Author has written 6 stories for Harry Potter. Gads, I hate trying to do a profile description. Anyway, I'm into a lot of things. Animes like Bleach, Shakugan no Shana, and Fruits Basket. I also like Harry Potter and while I thank JKR for bringing us the sandbox, I feel she could have done a MUCH better job with it. But then again, I absolutely adore epics like The Wheel of Time and The Belgariad (both of which are so well written, it's hard to find a crossover that doesn't suck). She could have taken those seven books and turned them into a better written fourteen very easily. On my personal workspace note, I am building my own HP fanfic... and doing what I've seen so few authors do, rewrite the entire series. So, starting with book one, I am introducing my version of Harry Potter, Unbreakable style. Fair warning, I am stealing little bits of ideas from a whole lot of people, mostly jokes and one liners. I'm not good at writing up practical jokes for the Twins, so I am borrowing anything that makes me ROFLMAO. The credits list is pretty much my Fav Stories/Authors list. A side note: Delays for second book due to misplacing my own copies of CoS. I have new one and the writing is happening. Additional notes of interest: Currency. The idea that a galleon is worth five pounds is just wrong. Based on coin descriptions in the books and the images used in the movies, I have determined that, if PURE gold, a galleon would be worth a MINIMUM of $1000 USD. A simple calculation of volume, weight by volume, and gold index figures shows that. Assumption of gold purity being, say, 10 carat rather than pure makes the value drop, but not much. For the sake of simplicity, I am making the gold value, like a couple other authors out there, to be 500 pounds sterling. It's a simple number, easy to calculate, and makes sense. The fact that the British magical community has a complicated system of knuts to sickles to galleons isn't unique in my world either. I would assume that every community would have similar issues. The exceptions would be the New World (North and South America) and China. China would have streamlined their currency long ago as part of the Imperial Bureaucracy and the New World countries were a mish mash of so many ideas that any form of government would have to make up a standard they could all work with from scratch. Slytherin. Gads, don't get me started on Sal. The VERY MINIMAL information we have on cannon Sal SUGGESTS that he had issues with teaching muggle-borns and that they should be TAUGHT seperately from the so called purebloods. Not ostracized or enslaved, but TAUGHT. In keeping with the time frame of Sal's life, easily 90%-ish of muggle-borns would be uneducated serfs and other low-born commoners. No reading, no writing, no math, what education they had was family taught, or Church forced. So keeping them seperate from the others while cleaning up that mess in their heads? Yeah, makes some practical sense. FOR THE DARK AGES! Ranting done for now. Will update the world on reality as I see it at random intervals. Dark Lord Staros out. I have LOTS of plot bunnies running through my head. Some are really, really bad. I also plan on doing my own 'HP tells the world to piss off' version too. There's also a kinda zombie apocalypse one, and a couple other wierd twisted versions I came up with. I'll get at least one chapter written for several before I can move on with all of them. My writing is haphazard and erratic, much like myself. So far: Musings of a Dark Lord: Ever wonder what Voldy thinks about while sitting alone in the dark? Secrets and Betrayal: Similar vein, but Dumbly'dore instead, minus the evil plot mongerer most people do him up as. Point of No Return: Thank you to Christopher Stasheff for your well written version of personal Hells via "Her Majesty's Wizard." Great book series for those who have never read him. He's the inspiration for this. Death and the Single Sorcerer: My own twist on the HP meets Death scenario. NOT going to be as nice as others. Despite chapter one ending, is NOT SLASH. HP, Unbreakable: A new student with a different outlook on Good and Evil steps into the playing field. What will Harry, Voldy, and Dumbledore do? Want a super-powered Harry? Anyone who's read Raymond Feist should recognize my newest plots bunny, a Magician/HP X-over. Hey, here's a couple challenges for people who are MUCH better writers than me: Harry - Autistic: A severe beating by Vernon leaves Harry slightly brain damaged. Still capable of magic, just even more socially non-responsive than he is now, kind of like an idiot savant. Can still be with Dursley's or not, Dumbledore aware or not (if not with Dursleys, then Dumbles probably knows SOMETHING). What will Volde do when he encounters a person completely unable to fear him? What if Harry can't feel pain? Could Volde feel sorry for the boy? Hate the wizarding world even more for making this happen? What satisfaction is there in killing Harry if the boy just stands there, drooling? Harry/Eureka XOver - Eureka is a WIERD town. Filled with crazed scientists with one world destroying invention after another, how would magic fit in? Maybe magic is researched down in Section 5 like all the other really, really dangerous stuff? Others as I think of strange things. Weird thought of the day: Magneto vs any light saber wielding person... Force prevents stealing the saber, but Magneto just turns off the electrical (and according to the canon design plans, it IS electricity that powers it, not some weird "other" kind of power) flow that powers the thing. Being the master of electromagnetism he became later (instead of just regular magnetism he started as), he should have no problems doing this. |
