Not much to say, really. I read a lot, I write a little, I avoid work.

(Many moons ago, I used to be called TickTock. If you come across stories under that name, it isn't a plagiariser and neither am I, I promise.)

As you can see, I never update this profile and I have a bad habit of falling off the edge of the world for long periods of time. Bad writer, no biscuit.

But, after a long hiatus, I'm posting stories again! Yay!

We kinda noticed. It has been a year, after all.

Yeah, well, after I managed to screw up Atonement, I wanted to make sure I was going to follow through before I made any promises in my profile. I didn't actually stop writing, I just wanted to wait until I'd finished a story before posting again -- which has left me with fifty partial stories across a dozen fandoms and no completed stories to post. However, the new stuff I'm posting are either one-offs, or stories I have a very clear direction on, so I'm optimistic about finishing them all.

That's nice, but what about Atonement? That's the only one I actually care about.

Atonement is a three-fold problem for me. First, it went on hiatus in the first place because I realised that the happy ending I was aiming at wasn't going to work, and that problem still hasn't changed. Secondly, it's been more than ten years since I last wrote in it, so it doesn't feel like my story anymore. I'm not at all sure I'll be able to achieve the same tone. Thirdly, I'm irrationally afraid of pulling a Matrix II - having a continuation so bad that it makes fans start disliking the original. So while I'm not discounting a continuation, I've got a lot of issues to work through about it.

Progress of Stories:

The Swamps Underneath the Underneath (Naruto): I've taken this off the regular update schedule because of general lack of success - my skills weren't up to the scope of it, I think. There will be about twenty chapters, and I hope to finish this story off by June of 2015.

Variants on the theme of Dead Air (NCIS): A suite of consequence fics for that NCIS episode published to AO3. The multi-chaptered stories will be posted serially, with updates every two weeks (usually on Monday), and occasional one-shots thrown in.

The Yard (NCIS): When Gibbs leaves for Mexico, Tony decides that Tim and Ziva's attitudes aren't going anyone any favours. His complaints have unexpected consequences to his own career. Posted to AO3 with no set schedule.

Longer stories in the works:

Railway Tycoon (Harry Potter): Harry takes his inheritance seriously, and plots to turn it into real money.

Finesse (Naruto): Sasuke goes back in time to guide Naruto in saving the world, and yes, he does appreciate the irony.

A New Weaving (Doctor Who): Sex with a time lord will kill a human - which has interesting implications when it comes to Jack Harkness.

Midshipman Harris (Buffy): Xander decides that the best way of helping Buffy is to get the kind of training you can only get as an officer in the marine corps.
