Author has written 2 stories for Naruto. Its amazing how much my tastes can change in six years. I looked back at my profile recently and was simply astounded at what I wrote then. However I was still in high school at the time so I suppose that is to be expected. Now however I have graduated high school and recieved a college degree and am now an adult in the eyes of society. I would like to think my taste in stories has matured along with the rest of me. I have long sinced expanded from the small area of Naruto fanfiction, though I still read them, but my preferences in a story have changed a bit over the years. For Naruto, my favorite pairing is still Naruto/FemHaku and my other favorite pairing is Naruto/Temari. The rest of the pairings out there I will read if its a good story but I've since really moved on from all the others. There are a few exceptions but those are more for the story itself rather than the pairing. A good example is Reaching for a Dream (and its sequels) by Noodlehammer. One of my favorite stories out there, but other than that I mostly dislike the fem!Kyuubi stories. Same with Legacy by cr4zypt, only NaruHina pairing story that I read actively. For Harry Potter stories, I am a big Harry/Daphne fan and a big Harry/Hermione fan. I have a ton of stories out there in my favorites with those two pairings. I also like Luna as well, her brand of insanity never fails to make me laugh. HP stories are now my primary reading material as well. I've expanded beyond for these stories, going out to websites like hpfanficarchive and archiveofourown. I've had many good times reading this category of fanfiction. I've read a little bit of Pokemon here and there and I don't really have a favorite pairing, although the Ash/Serena pairing appeals to a certain romantic part of me, my tastes for those basically revolve around and smarter and more mature Ash, not the eternal kid we have in the anime. My favorite scenario is when he loses at 'xxxx conference/tournament/league' and basically decides to get his game together and grow up and be the badass I know he can be. I don't find many of these too often, so I don't often read pokemon. Star Wars has always been a very big influence in my life, long before anything else book/tv/movie-wise came along. I have always been a huge fan and the day I moved to SW fanfiction was a great day for me. I love the Darth Vader stories by TheRealThing, pretty much the first ones I read in my journey into SW fanfiction. I've read several others where Obi-Wan is the main char, same with Anakin. My favorite is probably the Vader Redemption type stories. There are several good ones out there. Unfortunately there is not near as many long SW stories in my favorite characters like there are in the Naruto and Harry Potter stories so I don't have as many of those that I read. Another thing that has changed significantly is my love of the dark and grey stories. These stories when done right continue to end up as my favorites. It's hard to describe how I define a dark or grey story as good or bad, I simply will either get into it or I won't and move on. But these stories when I get into them end up being some of my most read and loved stories. They just satisfy some primal part of me and get my adrenaline flowing like nothing else. I simply love reading a good Dark!Naruto or Dark!Harry story. Though the Dark!Harry stories have an unfortunate (for my heterosexual views) tendancy to lean towards the slashy side, I have become tolerant of very mild slash. By mild I mean not too explicit and not a real main focus. But I am not so intolerant that I will simply dismiss a good story if it gets too slashy for my tastes, most of the time I can simply skip over those parts. If a story is mostly plot with a bit of slash, I can usually handle it. A good example is Rise of a Dark Lord by Little.Miss.Xanda (a story that remains one of my top favorited stories ever). If it gets to be too much for me to handle I will simply stop reading it. No big deal. I'm a pretty open minded person and I will not hate on someone for being homosexual or having such content in their story like some others. I simply just prefer not to read it. I will say that my own stories are pretty much dead now. Trials of Ice and Fire is definitely dead, I don't even like to read most of it anymore. Bringing Balance I still think about alot, but I find myself lacking the will to put it down to writing. I'm starting to edge towards writing it again though. But don't count on any updates anytime soon. I recently went through and found myself revising it and changing part of it that I didn't like. If I finish that I might start writing new chapters again. Again though, don't expect any updates anytime soon. That's all I have to say about that. |
