Author has written 9 stories for Fullmetal Alchemist, Legend of Zelda, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and Hobbit.
Hello everybody!
I enjoy reading and writing primarly adventure and humor, but there are a lot of other things I enjoy too, so if you don't find something that's your cup of tea among my stories, maybe you'll enjoy one of my many prompts instead. Or if you don't like challenges, you could always browse the list of favorites.
I have a DeviantArt account as well which is also under the name Fwoosheye.
If you don't have any interest in writing advises or in various prompts, suggestions, or challenges, HIDE THE BIO! Because that's literally all my bio consists of from this point on. You have been warned.
Oh, and if you're looking for something with a specific theme? Try using Ctrl F (sorry phone-users, you'll have to scroll)There's a lot of stuff in here; the Challenge-list have (last time I counted) more than 160 different prompts, and it might be a bit daunting to take on all at once. It is sorted by fandom however which I hope helps. See below for the categories (everything is also sorted in alphabetical order).
I have now also added a category for various tests, which I hope you will enjoy. If you know of a test I haven't mentioned, please let me know and I will look it up and add it!
REGARDING TRIGGER WARNINGS (TW): If you have any triggers, you'll probably find something with it in the prompts. I have not put up any warnings in the challenges themselves since they have such a wide array of topics, and I've also tried to keep them fairly open so people can do pretty much anything they want with them, but if you feel that even reading just fiction prompts might trigger something; Please proceed with caution. This list isn't worth an anxiety attack etc.

General writing advice
A list of various things I've noticed many struggle with, and how I think when working around them myself. If you have a problem I haven't covered here, you can send me a PM and I'll do my best to answer it.
Active vs. Passive voice, what is it?
I've heard/read many people say that you should never write in passive voice, which at first confused me as I had never heard of that expression when I went to school. But I read a really good explanation on a site called themanuscriptshredder with example as to what it is:
Passive voice is a sentence whose subject does not perform the action.
“John was attacked by wild dogs.” -Passive. John is the subject, but the dogs are performing the action.
“Wild dogs attacked John.”– Active. Dogs is the subject and the dogs are performing the action.
Passive voice is often accompanied with "was/is", but be careful if you use the "search/replace" function in your editor of choice as they quite often are still needed. This is just a simple demonstration of why active voice is to prefer in general, but passive voice have it uses too so do not be afraid to use it from time to time - even if it's just in dialogues.
Descriptions, or no descriptions? That's the question:
This one is very much a personal preference question, I personally is somewhere in the middle, and here's what I think when I struggle with how much I should use in the different scenes. In general, I follow the rule that the more important something is for my plot, the more I will describe it.
Locations and items:
How important is the location itself? Are they just passing through once to never return or are they trapped and turning the place upside down to escape? Is it a very average house, a dirty shack or a fancy mansion?
How relevant are the items in there? You've probably heard versions of the "rule" which says that if there's a sword on the wall someone must be stabbed with it in the next few chapters. I say that's only partly true, because that sword might serve a different purpose, either "in-fiction" as a key to a secret passage etc. or it has an "out-fiction" job which might be to help describe the personality of the house owner (is it overly decorated? Well cared for? Dull and rusted?).
What function do the clothes have? This one goes a bit hand-in-hand with the people bit, but with one addition: If the character whose PoV you're writing from has a garment with an additional function (e.g. secret pockets) I might point that out.
People:
When I'm unsure of how much I should describe a character, I pull out my inner (slightly fluid) scale which goes as follows (from least to most).
Unimportant single appearance (e.g. someone on the street who points where the shop is)
Unimportant reoccurring (e.g. librarian, cashier)
Slightly important (e.g. friend's friend)
Secretly important (your character thinks they aren't important, but they will later reappear as either friend or foe)
Important (most occurring characters such as friends)
Very important (usually the best friend or a love interest)
This actually goes hand-in-hand with the recommendation "Show don't Tell". I try to show most feelings and actions, but if it's something which isn't super-important but still needed I might just tell, because showing will indicate it's important and make the reader disappointed when it isn't. (Something that should always be told over shown when possible however is your character's goal/what's at stake if they fail. That should be a statement.)
So in general, a lot of the description is dependent on if your reader need to know something or not. They probably don't need to know the exact amount of laces and buttons on a girl's dress, but they might need to know it's cute and frilly. And normally they don't need to know where in the room a bed is, just that it's there.
How advanced should your language be?
I don't have any super-advice when it comes to this, but I do have a few points which might be worth considering when you're in doubt. It's very dependent on not only your target group (e.g. small children vs adult), but also the Point of View, your characters' knowledge and you readers' knowledge. Adults have a much wider vocabulary than children, so you can use more advanced words when writing them (e.g. eldery professor vs. young student), but they will still be formed and limited by their knowledge (e.g. Tony Stark wouldn't be able to identify most of Snape's potion ingredients, while Snape probably wouldn't understand very much if any of the Iron Man tech). So what about your readers' knowledge? Let's look at the first Eragon-book for a detail which illustrates why this is important to take into consideration.
Near the end of the book, when they are in the cave-system, C. Paolini wrote of a pink-orange sapphire rose. As a kid this bugged me, because it's common knowledge they're blue. As I got older and participated in a short gemmology class, I learned that not only does sapphires come in almost every colour (in fact, many rubies should be sold as pink sapphires because they don't fit the ruby-criteria), but one of the rarest and most expensive colour-variations of sapphire is the "pink-orange of the ultimate sunset" and it's called padparadscha. However, unless you have some kind of connection to the trade or are very interested in gems, you're not likely to have come across this information. It's not common knowledge, and on top of that Eragon was a farmer boy and was unlikely to be able to identify the stone as a sapphire without anyone pointing it out to him. So yes, while the information itself was correct, it would have been better to just describe it as a "pink-orange gem rose" and later have one of the inhabitants tell him more. Had he been a jeweler's son though he might have been able to identify it, and then to keep grumpy readers from getting annoyed (since it's not common knowledge) it might have been practical to let him marvel over how big and well carved that rare piece of stone was.
It's a bad idea to treat your reader like idiots, but if your character possesses knowledge which isn't likely to be known to your readers, sneak in hints here and there that they have the knowledge, then find little ways to explain/describe it which suits the situation if needed at all (like, really needed). Whether it's giving the basics to other characters (e.g. "The first law of alchemy is equivalent exchange."), or describing it when coming across it (e.g. "Shimmering scales, tuffed tail and tiny little antlers. This definitely was a juvenile glass dragon.") or whatever else you can think of.
Original Characters (OC:s):
If you want to use Original Characters in fanfiction, there are tons of different posts all around the web which tells you all the do:s and don't:s, but if I may point out one thing I think is among the most important and is often overlooked, then it is to make it seem natural for your character to exist in that universe.
I've read many fictions in fandoms I barely know, and most of the time you can instantly tell when a character doesn't belong, but other times I've read stories and only later learned a character was an OC. And in some fandoms where I keep a good track on the characters I've been able to forget some characters weren't originally there just from how well written they are, and that should be your goal.
There is nothing wrong with having an odd, quirky OC, but you must make their existence feel normal to the reader. Let's say you want to paint a dragon in Picasso's style, but just making it "blocky" won't be enough, you have to match the colours too. If well done, people will probably still see it isn't a work of Picasso (since he wasn't known for painting dragons), but it would still blend in and feel natural in a room full of other Picasso-paintings.
Another example is Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter (I know she's not an OC, but she's still a good example). Luna is definitely quirky. She sees/believes in things others don't believe in, she wears odd jewellery, she doesn't show the typical teenage drama and does what she wants. She is the proof you can have a character which "shouldn't" fit in but yet does, and that's because there are "rules" she still follows: She is a wand-waving witch, she has a normal patroni, she has normal hair/physical looks, she is (presumably) of average strength in both body and magic (and mind). So overall, the key to a good OC is balance.
Paragraphs:
For those of you who struggle with paragraphs, a good rule of thumb is TIP TOP: Time, Person, Topic, Place. If either changes, press enter. In old scripts where they had limited amount of paper they might've forgone it for economical reasons, but this is online, we have all the space we want available. Use it.
Also, I noticed some might think you must start with the speech when you swap person, but if you use quotation-marks that's not the case. Look at the following examples between A and B:
Example 1:
"You did what?!" B laughed.
"I killed them, dear A. Now it's your turn." Panicking A turned and ran.
Example 2:
"You did what?!"
B laughed. "I killed them, dear A. Now it's your turn."
Panicking A turned and ran.
See how different they feel? The first one feels like B just heard a joke, but it's later we understand what really happened. In the second we discover right away that B is the killer. The reason this is important is because in cases such as the first example it disrupts our reading flow, causing us to have to read it again to properly process what's going on, and if you have to do it all the time the risk is high your reader will abandon the story due getting annoyed.
Phrases/idioms and language barriers:
There are a ton of different idioms/sayings/phrases all around the world which people use all the time, but sometimes you should consider if a certain idiom really should be used, depending on what time-period, environmental/cultural settings etc you're using.
For example, describing something as spartan. Most of the time that's fine, but if it's in a fantasy world where Sparta never existed, would they really phrase it that way? Or in a story with medieval settings, would they really describe a kiss as a washing machine? (I've come across a case like that once, yes. No I will not tell you where it was. It was a story which tried to turn rape into romance and I hate that shit.) Or if your character haven't learned the language properly they might mistranslate one of their own sayings. In Sweden e.g. we don't say "close but no cigar", we say "close doesn't shoot a hare". In the right setting the reader will still understand the meaning, but it helps showing differences. This also works with characters which are from the same country but different areas, as some words/phrases might be unique for respective area (when I was younger I went to a school which was about 500km from where I grew up, it happened more than once my classmates had to ask wtf I just said). This also applies to different age-groups, professions and social status.
Do your characters speak different languages? If they aren't fluid they will have accents (not always needed to be written, and if you do so use it sparingly) and they will probably mix up words and grammar every now and then (I've probably done that a few times in this profile without noticing). If they don't know much of the language, there will likely be a lot of gestures and mumbling/humming as well. Don't they know anything from the other language? The things they will learn first (if they don't have a dictionary) will be stuff you can point at. And it will take time to learn it.
Another important thing to consider when you have characters with different linguistic backgrounds is body language. An English-speaking person would cross their fingers when wishing someone luck, while in Sweden we would hold our thumbs instead, because crossing your fingers means you're lying.
Do they speak sign language? That will also differ from area to area, so if two characters are from neighboring countries with similar languages (e.g. Sweden and Norway) they might understand 70-90% of what the other is saying. Different continents? Probably close to nothing.
Point of View (PoV):
Many writers have a habit of writing out from whose point of view we're reading in the beginning of a chapter/paragraph, e.g. [PoV: Name]. This is 99.9% of the time not needed and the last 0.1% it's only needed because the story it's badly written. It has actually gone so far that I will hesitate to read a story if I see this, because while there are many story which uses this that are good, even more aren't. So my recommendation if you use this is to look at your text and check if your reader in the chapters first paragraph/sentence can understand whose PoV it is without using it. Most of the time the answer is yes. Are you changing PoV in the middle of the chapter? Use a line-break and make sure again the reader can snap up whose PoV it is.
Also, don't overuse PoV-switching. Change it at most one or two times per chapter. Tops three if it's a very long chapter. Your reader is not a yo-yo, please do not treat them as such. This is especially important if you write in First-person-view, then you should stick to that person as much as you can.
Another thing about PoV which can help and also is a great tool to improve on characterization is to slightly adjust the style you write depending on whose PoV it is. An adult for example isn't going to observe their surroundings or use the same kind vocabulary as a little child would. I mean, would you really portray Nick Fury and Luna Lovegood the same way? The same scene would look vastly different depending on whose PoV we use.
Speaking of First-person-view, choosing which one to use (first-, second- or third-person) usually don't matter other that what you prefer to write (along with past or present tense). I've had teachers who say that a "first-person-view in present tense will make the reader feel more connected" which in my opinion is a lie. That statement depends on the reader's preferences: Personally I can't stand that most of the time, I don't feel any connection what so ever to them because their thought pattern and actions are so different from mine I just can't relate. For me, having it in third-person with a past tense allows me to connect to the character a lot more no matter how different from me they are. But I have friends who only read books if they're in first-person, so it's really up to you.
It might also be worth to note that if you chose third-person-view, there's a kind of scale which we'll call deep-omnipotent. What that refers to is "where" the reader is in relation to the character. The "deeper" you are, the closer to the character you are until you're in them, while if you go towards omnipotent you take on the roll of an all-knowing narrator, but with the risk of loosing the emotional connection to your characters (a solution to that can be to give the narrator their own attitude and voice: "Anybody else would've realized what a bad idea it was, but they were a special kind of stupid").
When it comes to second-person however, it's hardly used and for a good reason: Being in a you-format, it will tell your reader what they do/have done and that will usually annoy your reader. I've come across many stories in you-form, and the only good ones were the game-kind, you know the ones:
You sprint down the path, away from the snarling beast, when you suddenly arrive to a crossroad. To your left you see a sign for the Village, while to the right a sign for the Bridge. What will you do?
- I run to the Village! Maybe I can get help there! (Go to page X)
- I run to the Bridge! Maybe I can trick the beast into the water! (Go to page Y)
When it's not these kind of stories... well... I've only come across one which was decent (and I can't even remember what it was), the others were unfortunately pretty bad. So if you still want to try it (it's always good to experiment, I've been thinking about doing it myself sometime), what can you do to try and improve it? Here's my top three suggestions:
1) Stick to past tense if it isn't a game-book. It's definitely easier to read what you have done that what you're currently doing. Would you rather be re-told your life-story or live through it as a puppet?
2) If you make a romance, make it a slow burn and a healthy relationship. Most of the you-form stories I've come across have been Character x Reader (CxR), but the romance is always too fast, and it's always either insta-love or "R despising C who's a douchy Casanova and suddenly C kisses R and R falls flat for C because apparently the kiss was just that awesome". (Yes, I admit I have little patience for romance and especially these tropes which are the most common ones in this format.)
3) And lastly, ALWAYS SHOW when it's you-form. When it's in first- or third-person, you can sometimes get away with telling emotions such as "they felt a burning rage". But in you-form? Big no-no. Don't believe me? Read this:
"Why are you angry?"
"I'M NOT ANGRY!"
Familiar? It should be, because pretty much everyone have at least heard people have that conversation. The point is, we don't like being told what we feel, and second-person-view is really just a first-person-view focusing on you. It might work better to write:
Your hands balled up into fists, your face turned red and you were visibly shaking.
We can still tell you're pissed, but we're showing it instead of telling. If you're writing it so we know from the beginning we have a storyteller, it might give a nice effect to add little comments from the narrator from time to time: "I think it's safe to say you were furious, even though you never confirmed it."
Prejudices:
Here's something most people don't want to acknowledge: Everybody has prejudices. They might not be racist, misogynistic/misandristic or whatever else you might think of when you hear the word. The Oxford Dictionary definition is a "preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience", and as you can see it doesn't take into account what subjects that covers. So if you want to help your character seem more natural, you should consider what their prejudices are. It doesn't need to be anything big such as how people of colour behave or how stupid those filthy mudbloods are, it can be other stupid, random things that might peek out here and there in your writing. Like thinking everybody with glasses are smart, or that those in black don't like anything cute (I know plenty of metalheads and they are among the mushiest people ever when they see something cute). So that aside, what should you think of when sneaking in prejudices in your characters?
What is their prejudice and why do they have them? Where they raised by people with that view, has society shaped them into it or is it because of something else?
Do they acknowledge they have it? There's a big difference between having a prejudice and admitting it's there than denying it's existence. Why? Because if you're open with yourself that your opinion have no real source you're much more open to being proven wrong. Someone who doesn't admit to being prejudiced however are unlikely to change their opinion even if you shove hard scientific proof in their faces.
If you know these thing it may help you to write and develop your character.
Romance
I am not a big fan of romance, but if it's well written I can actually like it. It's just very, very seldom, because my tolerance for it is very low. So what is it that marks the difference between good and bad romance (for me)?
Good:
1) It's a healthy relationship.
2) If it's not a pre-existing relationship, that it's a slow burn. Let us see how it grows from a little seed they don't even know is there to a mighty tree that can brave any storms.
3) Complimentary personalities. E.g. Big and calm has a lithe and strict partner. They might be cold and dangerous when facing foes, and warm cinnamon buns with each others.
4) Smooth-flowing, consistent jargon. "I did it when I was their age." "Please don't compare yourself to normal people, honey."
5) Couples talking through their problems and not just drawing conclusions (see "Bad #16"). Communication is key in any relationship.
Bad:
1) Abusive relationships passed off as "romantic". It's not. I will only accept this if surrounding characters see it's abusive and tries to help them.
2) Stalking as a romantic trait.
3) A "Plain Jane" (normally with a description which puts them near/on the pretty scale) who don't know how fantastic they are until a boy tells them. In real life, they would either already know they look good, or their confidence is bad enough that Mr. Handsome's words/actions alone won't convince them otherwise.
4) Insta-love. Can we please let this trope die?!
5) Soulmates. See further down as for why.
6) The idea that sex=romance. That's a lie.
7) That all love=romance. There are many kinds of love, such as those between friends or with a pet.
8) Rape that turns into romance. Just don't. Please.
9) Claiming a rape-scene is BDSM. It's not. I might not be into it myself, but I have friends who are and I've heard enough of their rants about Fifty Shades to know the difference. (And it's supposedly not a very hard subject to research either.)
10) The "boy and girl are friends, therefor it must be romance" trope. It's possible for people of different genders to be friends without being romantically involved.
11) The "bully and victim falls in love" trope. Sure, they often say "Oh, he only did it because he likes you", but have it ever worked for anyone? It sure as hell didn't work on me: I have no positive feelings for my ex-bullies (at best they are neutral). Nor do I know anyone, or have heard of any case, where it worked. Can we please stop pretending that's the case?
12) Love-triangles. In real life, if A can't choose between B and C, they aren't going to try and "prove their worth". They might not even wait for A to make up their mind. The closest thing to an irl-triangle I've seen was when an old lady introduced another old lady to my mom, and then got jealous because they got along better with each other. That drama lasted one day and was only worthy one laugh for how silly it was.
13) "I'm not like other girls!" *Proceeds to be a stereotypical, flat-dimensioned version of a tomboy girl.* Can we please just accept that women aren't all the same and let this specific scenario die? Don't tell me they're unique and then write a classic stereotype, just show me instead. Give her quirks! A rare hobby/profession! Give her real emotions and feelings! Use your stereotypes wisely so you don't fall into a different stereotype when trying to avoid the first one.
14) When two characters are your average friendly with each other for several chapters with no hints what so ever there might be more going on and BAM, suddenly there's heavy kissing and a heartfelt (and mutual) confession. All I can think when I see that is "Excuse me but where the hell did that come from?". If you're going to turn a friendship into a romance (which is fine), you need to put in hints and clues bit by bit so we can see the change happening. This is necessary even if it's two background characters and your protagonist is about as observant as a brick-wall. Let your reader enjoy spotting something way ahead of the MC if that's the case.
15) The "Fixing the lack of attraction" trope. Now I don't come across this trope so often, most of the time the character who lacks attraction is either asexual, aromantic and/or traumatized in some way. In the latters case, the only "fixing" I can accept is therapy because it might not be the attraction itself that's the issue but the PTSD. But sadly most of the time that's not how it's written. And aces/aros don't need fixing, and to claim that is quite frankly insulting. If you really need to use this trope in some way, please please do proper research and understand the difference between various attractions, libdo/desires, traumas etc. etc.
16) Basing the plot on misunderstandings because they don't talk to each others. Or lie to each other when the truth really wouldn't have that bad consequences (and the times they do, they always end up together again instead of going different ways). If you're gonna use this trope, could you at least consider having them break up and the not get back together in the end?
17) Romance for the sake of romance. I don't know about you but I can in general spot right away when the author have squeezed in a romance just to have a romance in the story. One good example is Tauriel from the Hobbit movies. While she is a pretty decent character, I feel the only reason she was created (for those of you who've only seen the movies, she's not canon) was to create romantic tension between her and Kili, with Legolas silently pining after her (he doesn't even appear in the book). Like, I would have been fine with her if they had created her to have a bit more diversity, or to break the bechdel test which they still failed at (extra info about the test available further down), but no. It was all for some smoochy romance that wasn't even well written.
18) The Alpha-Omega trope. Particulary when it's about werewolves (or other mythological creatures). This trope is based on the "scientific wolf-pack concept" wich says the leaders of the pack is the alpha and the rest beta or omega. The problem is, that observation was soon debunked by the man who "discovered" it in the first place. He realized after further observations that alphas just was their parents. But by then people wouldn't listen so they still believe this shit. That's it. So for me, not only is the entire A-O-trope unrealistic, annoying and poorly used, I only get the feeling of incest and manipulations and abuse and so on even if none of it appears, just because I know the "Alphas" just really are the parents.
19) Having characters become stupid because they're in love. Especially common in books for 10-15 years old girls. Maybe it's just my unromantic, ace ass that can't understand it, but have anyone ever gotten that stupid just because someone (usually a boy) is cute and/or gives them attention? 'Cause I've never seen that irl, and it's just annoying.
20) The "naive=stupid" idea. Might not be a romance trope in itself, but it's most often used on a virgin female character who has a "romantic" plot. Now, naive doesn't mean stupid. Naive is defined as "showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgement" and "natural and unaffected; innocent". The definition of stupid is "having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense". So if the character is in a pickle because they lack the experience to anticipate the consequences, that's being naive. Unless they have been warned about it before hand or heard tales of it and still does it, cause then it's stupidity. And if you're uncertain if it's sonething your character should've learned about, try asking someone about it who has the experience. A good example of when this is poorly used is the "naive virgin trope", when prettly little ladies get's "introduced" to the world of intercourse by Mr. Handsome who has to explain everything to her cause she's a virgin and knows nothing. The problem with this trope is that unless she has lived a very, very isolated life and still not being told about stranger danger and all that jazz, she's going to have heard/seen some stuff. Probably even experienced some of it. (No really, it doesn't matter how "ugly" or whatever a woman is, I can almost garantee she have been harassed in some way. I've been harassed, and all women I know and have talked with have also been it at least once, often more. Some even before they hit puberty. There's a reason why #metoo got so big.) So sure, while it's fine they don't know all the terms and details etc., they will most likely be able to understand the gist of a lot of stuff.
Soulmates
My first recommendation when it comes to writing about soulmates is to not do it at all. Yes, I admit I vehemently dislike this trope (I could probably rant even more about all the reasons why), but if you really want to do it, here are some things I think you should consider/think on to avoid the most common traps:
1) Don't make soulmates a literal concept. The few times I've managed like this trope, is when the characters have developed such a tight bond they feel like soulmates, but there isn't a preexisting spiritual bond.
2) Make their relationship a healthy one. I know there are plenty of asshats out there in the real world, but there are far too many stories out there which tries to make abusive relationships seem romantic. My first issue with that is that it isn't fucking romantic (it's one thing if you have that as a subject in your plot and other characters are trying to help the abused one that think it's normal etc., but that's a different kind of trope). My second issue is that with this supposed destined spiritual bond is that they're supposed to be the ultimate match, so why one is being treated like trash by the other? Do you know what that tells me? That this "holy bond" says that one is less valuable and valid than the other, that they aren't equals. You could just as well have replaced them with a douchy wizard and a house elf. If you really need to have abuse in the soulmate-relationship, at least make sure it has consequences which are triggered by the bond itself and not an outsider.
3) Is the relationship really flawless? Now, to some it seem hypocritical of me after ranting about healthy relationships to ask this question, but here's the thing: Everybody have different opinions, viewpoints and ways to process things, so sometimes there will be misunderstandings or disagreements. That's not abusive, it's human, and every couple have their way of dealing with things. Now as the concept of soulmates normally states they're the Ultimate Match, they probably will be able to work things out fairly quickly, so instead of making a drawn-out conflict, maybe you want to give them a quirky way of handling it? I know for example a couple who once told me that when they had smaller disagreements (e.g. home-cooked vs. take-outs) they would grab their swords and shields and then they go out and spar about it.
4) Does it have to be a romantic one? I don't understand why platonic love is valued less than romantic, and the hype about the latter really bothers me because people tries to find happiness through another instead of finding it within themselves and sharing it with their companion. Besides, there are plenty of people out there who prefer to be in some kind of queer-platonic-relationship instead of the classic romantic one, or don't want one at all, and there is nothing wrong with that. The key any relationship is for everyone that's involved to be in it as equals, with consent, and communication. Just because you don't understand or desire something for yourself it doesn't mean it isn't valid. (And to any troll that might try pull the pedophile/beastiality card: Children and animals CAN'T GIVE CONSENT, therefore pedophiles are NOT a part of the LGBT-community no matter how much all the bullshit-propaganda might claim it is, you ignorant homophobic walnut!)
5) If you decide to go with the common name-on-body trope... Will it be visible for everyone? When does it appear? Will the placement be the same on everyone? If it's on a limb, what would happen if said limb was amputated? What would happen if the soulmate died? What if they made a name change? Or if they were an in-closet transgender, would it show their birth name or the name they think of themselves as? Can it be tattooed over? What if the name is in a language they can't even read (and if so, what if their family are racists)? For a blind person, would it be written in braille? What if it's a really, really common name? To what lengths would a "desperate love-hungry nutcase" go to find their soulmate? What about people who have been traumatized (possibly by the nutcase if they survived), would they try and hide to avoid getting into the same situation again? What if the soulmates are from vastly different classes (e.g. Princess Zelda and Link the orphan who was raised by a tree)?
6) If you go with some other visible/noticeable trait... e.g. a strand of hair or an eye that's the same colour as the soulmate's, seeing everything in gray-scale or a hue that's the same as the soulmates eyes colour until they meet them, or some kind of tattoo/symbol/birthmark. You'll have to ask pretty much the same questions as in the name one, with possible a few different addition/alterations. Let's take the hair-colour one for example: What if both characters have black hair? It's one of the most common hair-colours in the world, so statistically, there should be quite a few who ends up with this problem. How would they solve it? What about people who lose their hair due illness? Will they have a discoloured spot on their head? Will the soulmate have a bald spot?
7) Arranged marriages, what happens to those? Arranged marriages we're common back in the old days, and is still practiced in some areas today. But in an AU where soulmates exist, what would happen to that? You have to remember, that feelings were often disregarded as the arrangements usually were (and still are) a political/financial move. So what kind of consequences would that have? Would society as a whole where it's still practiced disregard it as unimportant? Would they actively try and temper with the mark (if they have one) to make it match their choice? What of cases where they think they were lucky because their names matched but it turned out they just have namesakes so they weren't the real matches?
Stereotypes:
I often notice (both in original works and in fanfiction) that stereotypes are either too obvious (e.g. all men/boys being sex-hyped and all women/girls being fashion-crazed shopaholics) or they try too hard to break them and end up with different stereotypes instead (e.g. "awkward and timid nerd boy with no social skills whatsoever" or the "Stong Woman who is acting like a macho-man and looking down on stereotypical feminine things"). I can't be the only one who's starting to tire of it, so what can one do to improve it?
Well one thing to remember, is that stereotypes are tools based on prejudices. It's been used and shaped by society on both purpose and subconsciously by commercials, politics, propaganda, etc. etc.
Do not be afraid to use stereotypes, but be smart with how you do it. Use it more as an inspiration than a truth. Let's say you want to have a constantly horny man, have him understand consent and being able to fucking get it when the other one isn't interested in their advances. Or if you want to write about a kick-ass woman who takes no shit and hate shopping, let her still admire embroideries etc.
If you're going to break the stereotypes, don't just grab the opposite kind. Think of it a bit like the colour wheel. Green and red are on the opposite side of it, they're each others contrast-colours, but many times that contrast can be too strong for everyday use, so instead you might grab a murky green and a soft purple - they're still different, but it's less likely to stab you in the eye. You can figuratively do the same thing with stereotypes.
Summaries
Summaries can be tricky, so here are my tips to improve on it:
1) Don't write that you're bad at summaries. That will definitely drive away your readers.
2) Avoid writing "What if" in the beginning. You are likely to get a better reception if you instead write "Where" instead (with or without changing tempus). Just look at these comparisons:
What if Link thought Poison Ivy was a Great Fairy?
vs.
Where Link thinks Poison Ivy is a Great Fairy.
What if Lockhart wasn't a fraud?
vs.
Where Lockhart wasn't a fraud.
As you can see, the first ones look like prompts, the second ones like summaries. Also, writing "what if" implies that the writer don't have a clear idea as to where it's going and will be dependent on the reader telling them where to take it, which might not only destroy the red line of the plot but also force the writer to abandon or restart the project, which also can make readers hesitate.
3) Don't just write "Full summary inside" and nothing more. Most people will ignore that. If your summary is really long, it's better to write a small part of it and then tell the full one is inside.
4) Remember that, in a way, a summary it's the preview of the first change-triggering event, the thing that get's the ball rolling.
When it comes to the summary itself, these my favorite kinds and tricks.
5) One way is to think "if this was a short prompt, what would it look like" and then replace the "what if" with "where" like in point 2.
6) You can also copy a small part of the dialogue or a scene in lieu of working together a summary, just remember that the chosen part must reflect the over all plot and/or tone of your story.
7) Look at your basic plot-line. If you remove all the subplots and stuff, what do you have left? This is probably what you should use in the summary.
8) If your story is very complex with many turns, focus on the main-plot of where things first start rolling. You don't need to tell the reader what the midpoint or climax of your story will be (as a matter of fact, that should be avoided). What you need to do is to lure them in with the promise of massive change early on.
9) If you feel your summary is too short, you can use a few key-word to compliment it with to give your reader an extra clue of what ahead, e.g. "kidnappings, sassy minions and a one-eyed dog". Be careful with using too many however, as that might imply the story lacks a consistent red thread. 3-5 "points" is usually enough, if you make sure you pick carefully. Ask yourself this: Which important event(s)/unique vip character(s) can be written vaguely enough it won't spoil the story yet still make the reader curious enough to pick it up and not be disappointed when they reach your baits?
Exercises
These are a few exercises I've come across either through school or otherwise, and that I've found useful or think might be useful for others.
Dialogue - Lies (Show don't tell)
Write a dialogue between two characters where one is lying, but you are not permitted to outright write that they lie. You need to show is through actions, body language, contradictions etc that they're lying. No kissin' (Romance)
Show two people falling in love without letting them kiss, have sex or confessions/say that they love each other. Technically this is kind of a show-don't-tell exercise as well, but I've seen so many people taking the easy/quick route of simply having two characters starting to kiss and/or confessing their feelings out of the blue without anything indicating beforehand that they have romantic feelings for each other... It's a quite jarring experience for a reader when that happens and not in a good way.
Pregnancy, mood, location (Show don't tell)
Write about a pregnant character, what mood they have and where they are without outright using words such as pregnant, happy, sad, forest, hospital etc.
Tests to Measure Representation etc. in Writing
There are various test one can use to analyze fiction, and here I will add them bit by bit as I come across them. I added the general subject in the titles for easier overview since just the names don't say much. Just be aware that these test don't necessarily measure how good or bad a book/movie/game is, but it gives you an understanding of common tendencies that people unconsciously follows without a second thought. Yes, many of them is about women, but read the section about the Bechdel and you will see why.
The Aila Test (Indigenous women)
Created by Ali Nahdee (and occationaly refered to as Nahdee's Test), The Aila Test (named after Aila in Rhymes for Young Ghouls) was inspired by the Bechdel Test (see below) and asks three questions (about a Main Character):
1) Is she an Indigenous/Native/Aboriginal woman?
2) ...Who does not fall in love with a white man?
3) ...And does not end up raped or murdered at any point in the story?
The Anti-Freeze Test/Thor's Mum Rule (Women)
These two get to share as they are related.
Anti-freeze states "No woman assaulted, injured, or killed to further the story of another character". Now, it's nothing wrong with having characters killed to further the plot and other characters, but when that's their only purpose? If you need to kill off a character and don't want the character to be "frozen", you can look at the Thor's Mum Rule, which basically means that if you're going to kill a character who has carried any part of the plot, imagine what the plot would be if the character in question was the MC, and that the story ended when they died. If it isn't satisfying, rewrite their plot-points and/or their death to make both meaningful. In other words, don't treat characters solely as angst-fuel for your MC.
The Bechdel Test (Women)
A.k.a. the Bechdel-Wallace-test. Probably the most well known of these tests. This test consist of three questions, and all that's needed to pass it is to answer yes on following three questions:
1) Are there two or more named women in the story?
2) Do they speak to each other?
3) Do they speak of something other than men?
That doesn't sound too hard, right? It's enough to pass the test if it's one scene. However, most movies and books actually fail this. I saw on the news that 2018, 45% of Swedish films produced that year passed this test, and that that's an unusually high number - internationally. Let that sink in for a bit.
Chekov's Friend (Where did they go?)
When a named character with any kind of connection to the MC is no longer a convenient plot device, don't just let them disappear. Let their character arc/plot be resolved in a way that is reasonable and satisfying. (It doesn't have to be a happy end, but it must make sense.)
The Chavez-Perez Test (PoC)
This test is very similar to the Bechdel, but with people of colour (PoC) instead. It has these questions:
1) Are the two or more non-white, named people?
2) Do they talk to each other?
3) Do they talk about something other than crime?
Sadly, most fiction (at least in the west) fail this test as well. Don't have any exact numbers though.
The Finkbeiner Test (Female scientists)
This test is actually meant for journalists to avoid gender-bias in media about women in science, but I feel it can more or less be applied to litterature as well. In order to pass this test, following seven points must NOT be in the article:
1) That she is a woman
2) Her husband's job
3) Her childcare arrangements
4) How she nurtures her underlings
5) How she was taken aback by the competitiveness in her field
6) How she is a role model for other women
7) How she's the "first woman to..."
Now some may ask "why these questions", but let's face it: With male scientists, they don't point out he's a man, or what job his wife has (though if he's gay they most definitely will point that part out) or how they arrange childcare and so on. They only do that with women, hence the test.
The Furiosa Test ("The Misogynimeter")
This test might be tricky to test with fanfiction or any fiction that's only small scale, but I found it so funny I had to include it. It doesn't have specific questions like most of these test, instead it's about how certain readers will react to it. And what reaction is that?
When misogynists boycott it.
A Tumblr-user called roachpatrol explained it like this: "It was formally named during the kerfuffle around Mad Max: Fury Road. If Men’s Rights Activists declare the movie to be feminist propaganda and demand a boycott (excuse me, a mancott), the movie has passed the Furiosa Test."
If you still feel uncertain of what it means, I would suggest reading up about the character that named the test, Furiosa. I would suggest following link: fanlore [dot] org/wiki/Furiosa
The Mako Mori Test (Women)
Similar to Bechdel, as it tests female representation. It has this requirement:
At least one female character, who has her own narrative arc, which isn't about supporting a mans story. That's it.
The Russo Test (LGBT)
This test is the "LGBT edition" of the Bechdel and Chavez-Perez, and have these qualifications:
1) That there's a character that is identifiably lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, etc.
2) That character must not be solely or predominantly defined by their sexual orientation or gender identity. I.E. they are made up of the same sort of unique character traits commonly used to differentiate straight characters from one another.
3) The LGBT character must be tied into the plot in such a way that their removal would have a significant effect. Meaning they are not there to simply provide colorful commentary, paint urban authenticity, or (perhaps most commonly) set up a punchline. The character should matter.
The Roxane Gay (Revised Bechdel)
An updated, six-part version of the Bechdel test:
1) A woman's story is being told. She is not relegated to the role of sidekick, romantic interest, or bit player.
2) Her world is populated with intelligent women who also have stories worth telling, even if their stories aren't the focus of the story.
3) If she must engage in a romantic storyline, she doesn't have to compromise her sanity or common sense for love.
4) At least half the time, this woman needs to be a woman of color and/or a transgender woman and/or a queer woman because all these women exist! Though she is different, her story should not focus solely on this difference because she is a sum of her parts. She is not the token. She has friends who look like her so they need to show up once in a while.
5) She cannot live in an inexplicably perfect apartment in an expensive city with no visible means of affording said inexplicably perfect apartment.
6) She doesn't have to live up to an unrealistic feminist standard. She can and should be human. She just needs to be intelligent and witty and interesting in the way women, the world over are, if we ever got a chance to really know them on the silver screen.
The Sexy Lamp Test (Usefulness)
This test is mainly focusing on women as well, but with a bit of tweaking it could work with other characters as well. The point of this test is to check if the character has a purpose in the plot. So how is it done?
Well, you take a (female) character and replace it with an inanimate object (a sexy lamp) and if the plot still works... well, you should rework your character and probably the plot.
The reason they use a "sexy lamp" in this test, is because most characters it applies to are only there as fap-material/fan-service/etc. It's okay to have sexy characters, but they need to have a bit of depth as well as a purpose to the plot.
The Smurfette Principle (Male-Female ratio)
Do you have a group consisting of a number of men and only one woman?
The "Strength is Relative" (Complex women)
This is to check if the women are complex/defined by solid characterization instead of masculine-coded stereotypes (which often are underdeveloped).
The Tauriel Test (Competent women)
Based on Tauriel from the Hobbit movies. It's question?
Does the story have at least one female who is good at her job?
List of challenges/suggestions/prompts
Now, this list of prompts are things I'd like to read. Or write, if I had had time to do it which I don't. (Sure, some I might write later on anyway, but that doesn't matter.) Some are quite detailed but I've tried to leave most of them fairly open. If you want to you may send me a PM if you have questions or want to know if I have more ideas/inspiration etc.
There are both crossovers and regulars in there. All are sorted in alphabetical order and by category.
You can combine them anyway you want. Some of them I was actually considering to have as one and on those I've left notes referring to each other. Please try to keep the characters somewhat in character, but if you really want them OOC, it's your decision. Also feel free to do whatever pairings you like. Personally I usually stick to canon-parings if I use them at all, but if you like non-canon (or just want to challenge yourself): go ahead.
Also, you don't need to ask for permission/give credit if you don't want to, but it would be nice if you did so others who might enjoy prompts can find it. Other than that I just want a link to it so I can read it :)
TRIGGER WARNING (TW): If you have any triggers, you'll probably find something about it here. Please proceed with caution.
The different categories are:
Any story of your choice
Fullmetal Alchemist
Harry Potter
Marvel/DC
The Legend of Zelda
Fullmetal Alchemist - Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
Fullmetal Alchemist - Marvel/DC
Harry Potter - Disney and other cartoons/animations etc.

The Legend of Zelda - Marvel/DC
The Legend of Zelda - Professor Layton
[Multiple crossovers]
Any story of your choice
This part of the challenges can be used with any story, whether it be regular or crossover, fantasy or crime fictions, or something completely different. You can even use it in your own personal projects. I would be thrilled if that happened!
Bad Pairing Challenge
Write a pairing you don't like and make it work. It doesn't have to be a canon pairing, but you have to make your best to give the reader a reason as to why they would date each other. Keep them as much in character as possible!
LGBTQIA(plus)
Take inspiration from the LGBT community. Maybe have a non-binary character? An asexual or demi one? Someone whose sexual and romantic attraction aren't aligned? It doesn't need to be the main character(s) or have the plot revolve around the queerness itself, just include some non-staight and or non-cis characters that aren't tokens.
And to any troll that might try pull the pedophile/beastiality card: Children and animals CAN'T GIVE CONSENT, therefore pedophiles are NOT a part of the LGBT-community no matter how much bullshit-propaganda might claim it is, you ignorant homophobic walnut!
Realistic Chloroform
Use chloroform in a realistic way. Because it takes about 5 minuets to knock someone out with it, and they stopped using it as anesthetics since people sometimes died from it. You can read this wikipedia page if you want to know a bit more: /wiki/Chloroform#Criminal_use
Realistic Genderbend
Swap the gender on one/some/all characters and make them act realistically without going to much out of character. I'll be honest, I'm not really into gender-swap stories, but that's because almost all I've encountered the males that goes female get a sudden burst of tears, motherly feelings and feebleness (or turn into the stereotypical Strong Woman TM), while the females that goes male have a tendency to go robotic, macho (or nerdy), or turn into some kind of Casanova. It gets boring, predictable and annoying unfortunately. I know you guys can do better than that, so show me!
Realistic Pairing
For those of you who likes odd pairings (or are annoyed at bad ones): Make it realistic. Give your chosen characters a plausible reason to date each other without making them go out of character. The only "big" thing you may change is their sexual preferences if it's necessary to even make them consider it, but that's kind of a given.
Trapdoor
Your character(s) of choice falls through a trapdoor or find a secret passage. Because I like trapdoors.
Fullmetal Alchemist*
*"03" is for the ones mainly based on the first anime, "MB" for the ones mainly based on the manga and Brotherhood anime. If it isn't marked with either it won't matter, even though I personally would've used the manga.
Armstrong the Fifth Sacrifice (MB)
What if the homunculi chose to use Major Armstrong as the fifth sacrifice instead of Colonel Mustang? How would they capture him? What toll would he pay? Would he already know it because it has been passed down the Armstrong-line for generations?
Chimera Subordinate
One of Colonel Roy Mustangs subordinates is a chimera and have been since before they got under his wing, and nobody in the team knows, not even Roy.
Who is it? What are they merged with? What kind of power(s) do they have and what does their transformed self look like? When did it happen?
Preferable if it isn't Edward, he's been used often enough...
Chimera Trouble
Edward and Alphonse are sent to the north-western area of Amestris to investigate sudden appearances of chimeras. Searching for the hidden lab they find a small cottage in the woods with two inhabitants - a man and a woman. They make the brothers stay over the night and through the windows they can see chimeras - some of them humane - lurking around. They explain that they too are chimeras and that the scientist behind it all calls himself Dr. Acula, who has a sick fascination for mythical creatures. They tell the brothers that Acula ran away from the lab when they broke free, but that they are willing to show them where it is so they can search for clues. Do they find any useful clues? Where have Dr. Acula gone? What kind of troubles/horrors will they face?
I suggest that the lady is an owl-chimera. She would look like a human but have golden eyes like an owl (I saw in front of me the brothers' confusion over the so similar eyes, that why I wanted to use it), and just like an owl, she wouldn't be able to move her eyes and instead compensating it with a very flexible neck. Also when she turns into her "Harpy-form" she doesn't sprout wings from her back but it's her arms that becomes big wings. Also, being fused with an owl, she would be able to fly silently.
I was considering to fuse the man with a bear, but I think it might be a better idea to use a wolf and base him on werewolves.
Dr. Acula must be fused with a bat and terrorize a city with his vampire-ism. I have at least one attack from this guy on Edward in mind, but I think it would be better to take that one in a PM.
I'm In Trouble
Kain Fuery meets Scar in the middle of the night. They're alone and Fuery is unarmed. What will happen?
Could be used with the HP-FMA crossover It's Fuery Nowadays.
Memory Monster
Falman and Sheska gets married and have a child. Considering how good memory those two have - even if it's in slightly different ways - what kind of memory would their kid have?
Could be either a simple fluff story or if you want more adventure someone could be trying to target their child for whatever reason.
Saved by Adorableness
In a FMA-Brotherhood omaka they outright show that Scar has a weakness for cute things (in that case it was Xiao Mei). So what if he found Edward... somewhat endearing, when he sacrifices himself to keep his body-less brother safe? Unable to murder the child, he kidnaps him instead in order to "save" him from the military. Edward does not appreciate the gesture.
I have seen a few Parental!Scar fictions, and I have to admit that when they're well written or still keep Scar in character despite the parental streak addition I tend to like them. Unfortunately they're rarely finished or a bit to much OOC for my tastes.
Serial Killers and Teachers
Scar is about to kill Edward when Izumi shows up. Bonus if Ed tries to hide behind Scar.
The Camera
How did Maes Hughes acquire his camera anyway?
Harry Potter
All true
What if Lockhart wasn't a fraud? If he had done everything he said in his books? What if he pretended to be a fraud because he knew something was going to happen at Hogwarts and didn't want the culprit to know what he was up to?
Basically, it's Competent!Powerful!Lockhart.
I have some ideas for this.
Almost Bitten
Black tricks Snape to the Shrieking Shack, and James Potter doesn't find it out. Luckily for Snape, he gets there so late that when Lupin is about to bite him he transforms back into his human shape. What will Lupin say when he realizes he was merely a second away from turning or even killing the boy in front of him? How will that change things between them?
I imagine this as a Friendship!tale and have a couple of vague ideas for it.
Boa Pet
When Harry accidentally freed the snake in the zoo on Dudley's birthday, he decides to go with the snake. Unable to get to Brazil they sneak around on the streets of London, trying to avoid getting caught. Will someone from the magical world find them or will they stumble upon the magical world first? If the first, whom? And is it school-related? If the latter, how will the wizards react to the Boy-Who-Lived with a big snake around his shoulders?
Broken Imperio
Lucius Malfoy claimed he was following the Dark Lord due to the Imperio-curse. What if it turned out to be true? Cursed by his own father Abraxas, the curse is broken first when the man dies (which must happen sometime after the dark lords fall and before Harry starts Hogwarts) or broken actively by the man himself just before his death and Lucius realizes just what kind of things he has been doing. What will Lucius do?
Could be used with the I Don't Want This Kind of Hero crossover Lost Son.
Burning Touch
You know that Voldemort was unable to touch Harry without getting burned (up until he used his blood to resurrect himself). And you also know that Harry is a horcrux. But what if that horcrux made it impossible for Harry to touch his own bare skin without getting burns?
Casanova Secrets
In the books, practically all females are drooling over Lockhart. Why is that? Good looks and fame can only go so far after all. Right?
Can be used with Collecting Memories.
Collecting Memories
We all know Lockhart stole the stories and glory from the real heroes in his book before he obliviated them, but how did he go about to do it? How did he make them tell him everything? How did nobody see what he was up to?
Can be used with Casanova Secrets.
CPR
What if one could survive the Killing Curse simply with the help of CPR?
You can use this with Harry and Cedric in the Graveyard assuming Harry stuns Wormtail etc. or with Snape and Lily in Godric's Hollow or you can use a whole other scenario.
The CPR-scene may not cause a sudden romance between the receiver and giver of it.
Cursed Sleep
What if there was a secret dark curse which put it's victim into a coma, and the only way to wake them up was through the Cruciatus curse? Basically a nastier version of a "Sleeping Beauty's Spell".
Is Frank Longbottom put under it and no-one knows? Has somebody else been put under it? Or will someone be cursed it? Will anyone from the light find the solution? Will anyone who from the dark side reveal it?
Could be used in The Horcrux with a Scar.
Dobby's Help
When Dobby appears in Harry's bedroom to warn him from going to Hogwarts, he discovers the boy seriously wounded and unconscious. The house-elf really doesn't want to let Harry Potter go to Hogwarts, but from the looks of it, the young wizard might be in danger from his own family. Now what will Dobby do to save Harry but still keep him from Hogwarts?
Dobby's Sleep-spell
To stop Harry Potter from going to Hogwarts, he puts the young wizard into a coma. How will the Dursleys react when Harry won't wake up? What about the wizards?
Don't. Mess. With. The. Squib.
The Battle of Hogwarts is drawing to a close, and Filch sees all the destruction that he is going to have to clean up. And he know who's fault it really is in the end: The old snake face's. Filch vs. Voldemort.
Ferret Malfoy and Muggles
Draco Malfoy gets turned into a ferret and is found by a muggle. Believing it's a lost pet, the muggle takes him in and tries to find it owner while Malfoy tries to find out how to escape and turn into a human again.
What sorts of things will Draco go through? Is it a male or female muggle? Will he be taken to the vet? How will he deal with muggle technology? Will he see any movies? Will it be Disney, Monty Python, Mel Brooks, Indiana Jones or something completely different? What about videogames? Music? Remember that the books takes place between mainly 1991-98, so if it takes time during his school-time try and adjust technology accordingly.
He Wasn't Falsely Imprisoned
When Harry rushes to the Ministry to save Sirius, he does find him there - only to discover he has walked into a trap and that Sirius was a Death Eater all along.
Basically Evil!Sirius and Good!Imperioed?Pettigrew.
Did Harry bring any other students with him or did he manage to rush off on his own?
How does he handle Sirius betrayal? Does Sirius feel any regret at all?
What will the Death Eaters do to him? Do they kidnap him or try to kill him?
What is Pettigrew role in all of this? Was he really the one who sacrificed his hand?
Hogwarts really is the safest
One might question just how safe Hogwarts is with all the things that happens there, but what if it truly is the safest wizarding school out there? Write about one or several of the other schools and the dangers they present.
House-elf Interference
In most suicide-centred fictions, it's usually a special ward or a teacher or a fellow student that finds them in time. This time I want you to use a house-elf.
Could be used in Tournament Suicide.
Howling Spam
The majority of the wizarding community is sending howlers to Lord Voldemort. What does the howlers say scream? Have they added any additional charms? About how many are sent? Do they arrive at the same time? How does Voldemort deal with them?
If Snape watched instead
What if it was Snape that observed the Dursleys instead of McGonagall the day before Harry was dropped off? Seeing as he knew Petunia from his childhood, would he have tried to affect Dumbledore about Harry's placement?
Interrupted Counter-Curses
When Hermione puts professor Snape's robe on fire, Quirrell is not knocked over. What will happen to Harry when his broom is utterly at Quirrell's mercy?
Involuntary Traitor
Percy is usually considered a traitor for leaving his family, but what if it was because Pettigrew had put him under the Imperio curse shortly after being taken in as a pet and was secretly controlling the boy all along?
What were Pettigrew's reasons for doing it on an unsuspecting child? Had Percy done something? Who's wand did he use? Or did he wait until Percy started Hogwarts? Did he ever do something else to Percy?
Mama Lestrange
This challenge is probably most suitable for some psychological horror-ish fiction: Write a PARENTAL Neville Bellatrix story. Neville must have grown up with his gran at least long enough to really know and understand what happened to his parents and who's fault it is. Can be one-sided. Keep them as much In Character as possible.
Good luck.
Mr. and Mrs. Flitwick
Everybody knows Professor Flitwick is half (or at least part) goblin. But goblins and humans usually dislikes each other, so how did his parents meet? Who's side is goblin? Was it a happy marriage? Were they married at all?
Muggle Living Program
Lockhart had the brilliant idea that the pure-bloods and half-blood who had grown up in a wizarding environment should spend half the summer with someone who had grown up in a muggle-house before they switch. Getting a clear to go from the minister himself and setting up schedules before anyone has realized what he's done, Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter are stuck with each other for the whole summer. How will that go, especially with Sirius Black on the lose?
Will they share room or will Harry be stuck in the cupboard again?
How will the Dursleys react to being forced to take on another "freak"?
How will Malfoy react to the Dursleys?
How much do Draco know about Black? Since his mother is Sirius' cousin he should at least recognise the name.
If you want, you could add two more students so they spend 1/4 of the summer in each place, I suggest you add Hermoine and Neville into the picture if that's the case but it's all up to you.
You can use other wizards/witches if you want to.
I'll be honest with you; originally, this was supposed to be my own personal Bad Pairing challenge (see the Any story of your choice category). It's not that I don't like stuff regarding homosexuality etc., I really couldn't care less if they're the same gender or not, it's that I don't think they work as a pair. I have read a few "Drarry" stories and if they've managed to make it work somewhat, they're always OOC. Your job - if you decide to make it a Drarry at all - is to keep them as much in character as possible. But if you don't want to make that pairing, that is totally cool too.
Neighbour Tittle-tattler
Pre-Hogwarts. A neigbour to the Dursleys (not mrs. Figg) notices that they are abusing their nephew and brings in the authorities.
You decide the abuse-level, but the canon-level is minimum.
No Firenze
What if Firenze didn't show up in time or at all when Harry was attacked by Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest during his detention in his first year?
I've found one story with this concept but it has never gotten past chapter one and is since 2004. If you wish to read it for inspiration etc (sadly I don't think the writer will to pick it up again though I hope so), here's the link: Unicorn Blood
Obliviated Dark Lord
Gildroy Lockhart defeats Voldemort with the only spell he can handle: The memory-charm obliviate. How will the Wizarding World deal with a Dark Lord who doesn't know who he is, what magic is or how to be evil? How will his minions deal with it? What about Harry?
Oh, it's you Amigo!
During Lockhart's "Dueling Club" Malfoy conjures a snake, as we all already knows. But it isn't just any snake: it happens to be the very same boa constrictor that Harry let lose in the zoo before he got his Hogwarts-letter, and the snake recognizes Harry. What happens then?
Bonus if Harry and the snake end up doing an "Am not - Are too" or similar.
One Gone, One Convicted (crossover-friendly)
Harry Potter has gone missing, and Severus Snape is convicted for his murder. Meanwhile, Harry is trying to find a way back home.
How did Harry disappear and where did he go? Is he still in England or even this world? (You can have him go to any universe you like, e.g. Hyrule, Gotham or something original.)
Why do they believe Snape killed him? What sentence will he receive? Will he get a trial at all?
When does this happen?
Will somebody come to either's rescue?
If you want to, you can use other characters than Harry and Snape.
Can be used with the Harry Potter and Legend of Zelda crossover Harry the Sage.
Overheard
What if Snape overheard when Peter Pettigrew told the Dark Lord of the Potters' location?
Someone Competent
Instead of going to Lockhart, Harry and Ron goes to a competent teacher for help when they're about to rescue Ginny.
St. Brutus School
The Dursleys managed to enroll Harry to St. Brutus School for Incurably Criminal Boys. Will Harry survive that kind of environment? Is he enrolled before or during Hogwarts and if the latter, which year? How will Dumbledore and/or other wizards react to it, do they find out at all?
The Grindylows' Attack
What if Harry failed to free himself from the grindylows at the end of the second task?
The Horcrux with a Scar
Voldemort finds out Harry is a Horcrux, and since he used Harry's blood to resurrect himself he can pass the wards. So he kidnaps Harry for "safe keeping".
Now, I know there are quite many stories out there with a similar build up (especially with the blood-part), and while many are very good, they still usually contains the same kind of things, so YOUR job is to avoid those things. Also some suggestions on what you can use but if you have a better idea: Go for it!
So:
No torture of Harry (physical, mental or emotional).
No "romantic bonding".
No sexual bonding either.
No damp cell.
No "over luxurious" cell either.
No mansion.
Drugs could be okay, I can't recall seeing one with that.
Farmhouse or a wood cabin would be okay.
Boat or even a submarine could work.
Keeping him in a vault might possibly work.
A "crystal-prison" like in some Zelda-games is an interesting option; if you can make it work in the Potter-verse.
A modified version of the Dark Mark might be an option to keeping him in line.
He could be put into a coma. Possibly like in Cursed Sleep.
Can be used with the Harry Potter and Legend of Zelda crossover Harry the Sage.
Preferable if it isn't Snape, Dumbledore or someone else from the Order that saves Harry. Maybe you could try using muggles for that?
Have a couple of ideas, a bit depending on what you pick and not.
Thestral Animagus
We've all encountered stories when a character (usually Harry) has a magical creature (usually a phoenix) as their animagus-form. This time I want to see them having something more unusual as their form. Preferably a thestral (thus the title) but if you want you can use something else too.
Tournament Suicide
Being called a cheater and a liar by pretty much the entire wizarding world and even his friends, Harry finally cracks and decides to kill himself. Will he succeed?
His attempt must occur before the graveyard, and if you choose to let it happen late in the story, try to "remove" Harry's reasons to live (such as Ron getting over his jealousy). Also, try to remember that suicide often isn't a "spur of the moment thing" so you really must try to make the reader feel Harry's despair.
Suggestions on how he might try and kill himself:
Poisoning from either a potion or a basilisk fang.
Jumping off a tower or a broom.
Using a knife or a rope.
Using a spell on himself (e.g. Avada Kedavra or Diffindo).
Using bludgers.
Using a plant (e.g. Devil's Snare).
Summoning a snake to either bite or crush him.
Getting lost in the Forbidden Forest on purpose.
Walking up to the dragon.
Letting the grindylows pull him down in the deep.
Answering the sphinx' riddle wrong on purpose.
House-elf Interference could be used as an element in this.
Too Much Is Still Not Enough
Professor Snape gets so annoyed at the students, that he ends up taking a Calming Potion. And then another. And another. And another. In other words, he ends up getting high on Calming Potions. How will he end up acting and how will the rest of the staff keep him from taking more?
Troll in the Greenhouse
It might help if you've played (or at least watched a play-through) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to the GameCube since this idea is based on what happened when I played it. Now, what happened was that when I fought the Troll in the Greenhouse-maze I took a lethal hit just as I defeated it, so as soon as the little cut-scene of the troll falling over was done, Harry collapsed (thank Merlin I didn't have to fight it again!) and that gave me this idea.
So, Harry goes to the greenhouses to pick something up and encounters a troll there. Having no way to flee he has to fight for his life. He does manage to defeat the troll but is gravely (or even lethally) injured and passes out. Does somebody find him? Who in that case? Is the troll alive? Does it wake up? Why is it there?
Bonus if Harry uses the spell Spongify to defeat the troll.
You can watch a play-through here ( /8VOf851Swxg?t=5m36s ) and while it's not me who's playing it went pretty much the same way, except that I died at the end and accidentally jumped up on the troll so Harry was temporarily stuck jumping on it's head (bonus if you can add that too).
I have a couple of small ideas for this.
Unfrozen (crossover-friendly)
What if Harry had been petrified down in the chamber of secrets? And then left there until someone years or maybe even centuries later finds and cures him?
Who found him and how?
How have the world changed? Do they remember him at all?
Are any of his friends still alive?
Is Voldemort in control or is he gone? What about the horcrux in Harry's scar?
Could be used with Young Founder or as a crossover with Captain America.
Vanishing Bones
During the Quidditch-game in Harry's second year the "rough" bludger didn't break his arm - it broke a rib. So what Lockhart tries to heal it but instead vanished his whole ribcage? Will Harry survive the event at all?
Voldemort and the Queen's Handbag
Have you seen the skit where the British Prime Minister sends an owl to "whomever it may concern, as long as they can use magic" regarding the Queen's missing handbag? And Ron and Harry comment it with "Sounds a bit desperate" and "He's not very choosy, is he". What would've happened if that letter was delivered to Voldemort?
Where Did Fluffy Go?
Like the title said: Where did Fluffy go? What happened to him after the Philosopher's Stone fiasco?
Why He Didn't Tell
Give Remus Lupin a logical reason as to why he didn't tell anyone that Sirius Black was an animagi.
I suggest some kind of Unbreakable Vow or possibly the Fidelius charm.
Young Founder
When Salazar Slytherin left the school he didn't actually leave it - he only hid in a room with necessary charms and a letter before dosing himself with the Draught of the Living Dead, making sure that if nobody has given him the antidote he will automatically awaken during Hogwarts 1000-year anniversary even if that means he'll be a child again.
The basic concept here is that the "Draught of the Living Dead" is in reality a very slow acting de-ageing potion and that the apparent "death" is simply a by-product. If we assume he was 41 when they founded the school and that he "left" when he was 111, and that he then would de-age about 5-6 weeks per year, he would have turned into an eleven-year old by the time he woke up.
He has to remember everything.
It's up to you which year he wakes up, but I would suggest the second year in first hand.
Bonus if he's not a Potions Master (don't take me wrong, I love him as a Potions Master, but almost everyone makes him that and it would be fun to see something different for once).
What about the language barrier?
Did he have a wife or any other family that "followed" him into his "trip into the future"? I would enjoy it if his wife wasn't a pureblood - she might even have been a muggle! The argument could be that "pureblood" back then referred to those who had "fresh blood" in their veins and not making it "dirty by constant re-use" or something and that. Just something that would make him aghast as to what people think about him after all that time.
One option is to use Vikings in the story a bit, maybe his wife is one or maybe their first rune-teacher was one. After all, Vikings often went to England and even Scotland, and usually the end of the "general Viking-era" is considered to be year 1066 with the Battle of Hastings so technically they could have met up with each others.
Could be used with Unfrozen.
Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
DwarrowdamsIt's hinted that both male and female dwarrows sport beards and that most men can't tell the difference, so what if a majority and/or all of the dwarrows in the Company are actually Dwarrowdams? And that any misgendering is simply a case of mistranslation/grammatical error (eg. they believing King is for the ruler and Queen is for the spouse no matter if it's a man or a woman on the throne).
Gullible Dragons
Where Bilbo manages to truly trick Smaug into giving up the Arkenstone. Does he trick him in some other way too?
It's Need, Not Greed
What if there was a reason other than greed to why Smaug took Erebor?
Kidnap Yourself a Burglar
What if Bilbo didn't go willingly but instead was kidnapped by the dwarrows and/or Gandalf to be their burglar? How did they do it? How does he try to escape? Will he ever stop trying to get away from the company? How does his unwillingness to come affect things?
Lobelia and the Unexpected Journey
What if it was Lobelia Sackville-Baggins who joined the company of Thorin Oakenshield instead of Bilbo? Why did she join? Was it because of the gold or something else? How will she handle everything they come across? Preferable if she's a bad-ass, no-nonsense kind of person but it's up to you.
Not Bilbo
What if it wasn't Bilbo who fell down in Goblin Town and met Gollum? What if it was one of the dwarrows instead?
Can be used with Not Gollum.
Not Gollum
What if it wasn't Gollum who was below Goblin Town, but another LotR/Hobbit character?
Who is it? Are they good or bad?
Do they have the ring or is that still with Gollum? If so, where's Gollum? And how will the lack of the Ring affect the plot?
Can be used with Not Bilbo.
Marvel/DC
These two gets to share a category because they often have crossovers between themselves anyway.
Bruces
Where Bruce Banner/Hulk meets Bruce Wayne/Batman. I'll leave it up to you if it's as friends or foes, normal- or hero-mode(s), and you know, what context it will be.
Different ice
When Steve crashes the plane, the Tesseract (which can either be still on the plane or just close enough) transports him to Jotunheim.
Is it a jotun or someone/something else who find's him? Is it Loki?
If Loki, how will it affect the events of the first Avenger's movie?
Alternative to the Zelda-Marvel crossover with the same name.
Can be used with Swap the brothers.
Half but the same
Where Thanos snapping only erased the bodies, but the souls stayed intact and in order to not fade they each ended up "possessing" one of the still living each.
Who ends up with whom?
Is it completely random or some kind of system to it?
Can be used with the Harry Potter-Marvel crossover Fury and Luna.
Oldschool Medication
Medication in the old days could be pretty weird and/or right down dangerous/having the opposite effect. Coughing? Have some cough syrup containing heroin or chloroform. Toothache? Cocain toothache drops. Asthma? Your medication is now smoking cigarettes.
So what if Steve and/or Bucky tries to help someone and offer things that are in efficient and/or illegal for years (maybe even from before WW2?) just because they haven't been updated in modern medication?
Swap the brothers (Crossover-friendly)
Where instead of Loki being the one who fell off Bifrost and ended up with the Chitauri, it was Thor; So it is Thor who steals the Tesseract and Loki who is sent to retrieve him.
So you will probably have to explain what have happened to Mjolnir since Thor was unable to save himself with it, but I personally would have let the hammer scatter at the same time as the Bifrost. But other options if you need the hammer later could for example be to let it still be on Earth, or have it deem Thor unworthy again for using it to destroy the bridge. But it's all up to you.
I also would like to know how Loki's relation between Frigga and Odin have been effected by Thor's fall, and if Odin have to do something to convince Loki to go fetch his brother.
How have Sif and Warriors Three been affected by the loss of Thor? What about Heimdall? Or the rest of Asgard?
Would the theft of the Tesseract turn out in a different way when led by Thor? What about the presence of Selvig? What will Jane say?
Can Loki deduce Thor is being controlled himself just by how he is acting? (E.g. "My brother is not smart enough to come up such a scheme on his own.")
How well will Loki cooperate with the rest of the Avengers?
Will Thor attempt to use Loki's frost giant ancestry against him?
The Legend of Zelda
A New Buddy
How did Ravio and Sheerow meet? If you want to speculate in what Sheerow is you can either make up something on your own or you can go with something crossover(ish) like a Lorulian version of Loftwing, phoenix or post-owl, or some kind of pokémon. Though I would personally go with a kind of Muckle (a.k.a. "small creatures") from Pettson and Findus (a.k.a. Festus and Mercury in some places).
From Sage to Monster
In A Link Between Worlds, it seems like the only ones who don't have a counterpart are the Sages. But what if the Sages of Lorule didn't disappear/died out, but instead were turned into the different Bosses when the Triforce was destroyed? How fast did that transformation happen? Did they lose their minds or where they trapped inside the beasts, only able to witness and not infer?
Kafei the Time-traveller
Option to Saving Kafei. When they're trapped in Sakon's hideout, Kafei tells Link to get out if he can. Heartbroken that he can't save Kafei too, Link tells him about his time-travelling and promises that next time they'll make it. But it turns out that by doing so, Kafei too remembers what happened when Link goes back in time. How will that change things? Have Link won himself a new companion?
Majora's Ravio
For those of you who are familiar with the Zelda time-line, you already know it's split in three: The fallen hero, the child and the adult time-lines. Majora's Mask takes place in the child time-line, while a Link Between Worlds (where the Mask can be found in Link's house) takes place in the fallen time-line. So that means, there's a chance the Mask in ALBW is still possessed. So what if Ravio ends up possessed by Majora?
How did it happen? Was he just examining/messing around with it? Or did the Mask somehow affect him and made him put it on? And if so, why hadn't it affected Link earlier? (I would go with it needing it's victim being distressed etc., but it's all up to you.)
Not Only Words
Kaepora Gaebora (the talk-active owl) saves Link. How and from what is up to you.
Because I like owls and think KG is an underrated character.
Origin of the Twinrovas
Write about how Kotake and Koume turned out the way they did and how the three Gerudo Kings before Ganondorf were dealing with things. After all, the Twinrova twins were 400 years old and there is one male born every 100 year. How did they raise Ganondorf?
It must cover their childhood.
Pipit to the Rescue
When Link is about to fall through the clouds, Pipit saves him - scared that Link might be attempting suicide out of depression or something. When Link explains the situation, what will Pipit do? Will he let Link go or will he come along? Will he do something else? Where were Link trying to jump down?
Puppet Ravio
Ravio get's back to Lorule to soon, and Yuga/Ganon uses his magic to possess Ravio and use him as a weapon (like Ganondorf does with Zelda in Twilight Princess). Will Link be able to save his friend without injuring him? Will his true identity be revealed during the battle and does that change anything?
Rupee Magic
Where the reason Ravio love money so much is because he needs rupees in order to use magic (which he in turn needs in order to go back home). Did he get the ability to use magic at all from the Great Rupee Fairy or is that simply how Lorulian magic works after they lost their Triforce? Or does he have a different kind of item which drains rupees when used (like the Magic Armour in Twilight Princess)?
Saving Kafei
Option to Kafei the Time-traveller. Link has saved Termina from the falling moon but he can't stop to rest, because Kafei is still trapped in Sakon's hideout. Will the guards or somebody else from Clocktown help him? How will he/they even get in?
Have a couple of ideas for this.
Skett and Akoot (Crossover-friendly)
Write something using the Guards of the Rito Chieftain from Wind Waker. I find them way to underrated.
Spirit of the Lorian Master Sword: Ghirahim (Crossover-friendly)
Where Ghirahim was the Master Sword of Lorule in the same was Fi was the one of Hyrule, but due the destruction of the Triforce he was either corrupted and banished into the "void of time and space" (etc) or a similar kind of dimention-rift was created under the blade with the destruction and Demise got hold of him that way and corrupted him himself. Does it happen in some other way?
How was he before the corruption? Did he notice/analyze the change?
Does he remember anything of his previous self? If so, does he draw any pararells between Link and the "Original Ravio"?
What happened to him after the defeat of Demise?
When the Triforece of Lorule is restored, does Ghirahim return there? Will he meet Hilda and Ravio and what will he think of them?
Is he still corrupted? What kind of trauma does he have? Can he be helped?
Can be used as a crossover, for example with any prompt involving Ravio.
Two In One
Finding Link on the brink of death Ravio does the only thing he can to save Mr. Hero's life: He merges them into one being.
How will Link and Ravio fare sharing a body? Is one in constant control or do they swap? If the latter, can they control the swap, does something trigger it or does it happen at random?
Do they have any special ability the other one don't?
How will Link react to the way he learned Ravio is his counterpart?
How will people around them react?
Fullmetal Alchemist - Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
Adding an Alchemist
What if you were to add and alchemist to the Company of Thorin Oakenshield or the Fellowship of the Ring?
Which Alchemist is it? Is it one or both of the Elric-brothers? Colonel Mustang? Major Armstrong? Izumi or Scar perhaps?
Are there any other from the FMA-universe who've come along?
Can be used with homonculi and/or other non-alchemists too.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Marvel/DC
These two gets to share a category because they often have crossovers between themselves anyway.
Angry boys
Hulk vs. Wrath. Are there other homunculi involved in the fight? What are their reactions to the Incredible Hulk? Or are they simply in an anger management class? Option to Hulk vs Sloth.
Avengers and Alchemy
What if Edward, Ling and Envy ended up somewhere in the Marvel Universe instead when they tried to escape Gluttony's fake Gate? Personally I would have them appear about the same time as Loki and connect the change to the Tesseract, but that's all up to you. Also, if you can find a good way of adjusting it, you could have had Ling accept Greed somewhere before Gluttony swallowed them.
Can be used with Shields.
Gearhead interruption
Winry tries to get a chance to examine Bucky's arm. Bonus if she successfully interrupts a fight in her quest to do so.
Hawks
Between the two Hawkeyes - Riza and Clint - who has the best aim? What if they were to change weapons with each other?
Housewives and Black Widows
Izumi Curtis and Natasha Romanoff meet each other. How and why is up to you.
Hulk and the Housewife
Bruce Banner/The Hulk meets Izumi Curtis.
Hulk vs Sloth
What the title says. Are there other homunculi involved in the fight? What are their reactions to the Incredible Hulk? Option to Angry boys.
Hydra and the Housewife
Tha Avengers and/or S.H.I.E.L.D. are about to storm a Hydra-base (possibly due rumors of certain hostages, but I leave it up to you) when they spot a civilian woman single-handedly knock out the guards and enter. Now the question is, who needs saving? The hostages (if you use any), the mysterious woman or the Hydra agents?
Why is Izumi Curtis there? Is Sig there too? Or any characters other from FMA?
Did Hydra have any hostages? If so, is it Ed and/or Al or is it somebody else?
Can Izumi still use her alchemy? Will she bother to do it?
How will the Avengers/S.H.I.E.L.D. react to her? How will she react to them? Can she tell them apart or will she think they're part of Hydra?
Before catching up to her, will the Avengers/S.H.I.E.L.D. see Hydra-agents flee the premises?
Kindness in a Can and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Where Alphonse Elric ends up in the Marvel Universe, and attracts the attention av S.H.I.E.L.D. All Al wants is to find his way back to his brother, not to be hunted by a possibly volatile organization. It's up to you if he appears during WWII or sometime during 21th century.
Can be used with Metal arms.
Metal arms
Where the reason Hydra managed to give Bucky a metal arm was because they had managed to get hold of Edward Elric and his automail. Have Ed too been turned into an Asset or did he manage to escape?
If you want to you can either add Captain Buccaneer or have him replace Edward.
Can be used with Kindness in a Can and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Muscle Friendship
Hulk meets Sig Curtis and/or Major Alex Luis Armstrong.
Shields
S.H.I.E.L.D. meets Greed aka The Ultimate Shield. When do they meet? How? Why? What will the reactions be?
Can be used with Avengers and Alchemy.
Spider chimera
Where Peter Parker is accused of being a spider chimera after having ended up in Amestris. And having heard horrifying stories of what happens with chimeras, he is prioritizing not getting caught.
Stone of Souls
Thanos sacrificed his daughter to gain the Soul Stone, but what if the information was wrong, so it wasn't for the Soul Stone but a Stone of Souls? A Philosopher's Stone to be more precise, and that said Stone ended up being one of the homunculi who ends up possessing Gamora's body. To bad for Thanos the honunculus isn't feeling like cooperating.
It's up to you which homunculi he summons, but I would vote for Lust, or possibly Greed or Pride.
Truthfully Unexpected Trip
What if the "snapped" souls didn't stay in the Soul Stone, but instead went through the gate and ends up in Amestris?
It's up to you if it's just the souls of the heroes or if it's everyone.
Do any of them meet the Truth on the way? Do all of them? If so, is there a toll when they come from that way and if so what do they pay?
Harry Potter - Disney and other cartoons/animations etc.
Different kind of magic animals
(Princess and the Frog) Where Newt Scamander arrives in New Orleans instead (or makes a detour there to/from New York) and find a couple of talking frogs. When his spells fail to turn Tiana and Naveen back, he accompanies them on their quest.
Living the History
(Sword in the Stone) Harry Potter and/or some other magical people ends up in Merlin's time as he is teaching Ward. Basically the reversed of Merlin it's Merlin/King Arthur!.
Can be used with Madam Mim and Lord Voldemort.
Madam Mim and Lord Voldemort
(Sword in the Stone) Madam Mim and Voldemort meets each other. How will that meeting pan out?
Can be used with Living the History or Merlin it's Merlin/King Arthur.
Merlin it's Merlin/King Arthur!
(Sword in the Stone) Merlin and/or Arthur ends up in Hogwarts. Did Merlin take himself/Arthur/them there? If Arthur is there, has he become king yet? How will the school deal with it? Basically the reversed of Living the History.
Can be used with Madam Mim and Lord Voldemort.
Harry Potter - Fullmetal Alchemist*
*"03" is for the ones mainly based on the first anime, "MB" for the ones mainly based on the manga and Brotherhood anime. If it isn't marked with either it won't matter, even though I personally would've used the manga.
Amestrian Flattail
Charlie Weasley loves dragons, but there is one he really would like to see. One that is considered to be nothing but a legend and appearing on a nation's flag: The Amestrian Flattail. Two legged, wingless and with a long, flat tail, it's supposed to be more magnificent and/or intelligent than any other dragon-breed. Determined to find out once and for all if it's real or not, Charlie heads to Amestris. Norberta may or may not accompany him.
Charlie and the Elric brothers must meet.
If you wish you can write it from the Elrics' POV and have them stumble upon Charlie by accident or because they've been sent to investigate him.
Can be used as an element in It's Fuery Nowadays and/or Snape of the Amestrian Military.
Blacks and Greed (MB)
Okay so this challenge can be seen from so many angles so I'm going to chop up the description quite a bit.
Regulus Black is saved by Kreacher from the inferi in the cave were he stole the horcrux. Once he recovers he tries and fails to destroy the locket. Desperate he decides to jump through the veil with the locket since he knows the veil might not result in death. Just before he jumps through he sets Kreacher free with his school tie so he can lie without disobeying his masters.
Regulus ends up in the Devil's Nest and when Greed successfully destroys the locket (due to being a homunculus) Reg stays with him and his gang and starts to learn alchemy (or maybe he saw the Truth while passing through?). He must survive when Bradley and the soldiers eventually crash the place (16 years later).
Regulus might or might not save Bido from Greed.
Sirius Black ends up in Amestris too after falling through the Veil. I suggest he ends up with Edward and the two chimeras just after the explosion in the mine or when they are at the hospital. He sticks with them.
It's up to you if Regulus (and Bido?) joins the party before or after or at the same time as GreedLing.
At the final battle Reg or Sirius saves Greed by conjuring a flask around him.
They find a way back to England. Greed (and Bido?) goes with them. I suggest they end up in different places and that Regulus destroys the veil.
Greed takes over the body of someone Harry doesn't like. I suggest Draco (preferably in front of Voldemort) but you can take someone else e.g. Fudge or Umbridge (poor Greed!) etc.
Regulus takes a job at Hogwarts as either the DADA or an Alchemy professor. Sirius is under the disguise as his dog (glamoured to look like Border Collie etc.) Bido could be his assistant.
Neville at Fort Briggs was supposed to be a part of this.
I have plenty of ideas for this one.
Chimera Harry (MB)
Harry was dumped in a lab by the Dursleys as a baby (if they knew it was a lab or thought it was an orphanage is up to you) and is turned into a chimera. When he is about four he and the other chimeras are somehow saved by Greed and they raise him in the Devil's Nest. He survives the Führers attack on the place due to being out on an (possibly Hogwarts-related) errand. He knows basic alchemy and has learned to "pop" (apparate) before he starts Hogwarts.
Harry must be merged with a predator, preferably one that hasn't been used in canon. Maybe a panther or a bird. Or, if you wish to crack it up or something, you can make him a spider-chimera. Just imagine all the Spiderman references you can use, or Ron's horror if he'd ever realize, or Harry's panic when the basilisk is on the loose!
If you can find a good explanation for it you can merge him with a magical creature, like a thestral (would that make him invisible for muggles?) or possibly if you have a plausible reason for it a basilisk (though I imagine the other chimearas would joke about him being Greed's and Martel's love-child in that case, having snake-like powers like Martel and able to harden his skin like Greed).
I suggest that the horcrux in Harry's scar was destroyed in the transmutation. Harry might or might not have seen the Truth at that point. (He would remember it due to the dementors if that's the case.)
Harry may save Hughes or Greed if you wish, but only one of them. Sure, I can't stop you from having him save both, but a bit of angst tends to spices up most stories.
I have a bunch of ideas for this.
Ed vs the German Legless (03)
Ed is in the Triwizard Tournament and is about to face his dragon: Which turns out to be Envy. Based on the FMA-movie "Conqueror of Shamballa".
Greedemort
Greed takes over Voldemort's body. Does Voldemort's splintered soul survive it? What does Greed think of his new body? Can Greed use magic?
Greed Trolling Voldemort
For those of you who like to have Greed reincarnated in Harry (or possessing him or what else you can come up with), I have a few wishes of things I'd like to see when Greed meets Voldemort:
Year one: Over-all insulting and possibly absorbing the stone in front of Voldemort. Also being rather nonchalant when facing the troll and the challenges on the third floor.
Year two: "Fistfight" with the basilisk and destroying the diary with his ultimate shield (I imagine that homunculi can destroy horcruxes). Greed might be killed by the basilisk once.
Year three: Not much of Voldemort this year, but I'd still like to see a fistfight with Lupin in his warewolf-shape.
Year four: Too greedy to share the victory with Cedric results in Greed being alone in the graveyard. Greed is the Ultimate Shield. Wormtail needs to cut him to forcibly take blood from the enemy. So it's basically the Ultimate Shield vs a knife...
Year five: Bothering Umbridge (see It's my policy to never tell lies). Insults and fighting in the ministry.
Year six: Await the Death Eaters at the Vanishing Cabinet or uses it before them. Might also have cut off Dumbledore's arm to stop the curse from killing him.
Year seven: Keeping Voldemort's snatchers busy by yelling Voldemort's name and then beating the snatchers to little pulps just to get information out of them. Also at the Battle of Hogwarts it would be great if Nagini tries to bite him. Tries.
If you want to have Greed in someone else but still use these, that's okay too.
Hufflepuff Bad Boy
Edward Elric is sorted into Hufflepuff. I mean, c'mon, he is very hard working, loyal and just (even if it's in his own, sometimes violent way) so he would fit there.
He must earn the nickname of "The Hufflepuff Bad Boy".
Hughes is bothering Snape
Maes Hughes is bothering Snape with his family album.
Can be used as an element in Snape of the Amestrian Military or it can take place in Hogwarts or even in the afterlife.
It's Fuery/Hughes Nowadays
After the third wizarding war and Voldemort's death things are looking pretty good. For awhile. Something happens and Harry (18-20 years old) is once again thrown under the knight bus. Sick and tired of how the magical community treats him he fakes his own death, goes to a faraway almost hidden country and gets a new identity. The country? Amestris. His new name? Kain Fuery or Maes Hughes.
It's up to you how Harry "dies", or how he deals with loose ends that could've held him back (such as Teddy Lupin or Ginny).
Hermoine, Ron and Mrs. Weasley may not know the truth. (Doesn't have to be bashing!)
Can be used with Snape of the Amestrian Military.
I have a few ideas for this on as well.
It's my policy to never tell lies
Have Greed deal with Umbridge. Detention is just one option. Can be used as a part of other stories.
Kimbley and the Dementors (MB)
In the manga/brotherhood series, when Solf J. Kimbley becomes a part of Pride's stone he is able to keep his individuality, claiming that the screams of the other souls are like music to his ears. Now that makes me wonder, what would happen if Kimbley met dementors? What would he see? Would he be horrified or would he enjoy it?
Long Lost Uncle/Father (Regular-friendly)
James Potter had a squib-brother nobody really knew about. In order to keep him safe his memory was blocked and he was sent abroad to Amestris under the false name [Insert FMA-character of your choice]. After several years he recovers his memories and decides to go back to England to see if he have any family left, only to find his nephew in an abusive household.
Who is Harry's uncle?
How did the memories return? Were they triggered by something or did it just happen anyway?
How bad is the abuse? Is it "only" canon-level or is it worse?
When does he appear? Before or during Harry's time a Hogwarts?
Did Dumbledore or somebody else know about him?
I suggest that you use Maes Hughes or Kain Fuery cause they probably are the ones that looks most similar to James and Harry, but you can use someone else like Roy Mustang, Jean Havoc, Sig Curtis, Sgt. Brosch, Garfield from Rush Valley or whoever else you can think of. (Or if you prefer to make them Lily's brother, then I would suggest using H. Breda.
You can even go with a female if you prefer that but IF you do that, I beg of you to not let her suddenly turn into an overemotional mother-figure. It's fine with emotions and stuff, but close to all stories I've read where a female character adopts a child they go out of character and ALWAYS in the same way. Always. Seriously, I know you can to better than that because one can be caring and not cry a river of tears and so on.
Yet another option is to let James survive but lose his memory and disappear in the fight with Voldemort. Possibly some slight de-aging depending on what character you decide to use. Should still be Hughes or Fuery though.
Can be used as a regular or a crossover with some other fandom.
Muggle Adoption Program
Edward OR Alphonse Elric ends up in this world de-aged and is put into an orphanage. Due to some dunderhead at the Ministry of Magic, Snape is forced to adopt a muggle child. When visiting an orphanage he picks the child which seems to be most sharp: Elric.
How old is Edward/Alphonse and how did he get here? Why did he de-age? Does he know it?
Why is Snape forced to adoption? Is it because his treatment of the students or because he's a Death Eater? If the latter, are other Death Eaters forced to adopt as well?
When does the adoption occur?
Who's idea was it?
Did somebody else cross over? Are they de-aged?
If so: will they meet up with each other?
Will he/they return to their original age or will they have to grow up again?
Will Ed/Al (and the possible others) be able to get home?
Can be used with other characters and/or as a regular story or a crossover with some other fandom.
Neville at Fort Briggs (MB)
Neville Longbottom was supposed to floo to somebody named Ford Riggs but ends up in Fort Briggs of Amestris instead. With no floo-powder, he is stuck there. Whether General Olivier Mira Armstrong knows about magic or not is up to you. After all, the knowledge of wizards might have been passed down through the Armstrong-line for generations!
Was supposed to be a part of Blacks and Greed but it could work really well on it's own as well which is why I put it up separately.
I have some ideas for this.
Poor Voldy
Have Voldemort piss off someone from FMA, for example Izumi or Sig, or one of the Armstrong siblings, or a homunculus or Scar etc. Make old Voldy regret it too.
Can be used with something else but FMA too I suppose. Just have fun with it :)
Reincarnations
For those of you who like writing reincarnation-fictions, I have some wishes:
Daphne Greengrass as the reincarnation of Olivier Mira Armstrong (because both are know of as Ice Queens).
Tracey Davis as the reincarnation of Izumi Curtis (please find someone to reincarnate her husband Sig too).
Colin Creevy as the reincarnation of Maes Hughes (please find someone to reincarnate his wife Gracia too).
If you can pull it off, Seamus Finnegan could be the reincarnation of Roy Mustang (just because of fire).
Harry Potter as the reincarnation of Kain Fuery (because they're small, dark haired and have glasses, and I would enjoy seeing a technician Harry (if you want to, go check out the Reincarnated Three Times challenge under Mulitple Crossovers)).
Or, if you want a harder challenge, write about wizards and witches who are reincarnated to Amestris (e.g. Alphonse being the reincarnation of Neville).
Sev and Zumi
What if Izumi had been Severus older sister? It's up to you if Izumi is able to use magic or not. Have fun with it :)
Snape of the Amestrian Military (MB)
Snape is saved by Fawkes at the Battle of Hogwarts. Seeing the war is over (but not knowing the winner?) he decides to slip away before anybody realizes he is alive. Fawkes (now Snape's familiar) takes him to Amestris and for some reason Snape will end up in the military.
He must work either under General Olivier Mira Armstrong or under Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes.
You decide his rank and if he will use his own name or an alias.
Can be used with It's Fuery/Hughes Nowadays.
Have a couple of ideas.
The Armour and the Cat
Al picks up a cat again. McGonagall is not amused and tries to figure out how to get out of the situation.
I have a couple of ideas. Can be used as an element in It's Fuery/Hughes Nowadays and/or Snape of the Amestrian Military.
The Kissed Boy (03)
A Hogwarts student finds a naked, unresponsive boy during a Hogsmead Weekend. It seems like one of the dementors guarding the grounds kissed the child but that a small part of the soul was left - enough to keep the body alive and capable of responding to some simpler things, but not enough to verbal or other more advanced responses (the level is roughly of "Here's a broom, sweep this floor, please" and he would silently sweep the floor). Not willing to leave the child trapped in St. Mungos, believing being around other children will help the boys small soul-piece grow, Dumbledore takes him to Hogwarts.
What nobody knows is that the boy is Alphonse Elric from another world.
The concept is that in the transmutation Alphonse was sent to this world, but before he got through Edward managed to attach Al's soul (or at least most of it) to the armour so only Al's body got through. When Alphonse later on brings back Edward in the underground ball room his soul is reunited with his body. Now according to my rough calculations, if Al shows up in year 3/PoA his soul should come back to his body sometime during year 7/DH or just afterwards. I suggest letting it happen just before or maybe even during the Battle of Hogwarts. Imagine all the havoc an underestimated alchemist can do - especially one who can control armours!
Assuming Edward still got through and met with his father and Alfons, will he encounter Alphonse? Does he find out about the wizarding world?
The Wizarding Way to Make the Philosopher's Stone (Regular-friendly)
In FMA, the Philosopher's Stone is made up by the souls of living humans. In HP, dementors eats souls. So what if dementors were created in order to collect souls for a stone?
Was it Nicholas Flamel or somebody else who created the dementors?
Does anybody else but the creator know about their true purpose?
Are the dementors supposed to make the victim relieve their worst memories or is it just a side-effect?
Are the souls automatically transferred to a stone or will they need to be collected?
Who discovers the truth and how do they find it out?
Doesn't have to be used as a crossover if you don't want to, but I figured it would do best in this section since it's based on the FMA-version of the Philosopher's Stone.
Triwizard Prince/Emperor (MB)
Ling Yao is forced to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. It's up to you if it features GreedLing or Emperor-Ling.
Wrong Hostage
Sargeant Major Fuery is kidnapped by Death Eaters who mistook him for Harry Potter on his day off. How will he get out of this pickle? Will Colonel Mustangs squad or the Order of the Phoenix be able to reach him before he is killed or worse?
Harry Potter - Good Omens
Potter the Angel/Demon
Where Aziraphale or Crowley for whatever reason you find suitable end up as Harry Potter. If they remember their past right away or only regains it later or bit by bit is all up to you. And whether or not the other one knows what has happened and/or where they are is up to you.
Professor Device
Where Anathema Device becomes the Divination teacher at Hogwarts.
The Angel Malfoy and the Demon Weasley
Where Aziraphale and Crowley for some reason (punishment/mission/mistake/God hiding them from their respective offices/etc.) are turned into human babies and grow up as pureblood wizards - Aziraphale as Draco Malfoy and Crowley as Ron Weasley.
Do they remember anything of their "previous" lives or does it come back to them in bits and pieces?
How much of their accidental magic is actually accidental miracles?
Voldemort and the Antichrist/Demon
Voldemort manages to summon the Antichrist and/or a demon and demands their aid. Pity Adam Young/Crowley don't feel like obeying.
Harry Potter - I Don't Want This Kind of Hero
Disturbed Vacation
While on vacation in England, Spoon encounters a Death Eater attack. What will they do?
Haze and the Horcrux(es)
Haze (the spirit hunting/using, somewhat greedy hero) discovers Harry has a part of a soul attached to him. Can he remove it? Will he do it for free or try and get paid for it? Will Dumbledore (or Harry or Snape I guess) be able to convince/hire him to hunt down the rest of the horcruxes?
Lost Son
The Demon King Solomon has a half-human son who disappeared as a toddler. Lucius Malfoy is in for some rather shocking news...
Did Lucius mother have a contract with the Demon King before Hyena or did they meet in some other way?
Did Lucius know Abraxas wasn't his real father?
Has he inherited any special powers?
Does Solomon search out Lucius or can Hyena summon him? Or do they simply stumble upon each other? Maybe Lord Voldemort tried to summon him and King Solomon spotted Lucius there?
Can be used with other demons like Dale or Nocturn, or other wizards/witches like Severus Snape, Harry Potter or Luna Lovegood.
Don't ask me how I got this idea, it just got stuck and I liked it.
Could be used with the Harry Potter regular Broken Imperio.
Spoon at Hogwarts
The people at Spoon are invited to Hogwarts. Are they there on a mission or for tutoring? If the former, what's the mission? If the latter, which houses will they be sorted into? In which year does it take place? Is anybody from Knife there? Can Naga teleport in Hogwarts or is he affected by the anti-apparation wards?
Harry Potter - Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
Albus the... Colourful
When Dumbledore died he went on to the Next Great Adventure - in Middle Earth. Will he accompany the Dwarrows and Bilbo? The Fellowship? Does he go on his own quest for Lemon Drops?
Charlie and Smaug
Charlie Weasley gets to meet the dragon that has laid siege to Erebor. Smaug doesn't understand why the human is so excited instead of frightened - or why he smell of dragons.
Cupids of Erebor
Okay, so, slight back story: I noticed there was hardly any fiction where the dwarrows ends up in the HP-universe, and so I started to mentally go through the HP-books to see if they mention dwarves there at all. And I realized that yes, they are mentioned at least once; In "Chamber of Secrets" Lockhart somehow manages to hire a dozen dwarves to act as cupids during Valentine. And since I then was struck with the mental image of those dwarves being the Company, you'll have to suffer it too. Congratulations.
How much you elaborate on this is up to you, if you just keep it as a drabble or if you make it a full scale tale of how they ended up there and how Lockhart bribed them or anything in between or beyond.
Forbidden Mirkwood Forest
What if there was a long forgotten gate/portal between the Forbidden Forest and Mirkwood, and someone(s) accidentally passed through it?
Is it the Company of Thorin Oakenshield who ends up in the Forbidden Forest? Or is it Harry Potter and/or some other wizards/witches who end up in Mirkwood?
Option to the LoZ-LotR/Hobbit crossover Lost (Mirk)Woods
Master of Smaug
Smaug said he is Death. Harry Potter, by obtaining all three Deathly Hallows, is the Master of Death. What if that gave Harry the power over Smaug?
Smaug in the Tournament
Where instead of facing the Hungarian Horntail, Harry comes face to face with Smaug.
Harry Potter - Marvel/DC
These two gets to share a category because they often have crossovers between themselves anyway.
Blue Wrackspurts
Loki tries to control Luna with the help of the Sceptre, but that silly little mortal does not cooperate despite her eyes glowing blue. And what in the nine realms is a wrackspurt?!
Fury and Luna
Somehow Director Fury and Luna Lovegood end up swapping bodies. How will the people around them react and how will they get back to their respective bodies?
How did it happen? Did Luna or one of Fury's scientists make an experiment that went wrong? Was it a magical attack on either or both of them?
Can be used with the Marvel regular Half but the same.
Hulk and the Tournament
To be honest I just really want to see Hulk smash a dragon. But it would be interesting to see him solve the second task (and if he's and official competitor, who it is that he'll "sorely miss"), and to see him obliterate the third task.
So, why is Bruce at Hogwarts? Was he passing through while either running from General Ross or while on a mission with the Avengers? Or has he for some reason been de-aged and is at Hogwarts for that reason? And if so, will Hulk also de-age or will he still be an adult?
Was he entered into the tournament or does he just interrupt the tasks anyway?
How is Hulk affected by spells (if at all)?
Option to the Hobbit - Marvel crossover Hulk vs. Smaug.
HULK NO TROLL!
Where Quirrell somehow got hold of Hulk either along with the troll or instead of it and let him loose in the castle.
Did Hulk see who it was that managed to kidnap him?
If he was let loose with the troll, will he fight it?
How will he react to the children and the teachers?
Does Hermoine and/or Harry who grew up in the muggle-world recognize Hulk from the news?
If Hulk is still in the castle when he transforms back, how will Bruce react to everything?
If he was grabbed alone and transform back before meeting anybody, how will that affect things?
Luna and Hulk
Bruce Banner/Hulk comes across a girl with dreamy eyes who is not faced at all by the green giant.
Spiderman and the Basilisk
"Spiders flee before it" it says in the section about basilisks, so how will Spiderman react to it?
The Avengers and the Dish-boy
The Dursleys are invited to the event in Germany and for whatever reason Harry has to come with them. But unwilling to let him take part of the glamour, they manage to arrange it so he'll work as a dish-boy instead as a "punishment". So when Loki attacks, Harry's Hero-complex kicks in and he tries to defend the people there.
Does Harry attack him by throwing dishware at the god or will he use magic? Will it be a combination of both? Is he even carrying his wand?
If Loki can sense magic, how will he react to the little mortal?
What will the Avengers reaction to Harry be?
Will Harry try and get out of there in panic or will he cooperate and follow them to the Helicarrier.
Does anybody in S.H.I.E.L.D. know about magic?
What about the Dursleys? What will they say about the happenings? Or were they killed by Loki?
Must take place either before Harry starts Hogwarts or during the summer in his earlier years.
Who's a good car?
Where Tony is doting on the Weasley's old Ford Anglia. How did he come across the car? Was he saved by it in the Forbidden Forest? If so, why was Tony there?
Young Fury
Nick Fury is somehow separated from S.H.I.E.L.D./The Avengers, de-aged and found by wizards. Not understanding that he's just good at reading people they think he might be a natural legilimence that's at the risk of becoming an obscurus since he obviously doesn't show any other signs of magic. In a desperate attempt to stop him from becoming an obscurus they take him to Hogwarts.
When and where was Fury de-aged?
How did it happen?
How old did he get?
Who found him?
How will Fury react to the magical folks who have been hiding under his nose all along?
Will they give him an eye like Moody have?
Will Fury let go of his paranoia long enough to attempt to send an owl or will he try to find some other way to contact S.H.I.E.L.D./The Avengers? Or will he try and stay there to learn more of this secret society?
Will he be able to get back to his original age?
Harry Potter - One Piece
Neville and Brook
Neville is kidnapped by pirates (muggle or magical) as a child, but when said pirates encounter a Ghost Ship with a talking skeleton they give it Neville and treasures just to not be cursed. Brook (who has been alone for a long time again since the Strawhat Pirates died long ago) is happy for some company and teaches Neville all sorts of things while they try to get Neville back to England.
How do the pirates manage to kidnap Neville?
What does Brook say/do that makes them sacrifice their hostage?
What does Brook teach Neville? (Music? Fighting? Reading? Something else?)
Does Brook have any Devil Fruit on the ship? Which one(s)? Does Neville get to eat it?
How long will their journey take?
What happens when they get back to England? Will they find Mrs. Longbottom?
If you want to, you could have Marco the Phoenix from the Whitebeard Pirates there; assuming he has burning days like a real phoenix and grows up over and over again every time he dies (unless his death involved a seastone or drowning).
Could be used with Pirates in the Department of Mysteries.
Perona and the Death Eaters
Perona (the girl in pink with the negativity-ghosts) encounters Death Eaters. How will they fare against her ghosts? How about Voldemort? Or magical creatures such as werewolves or even dementors?
Could be used as a part of another story.
Pirates in the Department of Mysteries
When they are at a somewhat stand-still in the room with the veil, instead of the Order showing up, a certain humming is coming from the veil and out steps a skeleton with afro. How will Brook deal with the Death Eaters? Does the Avada Kedavra work on him? Did he bring anybody with him? What will the Order say about him when they arrive? What about the ministry?
If you adjust it a bit, it could be used with Neville and Brook.
Harry Potter - Professor Layton
History Professor
Professor Layton is hired as the History Professor of Hogwarts. If he's replacing Binns or just filling in is up to you.
The Puzzle of the Chamber
When students start to become petrified, Dumbledore calls in the muggle Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke Triton to solve the mystery.
Luke's ability to talk to animals must be revealed at the same time as Harry's parseltongue-ability.
I suggest Luke is taken to the Chamber along with Ginny, but that decision is up to you.
Useful Filth
Luke Triton is kidnapped by Death Eaters on Voldemort's orders. While he is still considered as a filthy muggle, they deem him useful due to his ability to speak to all animals. What will they do to him? Why do they need him? Will Professor Layton be able to find him? Or will the Order of the Phoenix do it?
Could be used either on it's own or as a sequel to The Puzzle of the Chamber.
Harry Potter - The Legend of Zelda
Agitha and Luna
Agitha and Luna meets each other. Can be used with The Princess and the reporter.
Basilisk vs The Cucco Revenge Squad
How much abuse will an immortal hen take from an overgrown snake before it snaps? And how will said snake deal with the fowls' revenge?
Eavesdropping Shadow
Midna ends up in a Death Eater meeting. Luckily they don't notice her and she hides in the shadow of a random person there, carefully listening in on the meeting. When they leave, Midna discovers that the man whose shadow she hid in is a spy and a teacher by the name of Severus Snape and she decides to help in her own little way.
How/why did Midna end up at the Death Eater meeting?
Does she reveal her presence?
Is she in her normal or her imp form? Can she switch between them? What kinds of magic can she use?
Does it take place before, during or after the Twilight Princess game, if during: Where is Link?
With some adjustments it could be used with Friendly Wolf.
Friendly Wolf
Instead of being saved by Firenze in the Forbidden Forest from the wraith of Voldemort, Harry is saved by a big wolf. The wolf then follows him back to the school and more or less becomes Hogwarts unofficial guardian; Breaking fights during daytime and roaming the halls during the nights and following wayward students back to their destination/dorm. What nobody knows is that the wolf really is an elf by the name of Link...
Why is Link there? Is there a reason or merely a coincidence?
Can he shift between his forms on his own or is he stuck as a wolf?
Does it take place before, during or after the Twilight Princess game, if during: Where is Midna?
With some adjustments it could be used with Eavesdropping Shadow.
Harry of Hyrule
Long story short: Link raises Harry. Set after Majora's Mask.
Long story "start-details": After leaving Termina Link ends up in a weird town filled with pumpkins and decorations that he thinks looks like keeses, poes and stalfos. Further up the street he sees a hooded man walk as if into an invisible house and disappear, but by using the Lens of Truth he sees that there is a house there. Somehow he realizes that the stranger (Voldemort) is killing the inhabitants (the Potters) and gallops over to stop him. It's up to you if Link is in time to save Harry with his Mirror Shield or just in time to see the killing curse bounce back to Voldy. Not wanting to risk encountering possible back-up to the murderer or be accused of being one (or whatever excuse you prefer) Link wraps Harry up in his baby-blanket, grabs the family-pictogram from a shelf in the hallway (maybe a plushie as well?) and the man's glasses just in case they're useful and then rides away on Epona before anybody arrives (or catches up?). Back in Hyrule it's up to you if Link raises Harry in the Kokiri Forest or on the Lon Lon Ranch or somewhere else.
I did consider merging this one with Malon the Witch and have her graduate three years before Harry started.
If you want you could use Order to Hogwarts at the end.
I have quite a few ideas for this one if you're interested. Mainly some pre-Hogwarts and Harry's second year.
Harry the Sage
Harry is (unknowingly) the descendant of one of the seven sages, so naturally he is kidnapped by Agahnim/Yuga/etc. who is planning to revive/free Ganon.
I imagine this as a crossover with A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds, but if you prefer you can go with another Zelda-game. You can also decide which sage he's a descendant to, but I for some reason imagine it's Nabooru. You can use another and/or add one or two more characters from the Harry Potter franchise if you prefer (have Neville as the Sage of the Forest perhaps?) just don't swap out all of them, okay?
Harry can be taken anytime from before he starts Hogwarts to the end of his sixth year, but it must be early enough that he's rescued and able to return to the UK at least in time for the Battle of Hogwarts. Personally I would probably go with the summer before his third year (either from Leaky Cauldron or just before he calls for the knight bus) or have him kidnapped from under Voldemort's non-existent nose in the graveyard in his fourth.
Can be used together with The Horcrux with a Scar and/or One Gone, One Convicted (see the regular Harry Potter category)
Link and the Triwizard Tournament
Link's in the Triwizard Tournament, the things I would like to see is:
First Task: Link vs Volvagia. (I imagine it as based on the OoT-manga before Ganondorf corrupted her, that's all I'm saying for now.) Or some other dragon like Helmasaur, Volga, Molgera, Argorok, etc., just as long as it's from a Zelda-game.
Second Task: Zora Tunic or the Zora Mask (or some other suitable, Zelda-related underwater-item).
Third Task: The Maze working a bit like the Lost Woods, at least for Link: Get lost and you get out. How many times will Link have to re-enter the maze?
Malon the Witch
What did Malon do during the years Link was trapped in the Chamber of Sages? Well she went to Hogwarts!
Could be used with Harry of Hyrule.
Man Overboard and Tournaments
After Link has awoken the Windfish he is stuck on his little makeshift raft in the middle of the sea. Eventually he's saved by the Durmstrang students who're on their way to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament and they allow him to come with them. Have a couple of ideas for this one.
Bonus if Link has a certain seagull pet named Marin (if it is her or not is up to you).
Option to the LOZ-FMA crossover Man Overboard and Alchemists and the LOZ-PL crossover Man Overboard and Puzzles.
Mr. Hero and Mr. Merchant goes to Hogwarts
Long story short: Link and Ravio goes to Hogwarts and they're in different houses.
Long story "start-details": After saving Hyrule and Lorule Link gets a letter from Hogwarts. Irene who helped him translate the letter (having gone there herself maybe?) helps writing the acceptance letter as well and writes Hero as his surname (bonus if Link learns it first at the sorting). Once at Hogwarts he discovers Ravio is there too, under the name Merchant. Ravio has received permission to have a modified, lither mask that goes with his school-robes but still covers everything.
Link goes to Gryffindor ('cause Triforce of Courage and so on) and Ravio goes to Slytherin (even if Ravio fits very well in G I want him in a different one from Link and having him in S could be very exciting, besides the way he helped saving the world was rather cunning so he still fits).
Ravio must gain the other Slytherins respect, and keep it even if they discover his ears etc (which shouldn't happen to early on).
Link can be mute but then it must have happened at least after he gained entrance to the Thieves Hideout (maybe the black stuff Blind spewed out during the Boss Battle caused it?)
I imagine their starting-age as 14. They would go some years "beside" each other, like 1, 2&3, 4&5, 6, 7 and the last two years Horcrux-hunting etc. But that's just me.
I have tons of ideas for this one (probably enough for the whole thing), but I just don't have the time to write it.
I really hope someone here feels tempted to write this one.
Order to Hogwarts
At the battle of Hogwarts, Link rushes to the top of the Astronomy Tower and plays the Oath of Order, summoning the four giants from Termina.
Was it merely an act of desperation from Link side or had he made a plan with the giants earlier?
Are the other giants there affected by the song?
Did the four giants bring any extra aid from Termina? If they did, how will people react to the dekus, gorons, zoras and the undead? How will Voldemort co react to King Igos du Ikana with troops who doesn't listen to him? What about the Garos? Are they there? Or any people from Clock Town such as Kafei or the soldiers?
Will probably work best together with another story, like Harry of Hyrule.
Pipit at Hogwarts
Due to an accident, Pipit falls from the sky and ends up at Hogwarts. What will he do there? What kind of accident was it? Did he receive any injuries? Did he travel in time or not? Is his Loftwing there? Did it survive? Can he go home? Will somebody come for him?
Can be used with other characters from Skyloft/Lumpy Pumpkin.
Prince Komali at Hogwarts
Prince Komali of the Rito tribe is out on a flight when he is suddenly caught in a storm (magical or just a sudden mundane he underestimated is up to you) and he is transported all the way to Hogwarts. Hurt from the forced crash (you decide how badly) and completely lost he have no choice but to remain at Hogwarts for the time being.
Which year is it when Komali ends up at Hogwarts?
Was he flying around for a specific reason or was it just a "sunday stroll"? Did he have company?
How does the owls react to him? Do they se him as a royaly/leader or do they think he's lazy because he doesn't deliver any letters? Do they even care?
What does Komali feel about the owls?
Will he be mistaken for some kind of harpy or veela?
Will he go to classes? Can he use a wand? Will he be sorted? If so, which house does he end up in?
Sheik at Hogwarts
When Impa takes Zelda into hiding, she figures it's too dangerous to keep the princess with her all the time, even disguised as a boy. Therefore, she sends Sheik to Hogwarts to learn magic there and only teaches him the way of the Sheikah during the summers.
It's up to you if Sheik is male, female, hermaphrodite/intersexual or non-gender, you must however remember that the others must believe Sheik is a male.
It's up to you in which house he'll be sorted, but I would suggest Ravenclaw due to the Triforce of Wisdom.
If you want to write a flashy Final Battle, I suggest you let Sheik use the moves from Hyrule Warriors.
The Princess and the Reporter
Rita Skeeter has a strange urge to treat this odd little pigtailed girl like a royalty. Agitha thinks that's only natural.
Can be used with Agitha and Luna.
Wrong Woods
During the detention in the Forbidden Forest (in the Philosopher's Stone), they accidentally ends up in the Lost Woods. Saved by Link and/or other kokiri they will now have to try and find a way back home. Or will they stay and help Link on his quest first? Or will they return to help him after seven years have passed? If you want to you can let Link wander into England once he's done with Termina.
It up to you if it features just some of them (like Neville, Draco and Fang) or everyone.
If you want to use something else than Ocarina of Time that's okay too :)
Have a couple of vague ideas for this.
Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit - Marvel/DC
Bad spider, good spider
Where Spiderman come across one or more of the giant spiders of Middle Earth.
How did he get there? Does he have any of his special items with him or not?
Have he tagged along with the Company or the Fellowship or is he moving about there on his own?
Hulk vs. Smaug
Come on, who doesn't want to see Hulk smash a dragon?
Option to the Harry Potter - Marvel crossover Hulk and the Tournament.
The Red Wizard Dr. Strange
Where the Sorcerer Supreme - Dr. Stephen Strange - ends up in Middle Earth and join either the Company or the Fellowship on their quests.
'Tis but a scratch
Deadpool joins either the Company or the Fellowship on their missions. How will the others - friends and foes alike - react to the Merc with a mouth who seems to be unable to stay dead?
Your claws are Spears - mine are Adamantium
Wolverine vs. Smaug. Bonus if we get to see Logan interact with Beorn.
Marvel/DC - Disney and other cartoons/animations etc.
Big Green Boys
(Shrek) Where Hulk and Shrek meets.
How do they meet? I personally would probably have Bruce hide in Shrek's hut from something chasing him but it's all up to you.
When does it happen?
Gauls and Chitauri
(Asterix) Where - for whatever reason you can think of - Asterix and Obelix take part of the fight against the Chitauri.
How (and when) did they arrive to the modern time?
How will they react to all the technology?
Are there any other gauls there?
The Gauls are only afraid of the sky falling down, so how will they react to it having a big * hole which spews monsters?
What about the language barriers?
Professor Layton - Indiana Jones
Archeology is a Big Puzzle, My Boy
Despite how different they are, there certainly are some similarities between the professors Layton and Jones. Such as their uncanny ability to come across puzzles and riddles. Luke just wants to know why they have to be so much more lethal when they're with Mr. Jones (Uncle Indy?).
The Legend of Zelda - Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
Giants and Dragons
Young Link battles Smaug while wearing the Giants Mask. How will Smaug react to fighting someone who's practically matching his own size?
Lost (Mirk)Woods
What if there was a long forgotten gate/portal between the Lost Woods and Mirkwood, and someone(s) accidentally passed through it?
Is it the Company of Thorin Oakenshield who ends up in the Lost Woods? Or is it Link and/or some kokiri or korok who end up in Mirkwood?
It's up to you which Zelda-game you mix it up with.
Option to the HP-LotR/Hobbit crossover Forbidden Mirkwood Forest.
Stone Giants to Order
What if Link could calm the Stone Giants during their thunder battle by playing either Oath to Order or the Goron Lullaby?
Volga and the Rings
After having broken free of Cia's spell, Volga just want to head home to his caves with his lounge of reptiles. First however, he has another mission: to destroy the ring that is possessed by Wizzro. After all, if that blasted creature hadn't distracted his troupes, he probably wouldn't had been bewitched into submission.
As not even his fire can destroy that ring, he will travel to the only mountain he know can do it: Mt. Doom in Mordor. On his way there, he meets a small creature, a hobbit, with a rather special ring of their own.
It's up to you if it's Bilbo or Frodo and when during the adventure he encounters them. It's also up to you if he travels alone or if he brings someone with him, whether it's another one of the playable characters from Hyrule Warriors or if it's with NPC:s such as Dinolfos and Aeralfos etc.
The Legend of Zelda - Marvel/DC
These two gets to share a category because they often have crossovers between themselves anyway.
Agitha and Ant-man/Wasp
Agitha meets the Ant-man and/or the Wasp when they are small. What will happen?
Ant - Boot - Not my friends!
For whatever reason, Agitha - Princess of the Insect Kingdom - is there for the "Ant-Boot" dialogue between Loki and Fury. And in Hyrule Warriors, she gets really upset if you almost step on "Mr. Ant". So what will she do when there is someone who clearly has such blatant disrespect for her subjects?
Ant-man and the Picori
Where Scott meet the picori and/or minish Link and/or Vaati.
It's up to you if it's Scott who ends up in Hyrule or (if you use him) Link who ends up in the MCU. Or do the picori perhaps exist in the MCU too?
Can be used with Hulk and his New Tiny Friend.
Are you a Goron?
Ben "Thing" Grimm - the stone-man of the Fantastic Four - is mistaken for being a Goron by either Link (who can either be in his normal shape or in Goron-form) or by a goron, e.g. Darunia or Daruk.
In which uiniverse are they?
If it's Link and/or a goron who's in the Marvel Universe, how will they react to the technology there and the lack of other gorons?
If it's Ben who's in Hyrule, how will he react to an entire tribe of stone-people? Would he be able to eat their rock-food?
Are you a Great Fairy?
Link meets Poison Ivy, and he is fairly sure she must be a Great Fairy, albeit a small one. What does Pamela think of the little kid dressed in forest green?
Can be used with Poison Ivy and the Deku Scrub.
Avenging Champions
Where instead of getting killed and having their spirits imprisoned, the four Champions - Urbosa, Mipha, Daruk and Revali - was transported to the Marvel Universe. How will they find their way back home?
When do they arrive? Do they even arrive at the same time?
Where do they arrive? Do they arrive at the same place?
Who are the first to come in contact with them? How will they react to each other?
Do they still have their powers?
What about the language?
Personally, I would have them appearing at different places, like Urbosa arriving in Afghanistan during Tony's escape for example, but it's all up to you what you prefer.
Battle of Giants
Young Link is for whatever reason in New York during the chitauri-attack. Still in possession of the Masks from Termina, he decides to use the Giant's Mask to deal with the leviathans.
Will his tactic work?
How will the rest of the Avengers react to the kid growing into a giant?
How did he end up there? Personally, I would have him first stumble across Tony Stark and Thor during their fight in the forest and get picked up by S.H.I.E.L.D. there (possibly after being hurt in the side-lines), and then sneaking aboard the Quintjet to NY with the help of the Stone Mask. But if you want to do it some other way that's fine too. Though if you have him show up even earlier, during the Germany business, it's a bonus if Link and Loki play Dead Man's Volley.
What about possible language barriers? Is Hylian and English the same language or different? If they're different, would Thor and Loki still be able to communicate in it or would the Hylian Realms be too "separate" for them to be able to? Would Link be able to use the Mask of Truth to understand English, seeing how it worked with dogs?
What about his magic levels? Are they full or partly depleted? If he drank Chateau Romani just before his battle with Majora, is he still buzzing on it? If so, how will he react when the third day ends? Will he crash? Is it perhaps already about to run out so it happens in the middle of the battle?
Can you destroy anothers dream?
Hyrule Warrior/Link's Awakening based. Thanos can obviously destroy people with a snap, but would he be able to destroy Marin? Technincally, she doesn't exist as she is "just" a figment of the Windfish's imagination. So what I want to see is Thanos trying to kill/destroy Marin (possibly as a warning/example) but failing with it.
Champions in Gotham
Where the Champions of Hyrule end up in Gotham (or elsewhere in the DC Universe).
Different ice
When Steve crashes the plane, the Tesseract (which can either be still on the plane or just close enough) transports him to Hyrule (or one of it's "neighbours").
Is it Link who find's him? Or is it someone/something else?
Where exactly did he end up? Was it in the Frozen Zora's Domain? An Ice Palace? In a cavern on the Dark Mountain in Lorule? Snow Peak? Ice Ring Isle? Some other icy place?
How will Steve react to the different races, creatures and monsters?
How will Steve get home? Will Link or some other character come with him?
For those of you who have seen Game Theory on youtube (if you haven't, I can recommend their Zelda-videos) might be familiar with the episode where they make calculations on the Hookshot and comes to the conclusion it should kill or seriously harm Link to use it. And if we just assume their estimations of it's weight and so on is correct, we should also be able to assume Hylians are pretty damn tough that can handle it (which, considering how high falls etc Link can survive, isn't unreasonable), so how would Steve compare to them?
And while we're at it, OoT-Link as an adult is about 150cm/5" tall (see Game Theory's video about MM for that), and seems to be fairly average. So Steve would seem like a giant next to pretty much any Hylian. What kind of issues would that cause him? It can be anything from hitting his head on door-frames to people distrusting him for being something unknown.
Alternative to the Marvel regular with the same name.
Dominion the Liberty
Loki's attack with the Chitauri was in Manhattan. You know what else can be found in Manhattan? The Statue of Liberty. Have either TP-Link or HW-Zelda use the Dominion Rod on the Statue. Only because I really want to see the Statue of Liberty smack down on those big monsters.
Fi and Jarvis/Vision
Fi meets Jarvis and/or Vision.
Ganondorf's the Mastermind
Where it wasn't Thanos who got hold of Loki and got things rolling, but Ganondorf, who is aiming to get a hold of the Infinity Stones and the Triforce. How would this change the Avengers franchise? Would he send along minions such as Ghirahim, Vaati and/or Shadow Link (or Shadow Loki?), etc.? And which monsters, mini-bosses and Giant Bosses would he send through the portal?
Green Smashers
Or: Link befriending Hulk with pot-smashing. Context is up to you.
Hulk and his New Tiny Friend
Gentle!Hulk is actually a canon thing. He's very good with animals and supossedly have little glass figurines. So, if he came across a picori, he most likely would be able to pick up and handle them without causing them any harm. So what if Hulk could see them?
It's up to you if it's minish Link (with or without Ezlo), a normal picori or maybe even Vaati.
Does it take place in Hyrule or MCU?
Can Bruce see them?
Can be used with Ant-man and the Picori.
Hulk and the Cucco Revenge Squad
For some reason Bruce/Hulk upsets the cuccos (despite Hulk actually being gentle with animals in canon). Both parties are pretty much immortal, how will it end?
It's Batman, Not Acheman
For those of you who have played Zelda 2, you probably knows about the bat-like monsters who swoops down and then turns into a humaniod demon. What if Link met Batman and though he might be one of them? Could possibly work better with a Link from one of the other games there Achemen doesn't appear since according to the official art Achemen doesn't look very human apart from having two arms and legs.
Knights of the Sky
Where the Knights of Skyloft comes to the Avengers' aid against Ultron at the flying city. I'll leave the reason the Knights are there to you.
Ooccoo in the Helicarrier
Do you remember that lovely/helpful/creepy chicken-thing in Twilight Princess, Ooccoo? Have her appear on S.H.I.E.L.D's helicarrier.
How did she get there? And when?
How will people react to her?
How will she react to the people there?
Poison Ivy and the Deku Scrub
Poison Ivy meets a Deku Scrub, what's her opinion/thoughts/reactions to them?
Is it Deku Link she meets? Someone from the Deku Palace? The Deku Butler's son? A Business Scrub perhaps?
Can be used with Are you a Great Fairy?
Ravio and the Avengers
When Ravio at the end of A Link Between Worlds tries to go back to Lorule, something goes wrong and he ends up on Earth instead. With no items left and drained of what magic he had left, he is trapped and has to find a new way back home - and that's when he hears about the Tesseract, which might just be the solution he needs.
So, things to think of:
Does Ravio know what happened to spit him out on Earth instead of Lorule? Did he run out of magic? Or is it perhaps connected to when Bifrost was destroyed or something? Does he perhaps think Lorule was destroyed and that that's the reason he didn't get through?
Where and when on earth is he spit out? During Steve's original time? Is he spit out in Germany during the Loki's attack? In Afghanistan with Tony? Out in nowhere where Bruce/Hulk is? In a bustling New York? On the Helicarrier? In a Hydra base? Somewhere else?
What of possible language barriers?
Can Sheerow still go between worlds or can he only do that when it's between Lorule and Hyrule? If he can, will Ravio attempt to send a letter to Hilda and/or Link? And will said letter have any effect or will they still fight (if it even get's to them in time)? Will one of them die and will we know about it? Will Ravio find out what happens at some point? Will he even know if Link defeats Yuga or not?
Did he go through one of the cracks (and if so, will that crack remain or does it disappear?) or did he "world jump" by any other means? Was he aided by a maiamai?
How does he hear about the Tesseract?
Will he try to steal it and if so, how will he defend that decision? Remember, he goes to Hyrule to stop Hilda and Yuga from stealing the Triforce to begin with, so depending on what information he heard he might consider stealing it either an act that will help earth or an act that is exactly the same as what Yuga does.
How will the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Loki react to him?
Ravio does not like Gotham
Ravio refer to himself as a "coward of heart" at one point. So naturally, with Gotham being filled with all sorts of dangers there is, Ravio does not like that city.
How did Ravio end up in Gotham? Does he encounter any of the "big" villains from that place? Does he mistake the Joker for Yuga or think they are related? Does he think Batman is one of the bad guys or does he realize he's a hero? What is Batman's thoughts about the bunny-hooded boy? What about the villains?
Sleep and Bikes
Steve Rodgers was frozen for almost 70 years before he was found and woke up. BotW-Link was sleeping in that shrine for a 100 years. Both rides motorcycles. And both have blonde hair, blue eyes and uses shields. What other things may they have in common? Will they go into battle together? Or against each other? Or will they only have a chat? How do they meet?
Bonus if Link teaches the Captain how to sled on the shield.
Spiders and Curses
Link meets Spiderman and think he's a victim of some kind of Skulltula Curse like that family in Kakariko Village/Southern Swamp/Great Bay. Peter Parker does not understand why this kid in green keeps offering him golden skull-tokens.
Camera Club from the category [Multiple crossovers] could be a part of this I suppose.
The Avengers and the Wolf/Imp
Wolf Link and/or Midna ends up on Earth and comes across one or several of the Avengers.
Is it just one or both of them that arrived there?
Can they swap between their alternative shapes and their true ones?
When do they appear?
Who do they meet?
What about language barriers?
Will other characters from Zelda show up? If so, will it be only from Twilight Princess or will it be from Hyrule Warriors or something else?
Tony and the Gerudo
As Tony escapes the cave in Afghanistan, something happens and he is transported to the Gerudo Desert instead. Stumbling upon/found by the Gerudo, he is tossed into a cell again. How will Tony get out of this new pickle?
Are there any language barriers?
What was it that triggered the "interrealmic" change?
Did the Gerudo see him crash or did Tony manage to catch a glimpse of their homes? Or did they find each other by accident?
How will the Gerudo react to the Arc Reactor?
During which LoZ-Game/timeline did he end up?
Visitor under the Sea
Aquaman receives an unusual visitor under the sea.
You decide if Link is wearing the Zora's Mask or the Zora Tunic.
Or if it is Ruto, Mipha or Sidon. Or a man-fish. Or some other LoZ water-related character/creature.
Worthy Wolf
Where Wolf Link for some reason picks up Mjolnir (let's face it, Link would most likely be worthy, being the bearer of the Triforce of Courage and all). How will Thor and everyone else react?
Can be used with any of the Zelda-Marvel crossovers where Wolf Link can be used.
Wrong Dark World
Where either Link and/or Ravio and/or Midna end up in the MCU's Dark World, or Thor and/or Loki (with or without company) end up the the Hylian Dark World/Lorule/Twilight Realm.
You're not Bucky/Byrne
Where Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier and Byrne/Staven get's mistaken for the other.
Is it Bucky who ends up in Hyrule or is it Byrne who ends up in the Marvel Universe?
Where in the timeline do they appear?
How did it happen? Is it connected to their deaths perhaps?
Do they meet each others? How will surrounding characters react to them?
Did any other characters swap worlds too?
Is it somehow connected to the single future Dr. Strange saw where they won?
The Legend of Zelda - Artemis Fowl
Burglar of Time
Link finds this big mansion that he just must explore. Artemis and Butler are not amused.
Doesn't necessarily have to feature OoT/MM-Link, can be anyone you like.
The Legend of Zelda - Fullmetal Alchemist*
*"03" is for the ones mainly based on the first anime, "MB" for the ones mainly based on the manga and Brotherhood anime. If it isn't marked with either it won't matter, even though I personally would've used the manga.
Fabulously Evil Tea Party
Envy and Ghirahim meets each other. Who is the most fabulous villain? Who is most powerful? How would they deal with each others respective "foe"? Just have fun with it.
In the Shadows (MB)
Pride meets imp!Midna and/or Shadow Link. In which universe are they? How will they react to each other? What will happen if they were to try and "share" a shadow?
Man Overboard and Alchemists
After Link has awoken the Windfish he is stuck on his little makeshift raft in the middle of the sea. Eventually he's saved by a military ship (with Edward and Major Armstrong on board) and they allow him to come with them. Have a couple of ideas for this one.
Bonus if Link is posing as Major Armstrongs distant cousin and/or mistakes Ishvalians for Sheikah.
Option to the HP-LOZ crossover Man Overboard and Tournaments and the LOZ-PL crossover Man Overboard and Puzzles.
No, I'm a Sheikah/Ishvalian
Impa and Scar meets each other and are accidentally mistaken by the nearby people to be from the same people. If it's Impa who's in Amestris or Scar who's in Hyrule is up to you.
Sword and Shield
One is a demonic sword spirit, the other one is the ultimate shield. Their abilities are quite similar to each other but yet so different, so how would an encounter between them look?
Basically, do something with Greed and Ghirahim! Do whatever you want!
The Legend of Zelda - Professor Layton
Man Overboard and Puzzles
After Link has awoken the Windfish he is stuck on his little makeshift raft in the middle of the sea. Eventually he's picked up by a ship with Professor Layton and Luke Triton onboard, and they allow him to come with them.
Bonus if you can add puzzles and or riddles to the story.
Option to the HP-LOZ crossover Man Overboard and Tournaments and the LOZ-FMA crossover Man Overboard and Alchemists.
[Multiple crossovers]
This sections are for crossovers between 3 or more stories. If you want to use the idea as a regular or a crossover between just two, feel free to go ahead with that :)
Camera Club
Legend of Zelda - Spiderman - Fullmetal Alchemist - Harry Potter - other?
Link, Peter Parker, Maes Hughes and Colin Creevey all have something in common: Photography (or as Link preferes to call it: Pictography).
Mechanical Arms
Fullmetal Alchemist - Marvel - Zelda: Spirit Tracks - The Arcana - other?
Edward Elric, Captain Buccaneer, Lan Fan, James "Bucky" Barnes, Byrne/Staven and Lucio have all had an arm replaced by a mechanical prosthetic. What if they were to meet each other?
Not the Snitch
Harry Potter - Zelda: Majora's Mask - D. Gray-Man - Spyro - other?
Harry mistakes certain companions for the snitch. Will Tatl, Timcampy and Sparks be able to get away from the young seeker? Will Link, Allen and Spyro try to stop him? Do you know any other small, yellowish companion that could be mistaken for a snitch?
Reincarnated Multiple Times
Fullmetal Alchemist - Harry Potter - M*A*S*H
Do some kind of reincarnation story with two or all three of Sergeant Major Kain Fuery (FMA), Harry Potter and Corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly (M*A*S*H). In which order etc is you choice, but I would suggest to follow each series time-line, meaning Kain is first and Harry last, but that is completely up to you. I think it would be rather fun with a Harry who could basically everything about radios - at least the older models. A Harry that is over all quite interested in technology.
If you only choose to mix FMA and HP, I suggest you go to that section and look at Reincarnations.
Snappers
Marvel - Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Fullmetal Alchemist - other?
Who has the fastest fingers? Thanos, Urbosa or Colonel Roy Mustang?
Three Look-Alikes
Fullmetal Alchemist - Harry Potter - M*A*S*H
Kain Fuery (FMA), Harry Potter and Corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly (M*A*S*H) look a bit like each other with their small stature, dark hair and big glasses. What if they met each other or others mistook them for another?
Twin Terrors
Any fictions with twins, e.g: Harry Potter - How to Train Your Dragon - Lord of the Rings/the Hobbit - other?
In many fictional twins tend to be pranksters/jokers/over all wild, so what mayhem can they acquire together?
Well, that were all of my suggestions for now, but the list is constantly growing, so if you like challenges, feel free to come back and look again :)
