilers for Mark of Cain) - Dean's alcoholism catches up with him. He is told he has liver disease and needs to quit drinking. Dean wants to prove to himself that he can quit 'cause if he can't fight this addiction, then how can fight the desire for the blade? Sam tries to help him but finds the alcohol was just masking a different addiction thats changing Dean...

Dean is left broken when Sam's harsh words cut into him like a knife. He turns to alcohol and slides deeper and deeper into depression. Eventually he finds a hunt, but without Sam as backup, Dean is kidnapped and tortured. His only hope is that Sam will rescue him. But he doesn't. Depression, torture, Hurt!Dean, alcohol abuse and panic attacks. Tag to 9x13. One-shot.I don't own SN.

What would happen if instead of Sam doing the trials, Dean does them instead. Cue hurt!Dean and worried!Sam. This is just my take basically on what would have happened if in trial and error if dean killed the hellhound instead and then carried on to go through the trials!

Somewhere after episode 9x17. Cain had told him there would be consequences and Dean had now recognized the signs in himself. But he would've said yes anyway. (written before 9x18 aired)

Takes place after 9x11. Trying to get Dean to admit his feelings is like pulling teeth. Fortunately Cas has got plenty of patience...maybe. Chapter 3 FINALLY up!

It's been nearly two months and the boys are finally closing in on Abaddon, just in time too since the Mark of Cain seems to be consuming Dean both physically and mentally. Meanwhile Cas' stolen grace is quickly wearing off and he's turning human once more. Of course nothing ever goes as planned; as Dean goes to kill Abaddon, he is quickly caught off guard by what he finds.

This happens after blade runners.

When Dean returns to the bunker bearing the Mark of Cain, he finds out the hard way that there are consequences for bearing such evil. Sam and Cas have their hands full as they search for a way to lift the Mark from Dean's skin as it begins to engulf him. Rated for language, violence, possible adult content later. Alone and Marked by Cain, Dean takes a desperate gamble that will fix Heaven for good but in the process cost him everything. Where are Sam and Cas when you need them? Can they save Dean before it's too late? Cheesy, I know. Apologies. I'm a big fan of Destiel, probably more in later chapters

When Dean is still recovering emotionally from their father's death, Sam attempts to comfort him and ends up just making him mad. (Kind of steals the scene from Bloodlust where Dean lashes out at Sam) and the next day, Sam falls over a cliff. Can the two of them fix their relationship and Sam at the same time? Or will Dean end up lashing out again? (hurt!Sam/caring!Dean/angry!Dean)

Between S5E02 and S5E05 while Sam and Dean are taking a break from hunting with each other, Dean is racked with guilt over his failure to 'save' his brother and blames himself for the coming apocalypse. When he tries to mask the feelings with alcohol and reckless demon fights, Cas has to step in to try and talk some sense into him. Dean/Cas, lotta tears and abusive John flashbacks.

Post 8x10, Torn and Frayed. An all-too-familiar fire dream, a near panic attack, a midnight conversation, and maybe learning to let go of some of the guilt dragging them down. "You still have the option to go back to her, you know."

The stress he's under becomes too much and Dean is hospitalized in the psych ward. Sam is left trying to understand. This idea has been itching at my brain. There may be some mild cussing, but it's mostly a psychological evaluation. I do not have ownership of the brothers Winchester or anything Supernatural. Takes place after 8.19 but before 8.20.

Dean & Sam are called to investigate deaths in a small town in Idaho, one that Dean had no intention of ever returning to. What they find waiting for them there is unexpected and devastating for Dean. He must sort out his own feelings, and Sam trying to come to terms with what they left behind, they must hunt whatever is killing the townsfolk. Hurt!tortured Dean Worried!Awesome Sam

Benny doesn't know what to think about the Winchesters, Sam or Dean. Sammy is protective, Dean is fatherly and a bit injured/hurt, Cas is all knowing, and Benny is confused.No pairing, but kind of fluffy. Rated T. Purgatory mentioned. Set in season 8 after 8x10. Only Sam barely comes out of the hunt alive, leaving Dean left to find and save him. All the while demons conspire against the Winchesters striking them when they are most vulnerable. Hurt Sam/Dean.

Coda to Citizen Fang Dean's bait and switch to get Sam away from Benny worked much better then he'd hoped. And much worse.

A rash of unusual suicides brings Dean and Sam to a town where people are killing themselves for no apparent reason. With Sam's sanity hanging by a thread and Dean struggling to deal with his recent losses, will this job push them past their limits and cause one of the brothers to lose his desire to live?
