Anyone telling me what to do with my stories from here on out through PM's, y'all will be ignored.
I don't take requests.
I won't be commanded to do anything I don't wanna.
Bye.
I keep getting PM's asking for old fics and when I'm updating. Let me clear the air for the final time: if you can't find fics you know I wrote on here, they're on my Archive or Our Own site (KrazyKeke) or permanently deleted, or like the HP/YGO fic I wrote, it's sitting in Google Docs.
The reason for my prolonged absence and migration to ao3 to Tumblr is due to the lack of reviews.
My motto has always been to write regardless of feedback but after years of sporadic reviews, and no, 'Update!' doesn't count, my muse and interest declined. If the fandom is dead, that's fine. However, respect that fanfic writing is not a paying job and I already work two of those. After spending hours writing, editing and uploading a fanfic, it is personally discouraging to get a maybe one or two word review and a demand for more updates.
I understand if y'all are shy and struggle to say anything but please try and understand where I am coming from.
Nonetheless, I'm going to be working on a new DBZ/HP fic ft. Harry Potter and his own little yaoi harem or Goku/Vegeta are his mates; while also working on Reborn for You.
Any and all other demands and passive aggressive comments, or trolls, will be ignored and blocked. Anyone asking about other fics that are on hold or discontinued will be ignored from now on. No you cannot have my ideas and fics. If I find any fics with my work plagiarized, you'll be shamed and reported.
It's 2018. I ain't with the nonsense anymore.
My url has changed from KrazyKeke to Uta's Waifu.
How to review fanfic: a helpful guide! --endoplasmicpanda (Tumblr)
(This is in no way sarcastic and is legit what you as a reader can do to stir your favorite author’s motivation and inspire them for those updates you’re craving.)
(This isn’t meant to be a stencil of “what you should always do when reviewing”, only suggestions.)
•DO:
-Mention something you like. Whether it’s a fic’s particular brand of humor, its plot, or its characters, just pick one general thing you like.
-Pick a favorite line. “Man, I really loved it when [Character A] said ’-dialogue example-’! It had me in stitches!”
-Ask questions. “By the way, are you planning on doing this filler arc?” “Are we going to see Character A doing this?”
-Make suggestions. “I’d love to see this character and this character meet!” “I think it’d be really cool if you could include this.”
-If you have criticism, it can help to use the “sandwich method”. This means sandwiching a negative in between two positives. “I loved your use of foreshadowing to hint at what Naruto was doing, but I think the battle was too sudden and brief and it left me wanting more. The scenes afterward worked very well together and transitioned smoothly, though.”
-Learn to let things lie when need be. A single grammatical error in one chapter in a 15 chapter fic doesn’t really need pointing out unless it’s very glaring and obvious. (Ex: you don’t have to point out a single mixup of “your” and “you’re”, though if this happens very often it can take readers out of the story. But, if it’s only once, it’s more likely that it just slipped the author’s attention and it’s not an error they’re prone to making- meaning you leaving feedback just to point it out isn’t very helpful.) Most fanfiction is done for fun- you’re not a book editor who needs to correct every single error.
-Review multiple chapters. You don’t have to review every single chapter of a fic, but it can help motivate authors because it sends the message that there are people who are invested in the story and willing to leave actual feedback.
-Avoid words like “pathetic”, “shitty”, “stupid”, etc. Basically, just don’t sound like you’re insulting the author and you should be good.
•DON’T:
-Include ONLY negative feedback in your review. “You keep making this grammatical error. Bye now.” “I hate it when authors do this.” “You’re doing [this thing] and it really ticks me off. That’s all I had to say.”
-Only review to ask for an update. “When’s the next update?” “Are you going to update?” This can be pretty discouraging and it doesn’t actually motivate most authors to update because it makes us feel like update machines. Show you’ve taken an interest in the story itself instead of this general response that can come off as insensitive towards the author actually having a life outside fanfiction and things to do.
-Be vague. “I didn’t like this chapter.” Okay, why not? “This was cringey.” In what way? “It feels rushed.” Be more specific. “It’s not very funny.” Tell the author why.
-Assume the author is character bashing or hates a character just because they present that character or their actions in a negative light. I’ve often written even my favorite characters in a negative way, but that doesn’t mean I hate them or I’m bashing them. Characters aren’t literal precious cinnamon rolls; they’re actual people (like real people) who can do bad things and good things. Sometimes they do good things in fanfic, sometimes they do bad. The beauty of fanfiction is being able to explore that possibility.
-Complain preemptively. If something hasn’t been explained yet in chapter one or two, hold your confusion for a little while. It’s the beginning of the story. Sometimes things take time to unfold, and nobody likes an info dump or knowing all the details of the plot right off the bat.
•Things that are all right to do, though they may not necessarily be as helpful as longer feedback:
-Comment just to say you like the story/to thank the author for writing it. It’s nice to hear!
-To say you loved the newest update.
-Commenting just to say keep up the good work and it’s appreciated!
Seriously, if you can’t make longer reviews, even just these little compliments make authors feel good!
Now, get out there and review to make an author’s day!
