Things that fanfiction writers do they should stop doing.

1) Over describing character's outfits. No one cares if this characters shoes are white with red laces and are worn over white socks with hearts on them.

Especially if it doesn't matter when it comes to the story.

I don't need a play-by-play of everyones fashion choices. I certainly don't need thirty sentences at the start of every fic describing every single character.

Stop it.

2) Starting summaries with "What happens when...?"

I don't bloody know, its your story. You tell me. Come up with a better hook, and stop sounding like you have no clue whats going on.

3) Ending summaries with "Lets find out!"

Or, and bear with me on this one, you can tell me. Unless you have no clue whats going on in your own story.

4) "I suck at summaries."

Get better at them. When scrolling down through the upload page, you admitting that you have no clue what you are doing is not something that makes me interested in your story. Summaries arent hard. Who is where? Who is doing what? What makes this story different from canon? Answer those three questions and you should be alright.

5) Putting Author Notes in the story text.

If you have to Author Note something in the story text itself in order to get an idea across, you are doing it wrong. This means dont say things like "(AN: Imagine how it looked in the show, but backwards)" cause if you do that, it absoultely ruins everything.

6) Having a Song List.

No one is going to stop and look up "To Zanarkand" if you ask us to. We arent here to listen to music, we are here to read. Sometimes a song is used as a central keynote to a scene - fair enough. But dont shove another Author Note in our faces - its ugly.

7) Stop naming your OCs horrible names.

Seriously, your RWBY OC called 'Mike Davids' is terrible. Firstly; RWBY Naming Rules. Look it up. Theres a Wiki Page. For every Anime series, stop giving your OCs American names. Theres no reason for a character to be an American Immigrant, so stop it. And just stop it with the generic names in general - Joe Civilian is a stupid name.

8) For Crossovers, dont make one series rules supersede the others.

Okay, so perhaps youve got a good Sci-Fi series, so you cross it over with a good Fantasy series. Dont spend half a chapter explaining how the Fantasy series magic is actually Nanomachines that the Sci-Fi people have met before. Just let it be magic. Let Magic exist. When the Scientist looks into the magic, just have them say "I dunno. Theres just things we cant understand at this point." and move on. Stopping to peel back the veil on fantastical will only piss off people who like the fantasy, and slow down your story with an explanation that doesnt matter.

9) Not spell checking their summary.

If you cant write three words in a sequence without butchering the spelling of a simple word...
