Author has written 4 stories for Final Fantasy I-VI, and Final Fantasy VII. UPDATED: 03/22/2015. Added to Fav Stories: TOO DAMN MANY to even know an approximate number since the last time I updated my profile, which is like two years ago. SO MANY GOOD FICS SO MUCH OF MY LIFE IS CONSUMED BY MY LOVE OF THESE CHARACTERS I MEAN COME ON WOW WARNING: Below contains some semblance of organization, but it's kind of a ground public floor for my imagination, and it's really vomiting thoughts all over the place. Hello, SapphyreMyst here. I use this username/alias on other websites as well, so I guess I'll be instantly recognizable if you ever see this username popping up somewhere else. Honestly, I use this name... a lot. If you came to view my profile or read one of my really really weird stories/ideas, feel free to do so. However, I recommend that you just skip the stories I've written and just go on to my extensively long Favorite Stories list. Why? Because all of the stories on it are absolutely worth reading. Even the really insane ones are wonderful for relieving stress. And sometimes pure mindless inane fluff is absolutely needed. And weird cliched plots are interesting to watch how it all goes down in their version. So if you feel there is a weird discrepancy in the quality or genre of the writing in the stories I've faved, that's probably the reason why. These and others can be found on my Fave Stories List. I think I've made it pretty clear that if you've come to my profile, I really recommend that you check out the list. I do try to in general pick out stories that I find are worth reading, and while it might be easier for you to just join a community, this is always here as a reference. Well, for me, I guess. On Reviews: I've taken to actually reviewing the stories I read - and quite honestly it's been an interesting experience. I will NEVER leave flames - when I first started reviewing, I'd usually give an overview of technicality errors, story flow improvement, what I liked about it, etc, etc. However, I have left some harsher sounding criticism on some stories where I feel that the characters are being completely destroyed, or if there are really major issues that I feel are inexcusable. I won't tell you to hurry up and update (c'mon - given my own track record?), but I'll close with a 'keep going!' or something like that. Recently though it's just an gushing of what I loved about the piece, and then my standard of "Keep going!". More lazy of me, yeah, but I like to think it's also a lot more easily genuine than when I'd bring out mistakes. And that's how it is, folks. To the authors who've gone out of their way to either reply to my review in their story or track my wayward profile down and leave me a PM - seriously. Thank you. That means a lot to me. It makes me feel less like a hypocrite when I offer criticism and then look back at my own past stories and wince. On receiving reviews: It's all kinds of wonderful to get favs and follows, but reviews are somewhat more appreciated. As my friend told me, "Criticism on what you've done means the other person cares enough to try and not let you fail miserably." I guess that's part of why I'm reviewing more often. Part of it also goes to the fact that reviews are drugs, and make authors want to write more. ;) Information on my own stories: Insatiable: [Final Fantasy 4] Kain didn't expect the same lightning bolt to strike him twice upon where he stood. He was such a fool, to love another, when she too belonged to another. He'd always been insatiable that way. Oneshot. Complete The Mysterious Wintery Magical Object: [Final Fantasy 4] When a strange object appears in Baron, some of our favorite heroes go to investigate. But is there something else going on? Rosa and Rydia look kind of suspicious... Oneshot. Complete No, I was not very sane when I wrote that. Please forgive me for the brief flight of pure inane drabbling. Flaming Heart: [Final Fantasy 4] Zeromus's last words echo in their minds. An ancient evil awakens, threatening the lives of all on the Blue Planet. A prophecy emerges, and the darkness reappears in their souls. Yet this time, the heroes may not be able to stop it... Multichapter. Hiatus. I do plan to finish Flaming Heart, but I've lost pretty much all inspiration with it. I'll probably get to it some day, but for now... well, it's looking bleak, folks. I'll keep it within seven to ten chapters. Expect massive edits - Kain's not coming back to Baron as soon as he did, and look for surprise cameos and references to the Dissidia canon. The Veil Between Worlds: [Final Fantasy 7] AU. When a strange rune appears on Tifa's hand, her life is thrown into chaos. Strange visions, random voices in her head, mentions of other worlds, a soul-bond with a spiky-haired man who is both familiar and a stranger; she's not going insane, right? Multichapter. Hiatus. It's heavily influenced by all the crossover ideas bouncing around and parallel universes and just plain dark goriness. It'll cross over some with Flaming Heart, but... actually, I don't really know where I'm going with this. I'm hitting a wall. Probably a long time span before an update. Recently there's some inspiration, but I'm seeing a lot of value in keeping it shorter than I originally had in mind. Future Projects: Honestly, I kind of doubt I'll ever get around to completing these, so let these summaries and random sentences/paragraphs/snippets inspire you? Up for adoption, but please let me know if you want to use them, yeah? Currently my writing is limited to disjointed, disconnected drabbling about random characters with barely any plot. So. Frozen Reflections: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Aerith G and Tifa L. Alternate Universe. Pairings will develop. No slash. "He presses cold lips to her shut eyes, kissing away the tears that threaten to fall even as she tries to repress the urge to scream. 'Do not fear, lady,' he murmurs against her skin and she tries not to whimper. 'I would protect you with my life.'" "The laugh that comes is a rumble, like storms on the horizon. 'So,' he says, incredulous, 'the Wolf King has taken a human bride to carry his child?'" Because I've Seen It: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Cloud S. Time Travel. Implied pairings. Set post-AC and pre-DoC. Will fit within proper canon...how? You'll see. Everything was going to be fine - he was relatively happy, he had a family of sorts to look after - but he wakes from his illusion to find he's still in the nightmare. Sharing headspace with himself and being trapped in his own body definitely puts a wrench into trying to correct things for the better. The Demon Child: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Cloud S and Mr. Lockhart. Set pre-game, mostly during Tifa's week-long coma, slightly alternate reality. Time travel...kind of. The child opened his impossible, endless blue eyes and my blood froze. He looked back at me with the sort of intensity and awareness no newborn should have. Instantly I knew - I knew - that all the rumors about his origins were true. He was a demon. I should have kept him away from my daughter from the very start. Reflect My Heart: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Aerith G and Marlene W. Her story begins and ends with a man falling from the sky. Aerith thinks about the past, and in the living world, Marlene discovers just how deep of an impact the flower maiden actually has in her life. Little One: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Vincent V and Marlene W. Pre-ACC to future. Expect some slight character angst. He remembers her best as a child, even when she is no longer one. Vincent and Marlene through the ages. Echoes of You: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Cloud S, Tifa L, Zangan. Pre-Game to future. Angst, Spiritual, etc. It's pretty dark, I guess. A bit more raw than what I usually try to go for...and that's saying something. Being dead doesn't mean you don't live. The victims of Nibelheim follow the girl they adored, the foreigner who had taught her his craft, and the boy who would become a hero. I'm Still Here: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Cloud S, Tifa L. Drama, Angst, Family, Hurt/Comfort. Might meld into one of the other titles. Not exactly a fluffy CloTi. It's hard to forget. But it's even harder to try to let go. (and what do you think you'd ever say?/I won't listen anyway/you don't know me/and I'll never be what you want me to be) (lyrics from "I'm Still Here" by the Goo-Goo Dolls) Something Eternal Like Love: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Cloud S, Aerith G, Tifa L, Zack F. Alternate Universe. My take, sort of, on the LTD...even though the subject irritates me to bits. Even though there's some angsting and bloody wounds, there's actually humor. I took a kind of lighthearted approach to the first chapter. Eh - iffy on the summary. It's not what I'm actually going for... After a tragic accident, Aerith and Tifa struggle to understand the man they had both loved in the hopes of finally getting a chance to heal. The Way to Forever: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Mostly Alternate Universe. Drabble Collection? Most of the titles in this section will probably end up under this one. There are a thousand ways a man can live forever. In the end, some stories have a way of finding you wherever you are. Golden: [Dissidia] Focus - Cloud S and Yuna. Set during one of the earlier cycles. They both have most of their memories back, but it's not 12th cycle yet. His hair was...familiar. It was golden, like the hair of the blond man in her dreams. But wrong all at the same time. His skin was too pale, his eyes too vivid a blue. And his clothes! The man she longed for would NEVER be caught dead wearing an all black ensemble. Before the Fall: [Final Fantasy 4] Focus - Kain H and Rydia. No pairings, except for an implied Cecil and Rosa. Set a few hours after meeting adult!Rydia at the Dwarven Castle. "I'm sorry," she said, looking away. "It's a bit harder than I thought it'd be to forgive you." Intoxicated: [Final Fantasy 4] Focus - Rydia and Rosa. Gametime to pre-AfterYears. Will concentrate on Holy as well as Meteor. To try and tame the most ancient of magics is to tempt fate, no matter how talented you are. Meteor is not a spell to be kept in human chains. Heartbound: [Final Fantasy 7] Focus - Cloud S and Tifa L. Post-game. Nibelheim-centric. Every hero gets a chance to come home. This wasn't how they had expected it to go. Obsessing: Update 03/22/2015: Okay, since I've last updated my profile, I've fallen into APH Spain obsession and he's like my fandom bicycle or something, so multishipping is something I've learned to embrace really well. I also added to my growing list of fandoms the Marvel Universe (courtesy of Captain America), Doctor Who, Bleach, and for some reason Naruto is making its comeback in my affection for it. Also a growing fascination with Durarara! and Natsume Yuujin-Cho and I will be checking those out very soon. Character obsessions since 2013? I don't even remember where I was, so let me just say I fell in love with Hetalia Spain and then Steve Rogers (CapAme) and then Natasha Romanoff and then James Buchanan Barnes and then Darcy Lewis and then Clara Oswald and then the Eleventh Doctor and then the Twelfth Doctor and then Clint Barton and then... BRAVELY DEFAULT AND FIRE EMBLEM CAME IN LIKE A STORM. Ringabel stole my heart and so did Edea and Alternis (ouch) and Agnes and Tiz and Jackal and Kikyo and Praline and Einheria and that pirate are cuties. Chrom is such a dork. Gaius is so sweet (not an intentional pun, promise) and Lucina gives me life, and I love everything... somehow in all that I circled around to Uzumaki Naruto and then Uzumaki Kushina and Namikaze Minato before I got curious about current-gen and fell in love with Haruno Sakura and then Hatake Kakashi and then Terumi Mei and Tsunade and also Tenten and Temari and Gaara and really everyone but really HATAKE KAKASHI IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITEST LIKE WOW. My obsession is currently stuck on this man and wow I am drowning and this is so great i love it. PAIRINGS: I prefer canon pairings. Mostly. But I will read wonderfully written pairings that aren't. But sometimes slash scares me or makes me uncomfortable, so sometimes I'll just stop reading before I feel ready to read it again. I guess the same applies to other pairings as well. Just to be clear, I'm not a hater on homosexuality or other stuff - it's just not the stuff I'm more comfortable reading. Final Fantasy 4: Cecil and Rosa. Kain and Rydia. Rydia and Edge. Golbez and Rosa. Final Fantasy 6: Celes and Locke. Terra and Edgar, or Sabin. Final Fantasy 7: Cloud and Tifa. Zack and Aerith. Yuffie and Vincent. Yuffie and Reno. Vincent and Lucrecia. Cid and Shera. Tseng and Elena. Zack Cissnei Cloud. Sometimes I feel that Cloud and Shera would make an awesome crack pairing. Weird, I know. By the large I'm a CloTi, but I've been known to wander into fiction that feature Clerith, Clouffie, VinTi, ReTi, CloudxCissnei, etc. Doesn't mean I always enjoy it. Final Fantasy 8: Squall and Rinoa. Irvine and Selphie. Final Fantasy 10: Tidus and Yuna. Dissidia: Cloud and Tifa. Lightning and Kain. Vaan and Terra. Cloud and Terra. Kain and Tifa. Squall and Lightning. Tidus and Yuna. Cloud and Yuna. Naruto: Minato and Kushina. NaruHina. NaruSaku. SasuSaku. KakaSaku. KakaRin. KakaObi. Kaka/Yama. KakaKure. KakaAnko. YonKaka. KakaGai. KakaIta. KakaShizune. KakaMei. AsuKure. ShikaTema. NejiTen. HashaMito. MadaMito. SaiIno. I actually have a bunch of pairings for this fandom, it's not even funny. Crack ships I ship under special circumstances, like say, KakaNaru. In canon I can't even bring myself to consider it because usually I consider them to be total bros, like a kind of parent-son or if not that then uncle-nephew. But then there are talented people who write fic and then I temporarily put away SQUICK feels and read them and ship them. KakaObi hurts a lot. KakaObiRin is my OT3. "Hurricane" by 30 Seconds to Mars and "What Have You Done" by Within Temptation for these pairings. Destroy me. TBH HATAKE KAKASHI IS MY FANDOM BICYCLE. I love him and I want to see him happy after he becomes Hokage. Hetalia: I've always felt iffy and squirrelly about reading any kind of same sex pairings, and that bothered me because I've never considered myself a homophobe. With my recent introduction into Hetalia...I think it's more of an issue with characterization. I don't believe in making straight characters gay or homosexual characters straight. Obviously I've got no problem reading yaoi in Hetalia. PruHun, Spamano, Japan/Taiwan, RoChu, SuFin, DenNor, AusHun, AmeBel, S.Italy/Belgium, Spain/Belgium, Giripan, PruCan, USUK, PolLiet, Belarus/Lithuania, HRE/N.Italy, HongKong/Taiwan, Spain/Belarus. Germany/N.Italy. SpaNed. Doctor Who: 10/Rose. 11/Clara. Amy/Rory. 12/Clara. Bravely Default: Tiz/Agnes. Ringabel/Edea. Jackal/Praline. Holly/Barras. Braev/Mahzer. Alternis/Einheria. Alternis/Edea. Alternis/Agnes. Ringabel/Agnes. Tiz/Edea. Really, just...CRYSTAL SHIP. (truly embrace the OT4). Crossovers: Anyone notice Tifa, Rinoa, and Garnet all look pretty similar? If Cloud and Terra exists as a pairing, logically there should be Cloud and Celes. Because Celes is awesome. Enough said. Bucky/Clara. Mostly canon pairings, but as stated earlier, well written ones usually win. Can I just say that I want a FFNaruto crossover and see a Kakashi pairing? I have this thirst for Kakashi/Tifa and there is literally no fic. I'll even read Kakashi/Aerith or Kakashi/Yuffie, and I usually only want to see Aerith with Zack forever. I'm desperate, give me fic. Pet Peeves: UPDATE: 03/22/2015. Honestly debating on whether to remove this section or not. Pet Peeve 1: Character bashing (unless it's for parody), and conversely, Character Glorification. People are not gods. They are human. And even deities have their faults (let me point you in the direction of Greek/Roman Mythology). Pet Peeve 2: Ship bashing. People are going to ship whatever pairing they want regardless of canon or whatev. There's a lot of proving and disproving of the same evidence; lots of poorly-written and well-written arguments for both sides. Go ahead and defend your ship, I don't begrudge you that right. If you're ship's a NOTP for me, then I just won't read it. But - just please no bashing. Debate is fine but full on needless hate is not ok in my book. Pet Peeve 3: bad grammar. Not as much of an issue, but it kind of gets in the way of reading. I understand that English may not be the first language of a lot of people on this site, and to be honest, I don't really care as long as I'm enjoying the fic. If the fic is great reading, I'm reading it! Pet Peeve 4: People who can't get their facts straight and/or deliberately ignore things if the story's going to be canon. At least provide a warning or something! That includes messing up characterization. It's understandable if they need to be that way in your story, but - gah. I can't explain it. Pet Peeve 5: Favoring one fandom over another. This is the blanket peeve for the Crossover archives. It is my belief that in a well-written xover, you should have equal amounts of knowledge of the fandoms you are including. And so with this, making a character a $@#% saint or overpowered character is not the way to go. I was reading a fic over in the Naruto/FF7 sectionand Naruto - as awesome as I think he is - destroyed the whole fic. The writing itself was wonderful - grammar, flow, the works - but the story was lacking (To me). His background chock full of horrifying events, personality untouchable, so epically triumphing without much effort over villains and heroes of the other fandom alike, charisma that just draws people in - well holy heck! This kind of story just pisses me off whenever I come across it. This does not make Naruto lovable and a spot character to me, it makes him unnatural and a % god in an alien world. UPDATE: Because I'm feeling some bias in favor of Kakashi when I read crossovers, I can kind of understand why some people heavily favor one side. It's not that big of a peeve for me anymore, because I get it. On the other hand, keeping, because it's conducive to what a good well-balanced ideal crossover is like, but personal taste. Going to keep it as a reminder to myself when my head comes down from Kakashi love and tries to find good unbiased fics. Pet Peeve 6: about Time Travel stories. Why must the future people always be overpowered, tortured by a soul-deep angst, saints, etc to the past people? And omniscience. I won't deny that the future people would obviously know what will happen, those future people are only human - you can't presume to remember everything that happened! |
