Just in case no one has worked it out yet the story is dead. I have lost interest in writing the story, mainly because once I read it back I realised that I didn't like it. While there were some good moments in there I wasn't happy with either the grammar or the spelling, and some of the plot points were bad as well. Any attempts I made to improve the story or rewrite it failed, and in the end I just gave up on it.

I would just like to thank everyone who wrote a review for my story. A lot of the advise given in them was very helpful, and I enjoyed reading the positive comments that people left me. If by some miracle I rediscover my enjoyment for writing then I may try to rewrite the story again, but it may be safer to just assume that it won't happen.

I love reading Ranma fanfiction. Unfortunately I have already read most stories in existence, and updates of new stories are rare, so I am in a constant search for older stories that I have not come across yet. One method I have is to go to profile pages of popular authors and look at the stories in their favourites section. The problem with this is they are often filled to the brim with stories that might not be that good, and it is often hard to separate these stories from the real gems that are really worth a read. I myself have loads of stories that I have in my favourites section only because I want to keep an eye on them, not because they are spectacular. I don't even like some of them anymore, but just can't be bothered to delete them.

Below I have put together a list of some of my favourite fanfiction stories. Not just any old stories either, but one's which I feel are the cream of the crop. The stories that I feel should be in the reading list of anyone who is interested in fanfiction. This way if anyone goes onto my profile looking for stories they haven't read yet then there is a shortlist that they can look at before attempting to look through my rather large favourite section to get to the really good stuff.

This is my own personal list, and I've written a little comment next to each story to say why I love it so much. I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minimum. You may agree or disagree with my selection, but these are my own opinions on what are the best fanfiction stories out there. Enjoy.

In no particular order...

Anything written by Ozzallos: Ozzallos is a brilliant writer who has written a series of superb Ranma crossover stories which never fail to impress. The list includes 'Heir to the empire', 'Tale of the Foxcat', 'Hell is a Martial artist', 'A time apart', 'Oh my Ranma half' and 'Best of times, plus many more. In fact he's so good that even some of his rejects which he calls his 'Crapspace' are amazing, and are twice as good as anything most other authors can come up with. Just a warning though, he does like Ranma-chan fics a lot.

'Dark lords of Nerima' series: A very good set of stories in the Sailor moon universe, where Ranma and Ryoga have to help save the world. Unfortnanatly the Sailor scouts think that they are Dark Generals out to take over the world, and the real Dark Generals think they are a rival organisation trying to but in on their turf. It ends up being quite compicated for all involved, but it works out in the end.

The Accidental goddess: This story isn't actually on this site, but here's the link. It's a story where Nabiki goes onto what she thinks is a gag site and somehow turns Ranma in Ranko, goddess of sex. Its not as lemony as you would think, but its quite funny and is still one of the stand out Ranma/OMG crossovers.

The Sailor Ranko series: 'Ranma is a Sailor Senshi' is not exactly a rare plot, but Sailor Ranko was one of the first to do it. It's also one of the best in the genre, combining action, angst, humour and romance into a very entertaining series of stories. The first two stories written by Fire, Sailor Ranko and Twice in a Millennium focus on Ranma becoming Sailor Sun and his relationship with Akane. Burger Becky then takes up the mantle, and rather than inventing another army of various demons like most Sailor Moon crossovers, she has the Scouts fighting Terminators, Phoenix people, Godzillas (multiple) and even an evil singing purple dinosaur. The follow up stories vary between being quite dark and angsty to light hearted and silly, but they are all good and link together well. Highly recommended.

Destiny's Child: Another story by Fire, and another SM crossover. It is also very different than others of the genre, as a Ranma born 400 years ago falls into the spring of drowned YOUNG girl, a cursed form that never ages. Fate has also decided that he will spend the majority of his life in his cursed form, requiring painfully hot water to change back into a man and Ranma getting splashed by cold water soon after. We then follow him through the ages as he stays young and female while all around him age and die, until we get to the present day and a strange woman gives him an offer he can't refuse. It is a really moving and tearful moment when we read of Ranma watching his love Akane age before his eyes and die, and even more so when we find out that 300 years later he still holds a fierce burning love for her, his only dream is to find a cure for his curse so he can age, die, and join her in the afterlife. Brilliant.

Can it get any worse/The World at War: A much lighter SM crossover, where a slightly sociopathic Ramna, raised by demons, is conned by Pluto to teach the inner Scouts magic. What follows is a rather enjoyable, if irrelevant tale involving dimensional travel, Pluto bashing, and the Bible rangers. It's also one of the best Pokémon crossovers ever, which is sad considering that its only a small part of the story.

A not so simple wish: One of my top three stories ever, even though it is only 54,000 words long and incomplete. Ranma wishes to be cured of his curse, but because it was a cursed wish he ends up in a world where Ranma left Jusenkyo without receiving a curse. Unfortunately the Ranma who made a wish is stuck as a girl called Ranko Xiang, and the only way to turn back into her normal self is to make this version of Ranma fall in love with her. True love only, using magic and drugs are cheating. This story contains lots of humour, but what is really good about it is watching Ranko struggling with her self identity, her conscience and being near a mother who sees her only as a suitor for her son. We also see how not having a curse affects the local Ranma and how he differs from Ranko. A very thoughtful story, with lots to think about.

Ranma's Morning Confession: The basic plot is pretty simple. Ranma gets drugged by the amazons, tries to find a cure, falls in love with Akane and lives happily ever after. However there is a lot more to this story than that, and it is one of the funnier stories out there. A must read.

Human Sayajin: Frankly this story is pretty depressing, but it is still a good read when your in the mood for that sort of thing. This is also the only Dragonball Z/Ranma crossover which doesn't either have a huge power gap between the two series, or turn Ranma into a Sayajin. The story revolves around the Cell saga, and Ranma, trapped as a girl, desperate for revenge against him, yet frustrated at how she can't realistically even hurt him let along kill him. Sadly the story died before we got to the actual revenge, but it is still a really good read.

Fugue: A very short, but clever story. I won't spoil it by going into details, but I highly recommend it.

Aftermath-A story of Blended Clichés: Most stories involving Ranma involve him getting more skills and more power to defeat a foe much stronger than him in an epic fight. This story turns that idea on its head, giving Ranma almost unlimited power but almost no control of it. When Ranma has to struggle in her fights not because she can't defeat her foes, but because she's likely to destroy the world with them. Strangely for a story that started out as a whole bunch of clichés put together its rather original. Quite a moving story.

Golden Opportunity: This is THE Gold digger/Ranma crossover (unless you count 'New Tomboy', which while decent isn't spectacular). Ranma lives with the Diggers family, learns magic, martial arts and about life in general. CRose writes a brilliant story with action, romance and a bit of humour as well. Quite a long read, but it is definitely worth it.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind: A Ranma story where Ranma hardly ever appears. In fact he's disappeared of the face of the earth, and only Nabiki remembers he ever existed. She begins a quest to find him, and tries find out how on earth he did it. One of the best stories about Nabiki out there.

Might and magic- Tales of Ranma Saotome, boy wizard: One of the few good Ranma/Harry Potter crossovers. Ranma isn't over powered, but still has an advantage of most of the wizard population. It is also the only example I can find where Ranma joins Hogwarts without needing an age reducing mushroom or becoming a teacher. The author planned for at least the first 5 books, and it shows here. Unfortunately he only wrote this one and a Summer interlude, but it is still very, very good.

What's in a name?: The other good Ranma/HP crossover. A character study of female Ranma and Harry in the future, where they have both lost the people they love and are trying to come to terms with it. Very little actually happens in it, but the interaction between the two main characters is brilliant.

Finishing what you start: Another one of my top three all time favs, I can read this SM/Ranma crossover constantly and never get bored by it. It involves a demon Ranma coping with being a minority in a highly racist species, while trying to help take over the world and fall in love with Setsuna Meio. Until he finds out that all his family and friends have been killed in a genocide by his own kind, and he's next.

Big human on Campus: I love this story. Its very funny, has great fight scenes and great characters from other universes. In my opinion this is much better than the cannon 'Rosaria Vampire', which to be fair that isn't difficult. While the manga is OK, the anime is truely horrendous.

Ranma's Eternal Night: The best Ranma/Hellsing crossover. Ranma becomes a vampire and has to deal with a world of vicious monsters, as well as his new bloody nature. This is my faviroute of Lawra's collection of stories, all of which are pretty good.

Shinobi one half: One of the two good Ranma/Naruto crossovers. Ranma, Ryoga and Mouse are sent to Naruto's world and have to become ninja to survive. This is well written, involving plenty of action. It's also refreshing to read a Ranma/Naruto cross which shows just how weak most ninja are compared to the Nerima Wrecking Crew. None of them can even take a boulder to the face, how weak is that?

Evolution One half: THE best Xmen Evo/Ranma crossover. It's got good action, its funny, it has good romance and a new love triangle for Ranma. He's also fairly balanced as far as strength goes, while he may be able to beat most of the mutants in a fight he's not vastly overpowered. I also like Mystique as his mum.

Time and Again: This is probably the best time travel Naruto fic, where Naruto goes back in time to save the world. However things start to go wrong, and Naruto has no idea why.

Time Braid: The third of my top three ever fics, and its a Naruto fic. But its not, because its actually a Sakura fic. And she is in a groundhog day like situation, except she is reliving the Chunnin exams over and over again with no way to escape it, unless she gets stronger. This is really well written, and seems to take into consideration that there are still a lot of mysteries in the Naruto-verse that we have yet to find out. We also don't have to suffer through a Sharingan battle with Sasuke, which is a plus.

Senju Naruto: Naruto grows up as Tsunade's son, and with Jiraya as his godfather. Sadly the story stops once he gets to Konoha, but watching him grow up with an uncontrollable mokuton and a over affectionate ivy plant is great. There are also some great pictures on the authors profile site.

Its for a good cause, I swear!: Another time travel Naruto story, but this one is a lot more light hearted. It also involves Sakura, Kakashi and Sasuke, and none of them are (completely) insane. Mind you, Kakashi does kill the Third Hokage.

Harry Potter and the Nightmares of futures past: This is only one of two pure Harry Potter fics that I actually like (the other one is 'Oh God, Not Again!'). Here we see Harry go back in time to save the world, only this Harry has mental scars from the war and from losing all that he loved. He also has to cope with part of him being in love with Ginny, while the other part is screaming that she's only 10 years old and he's 30 odd. Quite an angsty story, but very well written.

Harry Mewter: It's Harry Potter, but he's an animangus. And he's a Mew. And its starting to affect how he thinks. A Pokemon/HP crossover that is quite clever, and quite funny as well.
