Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter. First of all, I am an "older" HP fan/fanfic writer. I was introduced to the books by my youngest daughter - who became as much of a bookworm as her mother! I initially wrote (rather prolifically!) under a pseudonym. However, in the wake of DH and that bloody awful Epilogue, I became thoroughly disgusted by J.K.'s hashing of her own work in such deplorable fashion and left HP and the HP fanficverse behind me. I also laid my pseudonym to rest as well. In the meantime, I raised my children, got remarried, became a proud grandmother and had to medically retire from the workforce. My husband became a part-time minister and I decided to go back to college to finish my degree - a B.A. in Religion. However, being retired for medical reasons, I found myself itching to return to writing again. I went back and read my previous work and was appalled by it. Despite having a wonderful following I simply couldn't return under that aegis -- too much had occurred in my life and my writing had changed right along with it. A complete clean break was called for. I decided to go ahead and write under my real name this time. I have found that I am having a hard time getting going with it; two stories are up (a one-shot featuring Dumbledore and a new WIP centering on Crookshanks), having taken down two previous WIPs whose muses have fled to parts unknown, but I am still working on them and have at least a dozen others "in the hopper", so to speak. I also became a huge fan of the sci-fi/fantasy TV series, "Fringe". Other 'verses include the ORIGINAL Star Trek universe (excluding the "prequel" ST series, "Enterprise" and ignoring this spate of "AU" Star Trek movies), Dean Koontz's "Odd Thomas" and "Frankenstein" series, "4400", "Reign" and anything by Tad Williams. I would once have included Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series, but he butchered that one even worse than Rowling did with her series! I'm STILL a huge fan of "The Stand" uncut edition book and the long version of the mini-series, however. Rants and Reviews: 1. I only will review pieces that have thoroughly "grabbed" me. I also only "favorite" and/or "follow" stories and authors who also truly grip my attention with well-written works that I would want to read again. Truthfully, I have read far more than I have ever reviewed/favorited/followed. I tend to not read very many WIPs. 2. Constructive criticism is -always- welcome. I also give said same when I feel particularly drawn to a piece, but find errors that mar my enjoyment. That said, I am always honest and sincere in my c.c.'s and even though my giving such is extremely rare, "flaming" me for rendering my opinion will not garner you any good will on my part and will certainly lead to my distinct displeasure as well. 3. (Which is really Part II of #2, above) If you submit a story for public view on this or any other fanfic website, you SHOULD expect to receive some negative feedback, at some point. That is simply a fact of life that all authors, professional or non-, need to realize and accept. Frankly, if you can't handle a respectful and thoughtfully given negative review or constructuve feedback, you have NO business presenting your work for publication to the public. Not everyone is gonna like your work and/or how you've written it! Don't be a prima dona and expect it to be all rainbows and unicorns! 4. Finally, if you give a review, then do so with your own username. Hiding behind an "anonymous" or "guest" status is simply cowardly and, frankly, insulting. I tend to delete those without comment. I truly DO try to answer my (signed!) reviews as promptly as I can. I don't always have ready access to the Internet and I do have other obligations that have priority in my life. Please understand this and try to be patient. I wish to extend my thanks to my readers - you are what make those struggles with my muses worthwhile! P.S. I am -desperately- in need of a reliable and patient Beta. Send me a private message if you're interested! ~HMR )Beta Desperately Needed!( -Kindly Please PM- READ & REVIEW PLEASE? THANK YOU! )Beta Desperately Needed!( In homage to one of MY favorite authors in FFNet, DZ2 (/u/1931089/DZ2), I present this "borrowed" statement: I am one of the many people that have IAOWHPD or the I Am Obsessed With Harry Potter Disorder. Some of the symptoms may include, but are not limited to: 1.) Blocking out the world when reading/watching Harry Potter 2.) Wishing Hogwarts was real 3.)Thinking that at least one character from Harry Potter is hot (Severus Snape!) 4.) Comparing everything to Harry Potter or quotes by the characters therein And...last, but not least: 5.) Making your own fantasy life about Harry Potter. If you think you have this disease copy this onto your profile. We don't want to be cured. Support this disease in its uprise to overpower the brains of people and make their lives so much better..." Thank you, DZ2!! * I N . M E M O R I U M * RIP SIR RICHARD HARRIS (The ORIGINAL & (imho) Dumbledore!!!!! RIP ALAN RICKMAN - Thank you for so many wonderful film and stage productions. RIP STAN LEE (1922 - 2018) The REAL Marvel hero to ALL generations EXCELSIOR! (Copy and paste if you are a "True Believer") NOTES: As of 06/16/2020, I deleted "Volda the Hutt". As with two previous fics, "Waste Not, Want Not" & "Muggarding Wizaning Practices" , the muse took a long vacation, fell in love with Bora-Bora and it ain't comin'back no more. So, "Finite Scriptorum" on that fic. GOOD NEWS: I'm writing for "Katspaw" again. That mangy mongrel of a muse finally dragged it's behind back where it belongs. I had made a couple of "oopsies" in the narrative that require correcting before I begin uploading the new chapters, however. Please bear with this old lady as she gathers her ever-scattering brains! |
